@@americandude3825 I have the top of the line Ego self propelled 21" 56V mower from 2018. I love not having to run out and buy gas (especially now). The issue I have with the mower is the "vortex" or vacuum is not nearly as good as a quality gas mower. I like to bag but I sometimes I have to pass over my wheel tracks a second time to pick up clippings that didn't make it to the bag. However, this Worx at 80V should solve that issue and I believe the new model of Ego with the dual blades would too. Would I buy electric over gas again? Absolutely. It's quicker for me to mow twice then it is to run to the gas station. I have to mow twice a week. Ego has a whole line of accessories that use the same battery. The trimmer is absolutely amazing. Negative about the Ego is I had to buy a bagging blade as it only comes with the mulching blade. Hope this helps.

great review. Here In California they are legislating gas mowers into the trash bin, in a couple years all mowers/edgers will have to be electric and this looks like a winner. BUT with the extreme drought we are in most people will probably be getting rid of their front lawns soon.

I like that you can flip up the deck like that! It should make cleaning out the mower way easier, which will really extend the life of the steel deck. I know a lot of Honda mowers die because the decks rust out way before the engine dies. Cool product!

Would like to see how this works on thicker turf, say the 7th or 8th mow of the season. I don't use a striping kit, so I prefer the strong suction of a gas unit to lift and stripe the turf, but this electric model looks better than the rest so far. Thanks for the great review as always brother.

Looks like a cool mower. I used to use a Honda 21" and it was great for a rental house that we were in. We just moved up to a larger house and it was taking me 2 hours to mow the lawn so I bought a 42" Scag Liberty Z. WOW! The Scag is well worth the money in my opinion and it makes mowing quick and fun, plus it looks super cool. I was really debating about buying the Ego Z6 zero turn, but It's only been out for about 2 years and that's just too new for me to drop that kind of cash (~$5500). Much easier to go with the tried and true Kawasaki, Briggs or Kohler engines and with the hydrogear ZT2800 drivetrains.

Just picked this up open box from Worx on eBay as I have had the same underpowered issue with the 40v non-nitro version of Worx mower. The Nitro line of outdoor power tools from Worx is awesome. My backyard is completely empty overgrown from all the rain we’ve had here in California. I managed to do the front but I had to weed whack it down with the Worx 40v weed whacker which worked surprisingly well never bogged down.

I purchased an 80v lithium battery mower 4 years ago for just over $500 and love it. One full battery charge can mow 4,000 sq ft in self-propelled mode which is plenty fast. No pulling a starter rope. No more gas cans. No changing the spark plug. No oil changes. A gas mower has more oopmh for really thick tall grass, but the advantages of battery power outweigh that for the few times you need highest HP. One thing to check is to ensure the mower deck can cut the height you want. For example, southern lawns usually need a higher setting in hottest months compared to northern lawns.

I work evenings, so when I need to mow my only options are to give up part of my weekend, or wake up early during the week and mow before work during the hottest part of the day. I've been interested in an electric mower because that could open the door for me to mow at night if the mower is quiet enough. And since that would allow more flexibility for when I can mow I would actually be able to mow more often, meaning my yard wouldn't reach jungle status like it does now 😅

As others have pointed out, it does seem this is the best designed electric mower I’ve seen so far. IMHO, waaaaay nicer looking than the stratospherically priced Milwaukee. For most the price is just too extreme for what you’re getting. While battery powered electric yard equipment may be the future, along with battery vehicles, we as a society are just trading one environmental wrecker for another. Another thought, it’s interesting how each manufacturer tries to get you committed to their respective brands with their proprietary batteries.

No yearly air filer, oil change, plug. No emissions. Much much much Longer life. What goes unmentioned is how much more effecient an electric motor is compared to gas 2x really easily . You are using less and using it more effectively. Batteries are not without waste and by no means a perfect solution as you very correctly pointed out. Think of it instead as the far lesser of two evils. Hope this offers a different perspective.

