I had buyer's remorse and returned my wired Arctis Nova Pro's w/GameDAC. I have the OG Arctis Pro w/GameDAC and I swear, unless I'm an OCD Audiophile, I could NOT tell the difference between the 2 headsets using my personal custom EQ settings (in terms of sound and immersion). Plus $250 is quite a price tag for an upgrade. I say if you already own a pair of Arctis Pros w/GameDAC, it's not worth the extra $250. But that's just me. Thanks for the awesome review, Techne!!

On the Wireless Pro, I upgraded to the Nova’s Wireless and had to return it because they took out the MixChat feature for PlayStation and that’s a huge flaw for me. the other 2 disappointments where the feeling of the new controls and the feel of the base, they both felt less premium than the OG. everything else I was very excited about, but unfortunately I went back to the OG and probably will wait for something else. Thanks for the review brother.

With the base station for the new wireless it's nice that they gave it a slant for the screen to make it easier to read in most cases. Now if only the dial was at an angle too. Whenever you press the dial you have to hold the station to not push it back. Kind of a major oversight for something that is $350.

They are a bit secretive about the DAC and how they prove the audio difference. It’s very hard to find any info about the chips and the differences. They don’t advertise it. They both play HiRes audio at the same sample rate so theoretically unless the sound difference is in the chip it’s being done via the software. Thank you for the honest video very few reviewers have done compared the old and new, much appreciated.

After trying the Nova Pro Wireless and the original Pro Wireless, I prefer the original. The ANC nub was really annoying and they didn't feel as comfortable. I even tried the Hyper X Alpha wireless, Even though that one was more comfortable than the nova Pro's, It had an issue on PS5, where every few hours it would just disconnect, The sound was also really muddy on the Alpha's. I decided to just stick with the Pro Wireless that I already own and got the VZR headset to use in the meantime. Hopefully we get more comfortable options next year for wireless headsets.

I own both the wireless versions. I’m taking the new nova headset back to Best Buy. The nova version does have more bass like he says but not by a lot. I like using the sidetone function on my original headset, but for some reason I can not get it to work on the new nova headset. No matter what setting I put the sidetone at it all sounds like it’s off. I’m just happy with my original head set. One more thing with the new nova headset when you power off the headset the Bluetooth function stays on. You basically have to turn off the headset twice in order to fully power off the headset.

The Arctis Pros (wireless or wired, doesn't matter) are prone to breaking on the right cup, specifically at the connection point. You see it on the forums all the time and on Reddit; I've also had three pairs, treated them like gold and within six months, each pair developed a hairline crack (that started with a loud SNAP) from the connection point to the pad. The current pair is being held together with contact cement, and even THAT is failing under the pressure and turning white. SS needs to offer a version with at LEAST partially metal cups, but they never would, because their headsets would last too long. I never had this problem with the Siberia 650s, but those things were built to last. Only issue I ever had with those was the headset wiring disconnecting internally.

I havent tried the new one yet, but I have had two pairs of the old pro wireless. I LOVE the headset so much, but with one major flaw for me and my big head. The spot you pointed out where the old pro looks like it want to break (where the metal hook meets the ear piece) has broken twice on me over time. My second pair hasn't completely broke yet technically, but there's a crack that has formed in the plastic right by where the metal meets the plastic and I know over time it'll snap. Probably not the case with people who have smaler heads than I do, but if you got a pretty big head, its something to keep in mind. Hopefully with the new ones having all plastic right there, there wont be as much presure on the plastic ear cups

I have the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless and to be honest, the biggest update i was looking for was some sort of material lineing instead the battery change earcup compartment. As I would say 99% of people change the battery when they hear the beep with the headset on and just to hear that clacking and thumping when you changing the battery is annoying. I do enjoy the headset but the very minor differences isnt enough to upgrade, Im happy with the Wireless Pro.
@OnfireProjects2 жыл бұрын
i'm very certain, that the "looseness" of the earcups is totally on purpose as it enables minor movements without making the headband move with it - a lot of headsets and headphones have that and even tho it feels way cheaper on the arctis 7 pros in comparison to many other headsets/headphones, i'm still totally sure that this is no design flaw/bad build quality or anything

I might be a one off, but having received my Nova Pro wired headphones today, after 3 hours of absolutely battling them, they're going back for a refund. The Sonar software doesn't play ball at all with my setup (I use Voicemeeter for streaming, and it works great with Arctis Pro). I couldn't get the virtual surround to work at all, no matter what I tried, and this even resulted in Sonar randomly not talking to the DAC. The EQ settings from the DAC don't communicate to Sonar either, As far as build quality and comfort, my GOD are the Nova Pros an improvement. Same with the DAC itself, much improved. But yeah, all in all, very disappointed in how bad they were out of the box compared to the Arctis Pro.

