The US military is not going to crush China except perhaps in a limited war. Both countries are on a collision course in the SCS, so a clash of arms there is highly likely sooner or later. Against US seapower, China doesn't stand a chance. US is not so stupid as to send huge ground forces to fight China on the Asian mainland, and neither side is MAD enough to start chucking nukes around. . . .If China invades Taiwan, as it says it will if peaceful persuasion doesn't work, it will find itself at war with USA. The same constraints will apply, so the war will be a naval and air war. Not likely to happen in less than ten years. Mainland China will be defeated unless it has second thoughts on the matter. China has few allies, and none which are naval powers. US has plenty, many of which are naval powers in their own right.

When invading China through the allies, the cooperation or participation of the allies in the war determines whether to accept or reject the cause of the war or the interests of that country, rather than the distance from China or the amount of damage. For example, Taiwan is closer to China than any other country, but if China's invasion of Taiwan is imminent, it will actively cooperate with the US proposal to attack China.

So an overall land invasion of China is actually very unlikely.

Maybe some battles in South Korea in cities like Uijeongbu and maybe even Seoul. But yes, this war would more likely resemble a massive siege that would probably devastate South and East Asia and once again leave China a warring backwater nation. If Russia got really risky and invaded Ukraine, we could count on Russia going through some turmoil as well.

Corrections! 1. Binkov forgot one key point. The Andaman & Nicobar islands of India can be used by the US to blockade the Malacca strait. 60% Chinese trade goes through this route. The use of allies has been important to warfare for some time, and was useful to the U.S. before. The use of allies was important to U.S. efforts in WWII. The U.S. had little trouble deploying and using it's assets in Europe thanks to the U.K. The British Isles was an unsinkable aircraft carrier for the U.S. Army Air Corps, it's ports could house what U.S. Navy ships were deployed to Europe, and it could house U.S. troops, all to attack an enemy not very far away. Contrast to the Pacific, where the U.S. had to fight tooth and nail for every inch gained to even get close enough to Japan to regularly attack the Japanese home islands.

Whilst Vietnam issues a firm stand against China, The Philippines tried to politically bacome neutral in hopes that the Chinese will stop intrusions in its EEZ, even when the Chinese has promised to back down a bit, they do nothing to honor that promise and still continue to claim the Philippine teritories. This just shows that they cannot be trusted and whilst the government might want to stay neutral, the population is overwhelmingly Anti-Chinese as they are angered by years of bullying by China.

I'd have to disagree with the assessment on South Korea for one simple reason, North Korea. In the event that a major war broke out between the United States and China I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that North Korea would immediately try to invade South Korea and as such South Korea would have little choice but to host US forces. I also have serious doubts that Russia would join in on either side as I fail to see what they'd have to gain from joining in on either side that would make it worth the risk.

But in that scenario S. Korea would have their hands tied having to defense against N. Korea at the least, plus China and Russia at the most. These countries have overwhelming strong armies. Japan on the other hand is less exposed by being an archipelago, and the fact that neither of the above countries have strong and united navies, at least relative to their overall military power respectively. While chances are Russian would choose to spectulate rather than particulate as you guys said, it's still a risk too big for the Americans. Hence one of the objective for them to help Ukraines is to deplete the Russians, to a point incapable to meaningfully help China anyway.
