I have seen guides say not to use minor glyph horn of winter. It just griefs other DKs that want a 3rd minor glyph as they can't use their horn unless they click yours off. Casting horn is usually desired as it gives runic power instead of having a cost, as long as you can find an open global to do so. glyph of blood tap is the go to.

For the opener, after Icy touch and plague strike for diseases, why you don't Blood Strike first and then Scourge Strike, so that you can get 5% increased damage from the Desolation talent

Great video, good info, although i disagree about one thing, Outbreak is a mandatory endgame talent, since Scourge strike and Plague strike are such a big portion of your damage and in the opener always use blood strike over scourge strike to get the 5% extra damage as early as possible, on bosses with RP i even use Bstrike before i apply my diseases.

armor pen is only good if you have a lot of it - a little bit of armor pen isn't worth it. Because armor pen is so rare in phase 1, don't bother with it at all. Go for hit first, then stack str / haste. You can regem for armor pen late ulduar or at trial

I know Shadow's Edge isn't super great to use, but you have to in order to create Shadowmourne, so by ICC, I expect to be doing less DPS until I go through all the challenges of getting the weapon.

1. no because you snapshot the gargoyle so he benefits from the stats and buffs you have when you summon it. 2. if there is an enhancement shaman there will be a stronger str/agi buff from his totem.

Your rotation becomes (IT + PS + Blood Strike) -> (DND) -> (IT + [PS if Ghoul Frenzy has more than 10 sec remaining, otherwise Ghoul Frenzy] + Blood Boil) -> repeat. When you get the sigil that has a chance to proc 200 str from using scourge strike then it becomes (IT + PS + Blood Strike) -> (DND) -> ([Scourge Strike if Ghoul Frenzy has more than 10 sec remaining, otherwise IT + Ghoul Frenzy] + Blood Boil), of course keeping up HoW and Bone Shield.

For open world definitely Unholy, it lets you get On a Pale Horse (+20% mount speed) and Improved Unholy Presence (+15% move speed in Blood/Frost Presence). Unholy has great sustained AoE damage, and by dumping excess Runic Power into Corpse Explosion you can easily pull several mobs at once. If you care more about dungeon levelling then Frost is probably a better DPS spec. Stuff tends to die super fast in levelling dungeons so Unholy doesn't see it's sustained AoE value. Frost has a lot of immediate burst damage through abilities like Howling Blast, which makes it great for dungeons where mobs die in a few seconds.

@@spawn4760 It really depends which weapons you are looking at, but before 80 I would generally say 2H is better than DW. With a 2H weapon your strikes are going to hit for more, but you maybe do a bit less auto-attack (white hit) damage. DW can be pretty frustrating for levelling if you don't have much hit rating, since you will miss a lot. That said if you have some really good 1H weapons, maybe with a ton of crit rating, they could potentially be better just because of making your Corpse Explosion better. One thing to note is that DK don't start with Mace skill trained, and the weapons you get out of the starting zone are 2H Axe/Sword. So you will need to spend a little bit of time levelling weapon skill if you want to go with something else.

Shouldn’t you first learn to play Unholy before you try to teach others how to max dps? Morbidity get rid of it ASAP and never spec it EVER - 1 point you will be spending in the boost of death coil and that will be Unholy Blight. D&D glyph is only for Halion and nothing else.
