God dammit. This game. This expansion in particular. It got me through some shit times. I would happily spend hours on WoW, in between working at the local store. Life was straightforward and simple, yet kind of directionless. My dad would question when I was going to get out and 'start life' but I kept up the mantra "time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time". See, what people don't understand is that WoW becomes a home. It's music, charm and landscapes are like a warm, reassuring blanket. Here in WoW, you fit in. You have direction through quests and raids, and a team of awesome pals to join you. I wasn't isolated - I had IRL friends, but WoW was my little holiday home. My retreat from stress. I'll always remember looking up from the game one night as my dad chatted casually to me - just to engage with me I think. He scooped up a book I was reading, and put it down on the side of my desk in a slightly balanced/awkward way, and went to bed. I got up the next morning to find he never woke up. He was gone. I watched his body being carried away by paramedics. I reflected on my time spent in this game as a safety net, and quietly vowed to move on and up in the real world. I looked back at the book he put down and realised how much the world had suddenly changed overnight for the worst. How fragile it all was. Now I have a career, my own place, a wife and a child on the way. But I occasionally dip back into this game and see how my characters are doing...see how the world has changed, maybe do a few quests and dungeons and re-live some memories of a time just before my family was torn apart all those years back. The Grizzly Hills and it's music encompasses so many mixed emotions that WoW helped me get through, but also how it allowed me to realise it was time to move on. It was a bittersweet conclusion, but I don't regret playing. I just wish I could relive that peaceful moment I first got lost in the Grizzly Hills. Not a care in the world. If only my dad could see me now.

I lost my best friend right at the end of WOTLK. This was her favorite music. Very sudden. She had a teenage daughter. My dad died about 4 months later. Pretty much sucked all the way around. However,there was comfort in time. For me I looked at the true source of the comfort. Not the means of delivery.

When my dad passed away in 2011, I started to play WoW with a friend. This song was one of the most amazing healing things to me in the game. And some Kate nights after my friend would leave after we played. I'd find myself wandering listening to grizzly hills music just hunting any misc npc with out a quest... Just to listen to this and staying in that moment the grizzly hills had to offer me as I mourned my father alone with my computer and my little toon experiencing a new world away from my current one. This song still makes me cry all this time later.

Reading all these comments made me realize that I never properly mourned WoW. So now I sit here a 29 yr old man crying. I know it sounds silly but this game was such a huge part of my life for 7 years. I quit playing a year ago and I still find myself thinking about it. I have a child and am married now but nothing fills that WoW void. The sense of adventure, friendship, fun, collaboration, community, freedom, and exploring. I'll never forget this god dam game. This song has helped me mourn WoW and the sense of freedom and adventure I lost since I've stopped playing. Nothing will ever compare to Pre-Cata WoW. @Efreeti9 жыл бұрын
***** Way to make assumptions there, buddy. I'm from Bergen, SMACK DAB in the west coast of Norway. I know exactly what Norwegian fjords look like. Almost all of Howling Fjord are canyons with lots of sheer drop cliffs at the coast with beaches underneath. That's just not how glacier fjords are formed, and not how Norway looks. Those sheer cliffs are only there when the canyon is formed by a river slowly eroding the sedimented rock, like how the Grand Canyon was formed. Also, all the trees there are scattered and weird, not forming anything that could remotely be called forests at all, and the colour and placement of the grass does not seem natural. Whenever I go to Howling Fjord it feels foreign to me, like a fantasy landscape would. The complete opposite is true for Grizzly Hills.

