My neighbor bought an expensive Ego mower 3 years ago. First year it was pretty good. Second year still okay. Third year the batteries are trashed and the plastic is all brittle. I'll keep using the Toro I bought in 1984. Interesting value proposition. And my Toro is still lighter despite not being plastic. All the electric mowers I've had the displeasure of using felt like cheap plastic toys that actually cost way too much.

I feel thats going to be the story for all electric mowers

The best push mower I ever used was when I was a kid. My grandpa fixed lawnmowers as a retirement hobby, and he gave me an old sunbeam that had a throttle lever and no governor. You could rev it to the moon and plow through anything. Only bad part is that your hands went numb from the vibration!

Sounds like the kind of mower we need today! Make mowers great again!

I own two MTD built (More Trouble Daily) lawnmowers, (1) the deck is rusting out, (2) has no side discharge and mulching is a joke. Honda came out with a plastic deck, its a good idea.. The battery mower is limited to battery life and a spare battery is half the price of the mower. One tank of gas will mow a 15K yard with a modern Briggs & Scrapem engine. I'm not sold on any battery equipment because of the battery cost and a warranty of two years is typical as the expected life. I was looking at a 40V Ryobi and each battery was 219 and the mower was 800$.

I agree, for the average consumer it doesn’t make sense - but there is a niche market for the elderly/disabled and mechanically inept.

I attempted to mow with the Worx early in the morning when the grass was still wet, and that was a big mistake. I know it’s a no no, but I tired to beat the heat. The mower had to work so hard, it took 2 charges just to do the back yard. 😕