This Works mower weighs in around 53 lbs. For comparison, my old self-propelled Honda gas mower was around 75 lbs. Currently I have Toro’s 60v Super Recycler mower, which is about 90 lbs. I bought a Black & Decker electric mower and it did not last 2 seasons. Unfortunately this is the future whether we like it or not. Biden does not cut is own grass so he is all about electric. I recently gave battery charged mowers a good look, as I was in the market for a new mower. I decided I would regret buying one 5 years from now, when the batteries need to be replaced, in the case of your mower, around $400 for the batteries. And then you also would have a 5 year old mower. I bought a gas mower. But interestingly, the stores now have put the gas mowers in the back; the push is on to buy an electric mower. I bought a Murray, as I've had really good luck with them in the past, and they seemingly last forever. This time I bought one with a spigot built into the deck which you can hook a hose up to, run the engine, and clean off the grass without lifting the mower.

My cheap crappy kobalt mower packs that bag tighter than the 201cc Honda I grew up with. I'll see how it's going at the end of the season but so far I see no reason to run gas anymore.

I have a Green Works 40v that works great for areas that I can't hit with my zero turn. Really looking for some actual reviews on the new Ryobi 80v line of push and zero turn mowers coming in the next couple of months (Late Spring/Summer 2022). I really can't say anything bad about the Green Works stuff though. I have the leaf blower, trimmer, chainsaw, pole saw, and push mower.

When I say Here I mean right exactly where I live. they come out and test them on our counties school's fields. I'll pit that sucker against grass like you've never seen, St Augustine. i use a series 23 28 inch snapper rider with a 12.5 intek right now.

Been running Toro 60V 22" Max recycler mower since the start of last year. Never going back to gas. Has similar features that this Worx does while different in other areas, but it does just fine for me. I highly recommend anyone looking to replace a gas mower or just buying their first to seriously consider the battery options out there, whether it's this Worx or something else.

That's interesting that you feel that way. The question is, how will you feel in 5 years when you have a 5 year old mower that needs $200 in new batteries? Will you buy a new $400-600 mower which comes with new batteries and a charger, or will you just buy the $200 worth of batteries for your old mower? Or will you wish you had just bought a gas mower which would have lasted you 10 years?
@rawwwrrr4024
@rawwwrrr4024 2 жыл бұрын
@@roberttreasure1986 $200 worth of batteries sounds a lot cheaper than all of the gas I spent using it for those 5 years. And the gas I save by using the same batteries for the snow blower, and the trimmer, and the blower. That's a lot of gas all told that has been replaced with cleaner energy. No more exhausted gas into the atmosphere negatively contributing to the environment or my lungs. $40/yr in batteries? Sounds like a huge win-win.

@@rawwwrrr4024 I am willing to bet that the electricity you use to generate your batteries is generated mostly by burning coal, some by wind, nucluear and hydro-electric plants. So for you and most Americans, clean energy is a myth. You are just transferring the pollution to the area where the electric plant is situated.

As with everything electric its about the cost but besides this I like the design , storing it brilliant , no oil change , gas fume , filters to change and spark plugs ! But my favorite thing it has a handle on the front deck my God why has it taken so long for that idea 🤷

Would like to see how it handles wet foot high grass , your front yard is almost like a bowling green :) it looks like a good unit though mate . I bought another electric mower brand a couple of years ago , as my old beat up petrol mower was poorly maintained and was having fuel system problems ( thats on me ) , initially i was not impressed with the electric mowers power in the rough stuff , where a petrol mower would just churn through almost anything , and even when bottomed out , the petrol mower would just scarify the land :) . But the electric unit i bought , its lighter weight and ease of handling , and no more having to fill it up with petrol/unleaded won me over , and when it runs flat i just put a spare battery in it and im good to go , and not too mention its quietness , in times when you wouldnt run your normal petrol mower due to annoying the neighbors , , the electric mower is very quiet . . And as for the less power on my unit , i found by just changing my mowing method , just taking a bit less of a cut in the heavy stuff and running over it a tad higher , even if i had to go over a second time as you may have to do anyway if your grass has gotten a bit out of hand . The last thing that really won me over to electric was not having to rip your shoulder out pull starting it as you would on the basic petrol mowers.
