Just to clarify here - I don't think either of these 70 cost units are top meta picks, but both will be more niche play with increased value for Limited PVP events like CM or LGB. I think 6k paid for the unit and 200 shards is a nice value for people who regularly spend on the game, but I personally wouldn't advise 36-40k Free to pity either of these units, they're not worth that IMO. Anyway I hope this is helpful for some people that were trying to maybe pick between the 2 and take advantage of that bundle.

i got Ashen Lynx for 7.5k free visiore.. i felt lucky and i was right!. Now im going to buy Kitone as i want them both as options for CMs. One thing to note about HP barrier over regular barriers.. ON HIT status effects dont land on HP barriers, i havent tried w debuffs, but i used status effects too much (to realize and test later) that even without resistances to a status or negative resists.... the status effects dont land until HP barrier are broken.. because Lynx HP barrier is physical status effects tied to physical attacks wont land until depleted (unless they come before dmg or are TP skills). Great point, I didn't elaborate, but that is one of several reasons HP barriers are far superior to the old hit or turn based ones.

That's understandable, for people who regularly spend I think the unit + 200 shards for 6k paid is a nice value, but for people who don't spend as much I totally get it! I wouldn't invest a 36-40k free vis pity into either of these units.

This is a great comparison of the units on paper. I love the presentation and the metrics that are being compared. I agree with you that using these quantitative comparisons miss some of the nuance provided by their kits, ai, and supporting members. I think an accompanying AI test would help capture some of that. Personally I'm a bit underwhelmed by the units. I was looking forward to them because I like the OG versions and play both fist and water. I would have liked them to have a 9 step, and/or been included in the permanent pool. Now I have to think hard about whether or not I pull them for limited guild battles. This was a great resource!

Meta impact wise, I think they're a bit of a step down from some cost 70 units we received recently like Shalze, HLucio, and WRaph - those units though are frankly overpowered for their cost level, so it's a high bar to live up to. I still think they're both pretty strong for their cost and are solid units in the grand scheme of the game, but are both entirely skippable for most players.

The cost to upgrade them is pretty small, just 175 vision shop currency for the tokens and 1m gil. If you're lacking in that currency I would just upgrade whatever main cards you use first. They gave us enough to upgrade like 6 or 8 of them right off the bat.

A big factor for me could be how powerful my Dark is. I currently don't have a viable 70 cost dark unit, though, so Kitone could be a potential target for me depending on the banners.

That is what I was saying there at the end; how the unit fits into your account is a major part of the character evaluation, that frankly I cannot tell you without seeing it for myself.

We celebrated the 4th anniversary of JP at the same time, we're only about 1 month behind them now. The developers will recognize global's true 4th anniversary from when we launched in late march and JP will celebrate it with us, we're about 1 month from that - we should see the return of FF13 as well as our fan voted Jeume unit.

Neither will be added to the standard pool. The Crystal Warriors banners do return periodically though.

If you don't have a good Water box, I really can't imagine you getting a great value of Lynx right now and it would be maybe more of a future investment if you had some thoughts about any of those future potential bow units I talked about.

I'm not exactly sure which options are available to you in the new player banners - I would probably start with an Agility card that supports my main team though as my first choice, and after that I'd try and get an area resist card.

Kit one's drip is cuter, and the dynamic pose helps that but shadiwlynx is such a great character. But Xiza was my first UR, my first 120 and they'll pair well together. Will they ever win, tho...

The disadvanatage is she is range, difficult to chain with your other units.

I don't think that is a difficulty of range units; the difficulty is do they have competitive survivability, utility and damage to make them worth using. For the most part the answer to that question has been no, or at least the answer has been they're more niche; however, I do believe they have at least addressed the survivability and utility arguments with Lynx.

I think both units have looked very underwhelming in practice from what I've seen on JP side compared to their respective kits on paper. I'l pull for Kitone only just because I like the character design.

Kitone for me is a little underwhelming, especially if you have the rest of the fist options; I dont think everyone has access to what Lynx needs to make her work right now, nor is Water or Bow in a top meta position, but I do believe the kit is good enough that the value is there and will probably age better over time.

The unit wont be meta, but is certainly not trash. Water is EASILY playable and strong, if not meta.
