Can you talk more about how to get the guide in place? Can’t figure that out so I keep hitting concrete. Also, like you, I have grass that is raised above the concrete surface. I thought about running it from the grass side to cut it from above.

I think the only thing to do is cut off part of the guard (not a very safe thing to do). But I'm going cut even more off of mine. I'll do a video. I'm planning on cutting all but the part directly between me and blade.

I like the infomative edging issue problem of raised ground you don''e see anywhere else. The possibly unsafe modification is interesting. I might have to use that as the Worx is being delivered today and I have raised lawn out front. Or I might get lucky and just edge my way thru it a few times and clear it out... . Also, the trick of edging backwards is cool to clean the edge. Good job!

@@554LH I previously had two Black and Decker edgers which I really liked. However, the most recent one only lasted two seasons. After some research, it appears they made some changes a few years back and there were many reports of dissatisfied customers since. Of course these days, “made some changes” usually means made more crappy. I am cautiously optimistic about the Worx.

Yes the two holes are for height adjustment and I went with the first outer hole on both sides so I don't have to hunch over while using the edger.

@rooster7996 Жыл бұрын
@@jimjim7656 Yes, I like it okay. Honestly though, I don’t edge weekly. I probably have only used it MAYBE ten times. So far, so good. I did have one mishap, that was likely my fault. I had some B&D Edge Hog blades and I used them instead of the Work blade. They look exactly the same including the spacer bushings. Not long after install, everything fell apart, so like I said it probably was on me. I tightened everything back up, put an extra nut on for good measure, and ( cross my fingers), no more blow outs.

@554LH2 жыл бұрын
Sort of, shallow curve, when the curve is tight you will cut wider trench, I think you have this problem with all edgers.

Greetings Mr Hall 👋 ! Well I too looked around and I went with the Worx edger as well and I was pleasantly surprised how quick I went from the minimal assembly straight to edging my lawn which is Saint Augustine like yours and it was a joy to use and I was done with the job in about 30 minutes and I’d never edged my lawn till I purchased this one so all in all it’s a competent machine in my opinion. so there a yellow tag that says remove pipe before assembly. didn't see you do that, you just stuff the tag into the pipe extension. are they talking about that hard plastic rigid tube around the cord inside?
@554LH2 жыл бұрын
I might assume they wanted that tube removed, I didn’t follow that instruction, I would advise you to do better, I was tired
@barbararoth46342 жыл бұрын
yes. got my scissors out to get it off. it wasn't easy either, very awkward trying not to cut the cord, the wing nuts went through easier with that off. good video though, appreciated it for sure
@mp0wa2 жыл бұрын
I actually left the black wire loom on. Just use a small flat head screwdriver to push the wire loom down and then slide the bolt through and tighten with the wing nut. I think the reason why the wire loom was there originally was just more protection for the wires inside to not rip or break during packaging or assembly. Removing that black wire loom will definitely give you more space to slide the bolt through, but I don't think it is necessary. They could of use a thinner wire loom to make things easier.

Great video and like the common sense approach to modifying rock guard. In the instructions, there is a yellow tag on the cable inside the aluminum handle that says remove before assembling. I am not sure if they are referring to the black ridged plastic piece of piping over the cord. It looks like you left this plastic piping on the electric wire. eg at 5:18
@554LH3 жыл бұрын
I left it on, I saw the instruction, but to me it seemed more shielding was better. I also think since I don’t actually “know”, probably better to remove it and let me be the Guinea pig. Thank you for taking time to comment!

Nice demonstration of edger. I have a question that maybe you can answer. I have about 450' of lawn to edge. But only 15-20 feet is along walkway/driveway. How well do you feel it would edge on the rest. For lack of a better term, "free form". Would the trench mode work? Or still use it in edger mode? Thanks
@554LH Жыл бұрын
I believe it will work with a few difficulties, a power cord that long will lose energy and maybe make for weak and hot motor. This unit works best with wheels on flat surface. I think rolling on the top of grass will leave uneven cut. Since this video I have purchased a power edger so that I could cut very shallow trenches, a power edger would be a better fit imho. I still like my electric, smaller, quieter but the gas has no question more applied power.
@872trucker Жыл бұрын
@@554LH Thank you for the reply. Last year I bought a greenworks thatcher and a 100' , 10 ga , extension cord. It did quite well. I'd prefer a gas edger. I just can't keep a clean straight line with my line trimmer. I'm thinking as long as one trims each week with the worx and not let grass and edge get unruly. Maybe, just maybe it could work. Again thank you for the reply.

I think you made it look easy, likely due to experience. My blade kept sparking on the driveway. The guide was not impactful in keeping a straight line that followed the driveway. Consequence is some deep edging that does not match the almost zero edging. I haven't gotten the hang of it yet.
@554LH8 ай бұрын
Well thank you for saying,, just give yourself about 10 hours and you'll be pro. The blade sparking isn't that big an issue, just a bit of blade wear which should be replaced at intervals. After you get your lawn on regular edging schedule there will be a well defined space between lawn and curb. It's much easier at that point just pushing straight with little sparking. Thank you Lauren!

You have to go one foot forward two feet back so you can shoot the debris forward or else it packs up where you cut the guard off. For high turf you can raise the front wheel by tilting the unit rearward couple inches to make an initial cut freehand by eyeball,go back and then set the guard into the cements edge, and go back and forth advancing and clearing the debris ( the blade moves rearward in operation). Watch for sparks and kickback of you are too aggressive. I set stakes every 10 ft so i know where i need to end up. This is for neglected edges with 8 inches overhang you cant see where the borders are,or where to set the guide fence into..it takes a bit finesse,but it will. If you have no kind of existing edge,be prepared for alot of back and forth work, 300 ft linear 8 inch zoysia grass overhang each side was 6 hrs cutting not including the strips of turf sod etc that had to be pulled swept and bagged..alot of breaks in between.😅 It was like filleting a whale if you don't keep up with it .