Hi, I wanted to say that this was one of the videos I was looking for; it was great. Right now, I'm using my old, reliable Arctis Pro 7 wireless headset-they hold up great. However, I'm considering upgrading to a new version. I'm wondering, will the little mic inside the earpads of the Arctis Nova Pro wireless disturb me? I've heard from some other videos that not only does it cause discomfort, but in the long run, it can also apply hard and sometimes painfull pressure to the ear, causing discomfort with the mic on the inside of the earpad. Do you or anyone who alreday has the Arctis Nova Pro an opinion about this tiny detail?

My Arctis Pro wired broke at the ear cup. They won't repair it either. Lasted just under 2 years, out of warranty. Hard to justify buying more Steelseries products when a $250 headset doesn't even last you 2 years.

If you have fit issues with the anc nub in the nova pro wireless, try putting them on and then sliding the earcup wayyyyy further forward twords your face than you are used to for most headphones. It will then place the nub in the ear canal and you should be able to test completely crushing the earcups on your head and still never feel the nub even in that extreme clamping test as though you layed down on one earcup. Completely solved the nub poking the back of my ear for me.

Thats mostly what my complaint is with the older version and i am sure going to be with the nova version as i had just bought one again because my old one cracked and litterly the left cuff is hanging on by a wire.

If it's not that much of an improvement on the new ones I would buy it if I had the money to spend (not making any sacrifices) and for the long running time with the new battery life. I spend A LOT of time at the pc and it gets a little bit annoying with the battery dying on me mid gameplay. That been said, loved the review as always.

I upgraded the sound wasn't worth it and worse there is a "lump" in the ear cup that kept hitting my ear and was seriously uncomfortable. My vote is don't bother.

I've been using the Arctis Pro Wireless for about 4 years. I just happened to see that I got some bad bad OLED burn on the station. Damn.

Some person asks about the Arctis Pro Wireless Version (Because i've heard, you can use that Xbox version everywhere, but with what cost?) : "So this version has 2 ports, 1 for pc 1 for xbox. The pc port will work fine with a pc i presume (full functionality), but what does "not all the features" mean if you were to connect a ps5 to the xbox port? Would i miss anything on PC side? Will i loose anything on a ps5/switch side?" Some person answered: "I'll try to be clearer. There are two USB-C ports on both versions. The PC/PS5 version (the expensive one for some reason) has two identical ports which are both fully compatible with PC, PS5, switch, etc. On the X version for XBOX instead, one of the 2 USB-C ports is fully compatible with XBOX only, the other instead has full compatibility with PC/PS5/switch. This means that: 1. The XBOX dedicated port cannot be used for PS5 at all, 2. this port will work on PC but you will miss out certain Sonar software features. Which features in particular I do not know, but apparently in the software the headset will appear as disconnected, not a good sign. Therefore, if you have both a PC and a PS5 the XBOX version will have complete functionality only if you manually swap the cable on the back and use the NON-XBOX USB port for both your devices. Basically to connect both PC and PS5 you want the other model." Edit: Just wanted to make a quick post explaining the differences between the Versions: Nova Pro / Pro Wireless for PC/PlayStation Works on PC, PlayStation, Mac, Switch. GameDAC has two USB-C ports on the back for Multi-System connections. Both ports support the same devices. Nova Pro / Pro Wireless for Xbox Works on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Mac, Switch GameDAC has two USB-C ports on the back for Multi-System connections. Only one port supports Xbox connection and the other only supports PC/PS/Mac/Switch. Otherwise, anything not mentioned is the same between devices. Both headsets use the same mic, speaker drivers, and other physical features. Both wireless versions have ANC and Bluetooth. All versions also have access to Sonar/Engine on PC. What does this mean for you? If you plan on using the Multi-System connection feature on the headset, you'll need to pick the version that works best for you. For example, if you have a PlayStation and a PC and want to switch between the two on the GameDAC, you'll need to pick the PS5 version. Also found online: vor 9 Months: "The Xbox port kinda works on PC. The PC will recognize it as an Xbox audio device. This will likely cause audio issues, and alongside that Sonar/Engine won't know it's an SteelSeries device so those features won't work either."