The thing that made me love this music was when I was doing a quest "The Cleansing", where you had to go to the peak of a mountain and "Cleanse" yourself from your Inner Turmoil (A crappy Staff-wielding version of yourself). When you defeat him, you actually get a Slow Fall buff, because your Soul has Lightened (Don't ask me, it's gaming logic!). I used this 3 Minute buff to glide to Grizzly Hills, and this music combined made it the most majestic and beautiful moment I ever had in this game.

this track is so beautiful, and has such emotion behind it. The opening fiddle melody presents this zone as it is, untouched by the death and cruelty of the Lich King. Then out of the silence comes the flute with a soft, pained melody reminding us of the pain the rest of the world is suffering. But in the end the fiddle comes back in almost reassuring us that good will win out in the end, and at least we can take comfort in this one place that stands as a reminder that the Lich Kings power is not all-consuming. Such a poignant piece of video game music

The music and scenery of Grizzly Hills will always remind me of home. Of the place I was born. Some called it cold and forbidding and couldn't wait to be anywhere else, but to me it sang with freedom and whispered softly that it would never change. And every time I go to back to visit, it keeps its promise.

This music makes me happy : ) it made me think about how World of Warcraft should be..i think people stop enjoying WoW when they get too into the mechanics, they forget the meaning of the world. When they start caring about only the rewards and not the quest to obtain the reward. They care more about winning that they forget to cherish the moment with the guild..

I always come to this some so I can hear that fiddle solo. I love how they knew it was so good that it's always the default start up some when you come here. So much to do, from the lodge to the campus, the Blooodmoon Fortress... Not too mention wherever the hell Bronzebeard is... Such an iconic zone for an iconic game that got me hooked thanks to all iconic fiddle duet. Seriously this is the zone that made me realize this have isn't just a game. Easily my favorite zone in the game.

When i listen to this music.. all great WoW memories come into my mind.. its like it touches my heart.. i dont know, i get reminded by all those problems we got in real life.. some things that dont work as we would like to, but i dont feel bad about it.. This is one of the best songs ever made for gaming history.. I just went there to get the quests for crusade thingy for the pets and the titles.. but finding this music again is soo great, i cant even write it down how happy i feel just by hearing this music

Was just listening to some irish folk music and remembered this tune from my WoW days. This was the last expansion I played. Listening to it really brings me back. I used to hang out in this part of the map for hours on lazy days to listen to the music. Was a cool trip down memory lane, only to look back at the screen. 11 YEARS?!?? HOLY FUCK. I think I needs to sit down.

Not to sound all high and mighty, but I am music major in college and experience music in my life all day and night. And as a casual gamer I find the score of a game to be one of the most significant enhancements to a game as a whole. With that being said listening to this music while traversing one of the most beautiful landscapes in gaming could almost bring tears to my eyes. I would often stop killing some ridiculous monster and just sit on my gryphon in the sky so that no sound would interrupt this music.

Where have those ten years gone... It feels like a lifetime away now. It was a different game back then, not as rounded and comfortable for the player as it is today. It wasn't about quick and easy gratification, but doing something as a group, succeeding as a group. Yes the heroics were way easier than in TBC and at the end, we got the LFG tool, but it was still a time where the group succeeds and the lone ones only saw a part of the whole experience... Damn, I miss those times. Not just because of what the game was back then, but the people whom I had the pleasure to play with at that time. We thought things would stay like this forever, but ten years later we all have moved on and the time spent in this game and in zones like Grizzly Hills is little more than a fond memory of adventures with friends...

SirMalorak MoP was the best expansion so far so your negativity confuses me.
@SirMalorak10 жыл бұрын
***** Hey man, I liked MoP. As I said, Dungeons and Raids were awesome! (Can't judge PVP as I...Suck at PVP.) I loved the atmosphere and all, but I still don't think Pandaren were a necessity in Lore. I'd have liked other races to be playable. Gotta say that Pandaren sure were unexpected though! When it was leaked MoP was coming no one believed it. Pretty crazy up to this day^^ Again: MoP was pretty cool, not my favorite expansion (It might be yours, which is totally fine) but the pause in the end definetly made it leave a sour taste in my mouth.
@TheSpirosChrist10 жыл бұрын
SirMalorak might be nostalgia talking. But for me the expansions just get progressively worse. Like BC = Amazing = Lich King = Good = Cat = Average. and so on.

I still remember the day i first got to Grizzly Hills and this part of the song stuck out to me 1:46 . Such beautiful music. At max level i would fly back to Grizzly Hills to visit the main town and listen to the music. Im so old now. Where has the time gone.
