I am going to mitigrate Alaya the Alabaster with Murmur!!! (You missed her in your infographic!). Let me make a case for her. My girl Murmur has it all! - Fast Cast - Haste & Unit Resist - Strike Resist - Starts at 55% - Access to Earth Ring - More Lightning Resistance - Natural fit for Dark Golem / Ochu - Defense Destroyer (enhanced Resistance Break for her specifically) - Pierce Attack - Access to Piercing Attacks with Lancer Subjob (sadly scales on ATK) What's not to love?! But joking aside, awesome analysis and video! Looking forward to crushing some Alayas in the future!

I like it for cost limited; outside of that she's just not a competitive unit, her AGI especially is bottom of the barrel.

Hi JB, I just wanted to point out that the Platinum Armour isn't necessarily the best piece of equipment in the game against Alabaster Alaya. She comes with around 60% strike pen res, and the Armour gives us 10 ST res + 10 strike res (most of which will be ignored by her). Comparing that with the Survival Vest: S.Vest: 15 ST res P.Armour: 10 ST res + around 4% effective strike res They end up being arguably similar in terms of effectiveness against her. Having said that, I appreciate the video and you showing the playerbase how to theorycraft against difficult matchups. I'm sure it'll be helpful to many. Cheers!

But are we really splitting hairs to say it’s about equal, or in other words - they’re both the best option we have right now depending on what you can equip? 😜 if we’re going down that road might as well throw in the +2 DEF, +280 HP and 50 elemental debuff resistance, making the plat armor the better overall piece, it’s really not anything to be worried about though since there’s only a couple of units who are even able to equip both.

Great video, loved the intro. XD But yeah, more videos like this would be greatly appreciated. I used to love KSaun's guides on how to beat certain units/teams but then he focused on the tournament thing so there's a nice gap for you to fill there, nobody really makes videos like these helping people to take on teams that are in the meta as far as I know, and this was packed with easy to understand information. :D

What about Noctis? Earth, innate Unit Resist (in near Future), can easily reach nullify Lightning and has tools to work around her counter and courage.

Great video! I followed this strategy the last 2 days in arena. My earth squad wins 100% vs her in lightning squads. But Gumi was ready for this. That is why they made her strike, knowing it has the best job vcs in the game. She can easily be covered vs earth. Bridal Alaya will ruin pvp for a LONG time to come.

I agree, I think this unit was a mistake. The good thing is, we will start getting all of the counter measures here very shortly, the bad part - no one has any vis to pull them lol.

I'm currently using Oberon, SLilyth, and UR Zazan against Lightning teams. With Bridal Alaya and I'm usually left with UR Zazan by the end. I think she doesn't have any guaranteed hits(?) so my max-transcended UR Zazan easily takes her down with 1-2 hits. UR Zazan is a "duelist", so he'll take down every enemy one by one anyways while the others serve as fodder. 😅 If she has Al, Skahal, Cloud, or SHelena with her, that becomes a bit of a problem with their annoying Guaranteed hits. I really hope UR Zazan gets his job upgrade that bestows Guaranteed Hit Nullify while Reraise is in effect. That would be OP and make him top-tier. 😅 But since I'm using a non-optimal Earth team with bonus VCs and unit, their performance is less effective. I think UR Zazan, Muraga, and King Bradley (which I don't have) can chain her to death. 🤔 Just one Ruinous Axe from Muraga and all her useful buffs will be gone. 😅

Alaya being part of the fist group, it won't be uncommon to see her with Edward Elric who complements her extremely well.

For Qmach - if you can get her to maybe 40-50% area resist, along with the unit Resist she gets from her MA2 when that comes along and her protect buff, then she should be able to take one hit from Edward, but likely at critical health, the problem is, Alaya grants reraise removal, so any follow up hit is then likely to kill her. Brad has a little more leeway since no courage removal in the Fist team - unless the tank is down and Ed uses his Strider ability.

Besides her reraise removal, what might just be the scariest thing about Alaya IMO is the CT down effect on Stag Impact, which can make a huge difference in hedging turn orders in her teammates' favor and completely turn games around, and I know it has for me. I've seen players in JP pair it together with adding haste onto Alaya to great effect, although right now I personally prefer to have her use Shadow Dance as her 2nd buff so I can put Bradley's TMR on my 2nd carry.

I also used that with viga. He also has that minus CT on his devastation rend and also combine with alphonse LB slow effect. The enemy basically can't even take a turn 😂

I think you forgot UR Zazan for the Earh recommendations. 😅 He can easily mitigate Slash Res with high innate Slash Pen (around 80% I think?) plus Def Pen (around 40% I think), with excellent evasion to boot. He can attack from the side while a tank like Dialdo or Muraga takes the hits. 😅

I didn't forget him, I just didn't want to list every Earth unit. He's decent into mono lightning, but get's destroyed by Edward Elric who will be a common partner with Alaya.

@@JB79 Yep. With Ed, there's no chance he's winning. A single Adamantine Pillar Transmutation KOs him, sadly. But UR Zazan is still the 'best' Earth unit for an evade comp against mono-lightning teams with Bridal Alaya. It may be too specific, sure, but at least he has a purpose. XD

I think skahl is also one of the good counter against alaya, because : - she can't one shot him - deals so much damage with his LB level damage thundaga disposer (also deals with her friend Alphonse, who is weaker against magic) - thundaga disposer takes away 20 of her AP - skahl vc although outdated, have strike resist

I find putting a tank with a movement passive like shakuchi so units stay back a bit. Aeris tmr is useful as well for 25 unit resist but it is only one cast

I think that's useful with Missile Units, outside of that it's only really going to help you for maybe the first hit of battle as the other units catch up, Alaya will just walk past the tank and hit everyone with her select 3.

it also baits other units to attack the tank and may mess up buff order. Instead of getting her tmr haste buff off she runs up and uses stag or her ulti on the solo tank wasting some ap. Its situational. The tank has to be pretty fast to make this happen tho. Its pretty situational. I used this in arena when facing mirror match. with alphonse running odin and bradly tmr. @@JB79