Hey 4ny, my hyper x cloud II just started to die and i was looking for a high end, gaming headset! (mic and wired) I have no budget but don't want to go over £300 if possible! What would be the best for audio quality + bass with decent mic? IGN said "SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC (Wired)" was the Best High-end wired gaming headset! They also said: The "HyperX Cloud Orbit S" was the Best Audiophile Quality Gaming Headset! I was wondering, im a gamer that prefers the best sound quality for listening to music, I don't mind for gaming as long as I can hear footsteps in counter strike for example! Which would be the better of the 2 options for audio quality + bass (Would love to know which has better bass if possible) Also, are they any other £300 or less wired headsets that are better than these? Im open to more options Thanks alot!

With the old wireless and new wireless do you get that better high fidelity sound if you attach the cable to the base and turn it into a wired version? Or is it only the wired ones that get that better sound?
@TechGuy42ilm2 жыл бұрын
No you have to get the wired for the better sound

I'm worried that the new Arctis Nova Pro wireless won't sound as good in wireless mode vs the old Arctis Pro Wireless due to the ability to plug in Optical sound and still use them wireless. I'm wondering if you are able to obtain the same sound experience as optical with the new USB option? I have been running the optical port on PC as I feel it's a better experience than USB on the older Arctis Pro Wireless.. Would really appreciate some help if it's possible to obtain that nice optical sound experience on the new Arctis Nova Pro wireless with the Sonar software...

I currently have the Astros A50's and have been using it for many years. I just got a ps5 and I am heavily leaning towards getting the Arctis Nova Pro Wired headset. Although I will say I think the mic sounds better on the Astros. I will also miss the voice to chat mix I can adjust right from my headset in the middle of a game. Which leads me to 2 questions I have: 1. I hear about being able to adjust the chat voice to game sound mix using the base station on the Arctis "while" on PC. Can I do the same while playing on a console (ps5)? 2. Any eq and mic sound changes I do to the Arctis using the sonar software ....will those changes carry over when I use it on console?

Do you know if the base station for the Arctis Pro can be used with the old Siberia 800 headphones? I ask this question because when you held it up to the camera it looks exactly the same... and my daughter's Siberia 800 headphone base station stopped working, so she lost all wireless functionality because her Siberia 800 headphones do not have bluetooth. What's "funny" though is that the batteries you showed for the Arctis Nova Pro look exactly like the batteries for the Siberia 800...which I had replaced for my daughter approximately a month before her base station stopped working. My daughter was practically in tears when she came to me about the base station...until I showed her they can be used wired. However, I am unable to find a Siberia 800 base station replacement and apparently the microphone is not working on PC when wired without the base station, but the microphone does work on PS5 when they are wired thru her PS5 duelsense controller.

5:21 Arctis Pro partially broke on me after 7 months of frequent, everyday use. I'm still using it, it's not completely broken, but the small plastic part between the big ear element and the metal quarter circle part broke into multiple pieces. It does have an inner part that's not broken, so it still works and I'm still using it every day, but i did have to screw it apart to take out the plastic debris, otherwise it made noise as I moved my head. There is also a break in the plastic from that small connecting part to the inside of the ear part, where the earpads connect, and by now - around 11 months of use right now - more pieces are breaking out there on the ear part, where it holds in that small plastic part that connects to the metal part. So they are definitely a weak point, although I expected them to hold for at least the warranty period. Here's a photo without taking it apart for those interested: imgur . com/a/ELuIRbA I do have 24 months warranty on it, but I'm not sure it applies to this kind of damage. Will try though, but again, currently I can still use it perfectly, and a warranty process is lengthy.

Yo man! Maybe an older video already, but I just realised that the new nova pro's are out after having literally just bought the older models 2nd hand. Situation is like this, dude bought the old model wireless first, super happy, turns out his head is too big right? 2 weeks go by and he can't take the pressure anymore, orders something else. He moves, loses his box, and they end up sitting in a closet for about 4 months (bought in February) So he paid 2600rmb and sold them to me for 1000rmb. I think the new nova pro's are about 2700rmb at the moment. Do you think I'm better off with a basically brand new pair of the older model? Upgrading from a 70RMB pair of game tester earphones from a small company.
