What kind of work would be available?

I live in Iloilo with my wife and two kids. Our oldest is turning four in a few months and we have been wrestling with this same question. We've made our decision though and we will be going back to North Carolina within a year or so. We believe that, staying here, we would be robbing our children of potential opportunity of which there is comparatively little here. We personally thought it would be selfish of us to stay so we will be going back for the sake of our children. Great discussion Gary and Andrew.

If I thought my wife and children would be happier living in the Philippines than the USA , I would live in the Philippines even though there is more economic opportunity in the USA.
@paulcarvalho186 Жыл бұрын
@@johnwray529 Totally agree John. We made the calculation that our children likely wouldn't be happier in the Philippines. We also didn't want them resenting us for having the opportunity to raise them with the benefits of a Western environment but chose not to do so. Survey most young Filipinos if they would rather be in America and they will say yes in a heartbeat. And our decision is based on a lot more than just economics.

I wouldn’t discount me and my wife’s happiness in deciding whether to move or not. Our happiness would redound in a very positive way to are kids and are family unit as a whole.

Thanks Gary. Great talk. Personally i would stay in PH. There’s a reason why many conservatives in the US opt for homeschooling nowadays. Public US schools become less educational and more indoctrination. Basically undermining family values. You should talk to Juells, another youtuber in the dumagette area and ask why he brought his family with teenagers from the US in PH..

You were correct when you said depends on where you live in the USA. Low cost of living and great schools here in Arkansas. My son will have an opportunity to find a job. No jobs in Ph. Except 1$ per hour. But I might go back to Ph.

I hate to disappoint you guys I have a seventeen-year-old in High School. They're more about indoctrinating kids than they are about educating kids. Every year these kids have to take a test to see how the school is rated in the states. They no longer teaching kids way we learned when we were younger the basically just teaching them to pass this test so they can get a good grade and get more money. A majority of the doctors and nurses that are in high demand actually come from the Philippines

As a population we are also constantly bombarded by media/social media that's sadly doing the same thing as the schools. There's a reason depression is at an all time high, because when someone is constantly fed division & negativity its infectious. Getting away from all that junk is the number 1 reason I'll be moving to the deep provence of the Philippines.

@@WhenTheManComesAround I don't think you will ever get away from false information. I think you need to be smart enough to do your own research. Our daughter was not happy at all being in school she wore a shirt with the American flag on it I said God Bless America and she was asked to take it off but yet they can post Pride flags and whatever they want. That's pretty sad

We have two daughters, 15 and 9. I am a retired educator, so I take our girls’ education as critical. In my opinion, schools here are greatly lacking. We left a provincial town Zamboanga del Sur on Mindanao to come to Dumaguete for more educational options. We initially selected a Montessori school. It was atrocious and Montessori in name only. We then looked for other options. The class sizes in public schools in the Philippines may be around 50 students in each class. However, the same is true in many private schools. This means whole group instruction for everyone - which is horrible for many children. After searching extensively, we happened to find a Christian school with an American curriculum. The real plus is that it is predominately individualized for our girls. They have thrived in this environment. Classes are small and our girls are really accelerating their learning. I am sending them to summer school this month to makeup for lost instruction during Covid lockdowns. Special thanks to Lifegivers Christian Academy for answering our prayers. Our girls now meet but mostly exceed grade level in the American curriculum.

If returning, you'd have to enroll kids in a private school because of how screwed up things are. That would place in in the grind of earning enough which puts huge stress on the family. I would suggest looking into online education options, because the long hours of Philippines schools seems incredibly inefficient

America is like Sodom and Gomorrah. I came to escape all that debauchery. Although the Philippines is a Catholic nation, it's still refreshing to see the majority of people who believe in Christ. I'd never wish to go back

I think you've answered your own question, so it's a moot point, you're stuck the Philippines cuz you don't have the $$$ for the airline tickets for a wife & two kids to fly to the USA, & then you'd need a job here, for a way to pay $2,500 per month for a two-bedroom apartment in an unsafe area. So obviously the USA is not an option, unless you save $ for the next 5 years

You're better off homeschooling. The Philippines primary education is sorely lacking.
