@@TheMinimalMom Hi Dawn, I just came up with an idea for your amazon packages issue! You could put/hang a basket or shelve next to the door that the dogs can't reach, in order to put the packages/shipments into. Maybe that would work (for both, the deliverer and the dogs). ☺ Love your channel so much! ♡

When you first did the vlog about only wearing black, it totally inspired me and I have been only wearing blue since. I'm not minimal in what I buy (although I'm not really a big shopper) but I love walking into shops and only having to look at what they have that's blue. It also generally means everything I have goes together. And.... it feels right for me. Thank you for inspiring me to make this change!

Forest bathing is a Japanese concept. “What is forest bathing? In 1982, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries created the term shinrin-yoku, which translates to “forest bathing” or “absorbing the forest atmosphere.” The practice encourages people to simply spend time in nature - no actual bathing required.”

Sad fact with this, when Japan invaded Korea they cut down most of the trees in the Korean forests because they didn't want the people having that energy.

when you decide to camp and the kids are older - take the girls on one trip and the boys on another / and let the ones left behind stay with grandparents. they'll each have their own bunk - YOU'll get out and away TWICE as much and the kids will be able to have a parent apiece. I cannot speak for your parents - but all of them at the same time is overwhelming & breaking them up into smaller groups is much better (and less exhausting for Grandma - hee hee).

I totally agree about forest bathing! When I visited my sister in Colorado we did a bit of light hiking- basically wondering around in the forest😂 there's a special spot where sun filters through the pine branches above, and the piney smell is wonderful and it just rejuvenated my spirit in a special way. If only I had a special spot like that closer to me! But, I do live in a beautiful, lush area that is a blessing to enjoy outside. Not quite the same as the forest, but I'll take it over the city!!

It's so nice to be able to arrange them in configurations that work for different areas. Your new headboard, new flooring, and painted cement look really nice. Your blue shirt is cute and looks great on you but I totally get wanting to have a minimal wardrobe to save time and money. When my kids wore uniforms to school, they could get ready in about 2 minutes. When I was growing up my family had a really basic camper that slept 8. My parents would rent it out to help pay for it. My brothers would sleep in it in our backyard during the summer. You're creating so many fun memories and experiences with the pool, the camper, the chickens and the dogs. Your family is awesome!

It seems counterintuitive, but I've found outdoor dogs are 1000x more work than indoor dogs. Once an indoor dog learns what you expect of it, it just wants to be part of the family/pack. An outdoor dog has time away from humans to get bored and get into trouble, LOTS of trouble, lots of EXPENSIVE trouble! If an indoor dog starts chewing on furniture, a human will notice and redirect it to a better chewing option. Outdoor dogs don't get immediately noticed and redirected so chaos ensues. Especially in a house without carpet, I would rather clean the floors a little more often than clean up the messes those dogs make outside. Just my 2 cents if anyone wants them.

Regarding the dogs chewing everything, it sounds like they need some focused training time - don't leave it unaddressed in the hope that they will just grow out of it because this is an impressionable time when they are forming habits for life. There are lots of free resources available online for learning positive reinforcement training - that could be the kids' research project if it isn't something you are already looking into 🙂

I have very pale skin so wearing black tops makes me look ghostly unless I wear foundation, which I don’t very often. Navy blue is a good alternative though for me. I think the blue top you have on today really suits you.

I'm really into color theory and seasonal color analysis. Cardigan Empire has some really great content on this. Everyone CAN wear black but not everyone SHOULD 😂. I am in this camp. Black washes me out. Putting the right colors next to your skin brightens your eyes and skin tone, makes a person look younger and actually compliments who they are personality wise as well.

👍👍👍👍 for the workbook!! I have published a book of Christian music that I have written, and it was a TON of work. It took me 18 months! So I fully appreciate the LABOR that went into that workbook!! And it's been such a blessing to me and my family!! My mom doesn't do any KZbin, but has had an overflowing basement for years. Every day off she would say "I need to work on my basement!" I gave her your workbook for Christmas and the lightbulb went off over her head..."I dont need to organize, I need to declutter!!" You gave such clear instructions and tools, and she had that basement decluttered by February! And the burden of that was gone!! I'm still working on my house, I know I have made a difference but I have so far to go! 3 kids age 6 and under, plus 1 on the way, so not a lot of strength and energy to tackle much or maintain much! Thank you for your workbook!!

I think they made it into the foster child room. Except they haven't moved all the way out of their old room. They still keep all their clothes in there, which will create a weird vibe for any foster child that arrives. A baby wouldn't care, but older children need a space that's their own.

We have a big wooden playset with a slide in the garden and except putting it up (which was a pain) I don’t regret it. My son is 5 and still loves a lot. We sometimes put a lot of pillows on the tower and eat icecream and read books up there together. So it even gets used by me a lot :)

I have watched THE DOG DADDY on KZbin for a while now & I am highly impressed. He is particularly amazing when he is out with his dogs & comes across an aggressive dog. He gets the owner to allow him to access the dog & in 1 minute or under has the dog under his control AND following commands/instructions. Absolutely fantastic to watch him. Also when he walks his 5 German Shepherds off leash in a city, it is impressive to watch. They understand the assignment & are happy following previously taught training. He has shown his 5 dogs on leash, but in the down-stay position on a sidewalk. Then he gets someone to pretend to steal them by picking up their leashes & take them away, BUT The Dog Daddy has taught them to run to him if they sense danger so the dogs drag the would-be thief straight to The Dog Daddy. Fabulous channel that I hope you check out. My best to you & yours.

Hey! Dog trainer here. The main reason that your pups would be chewing inappropriate things is because their needs are somehow not being met. Adolescent dogs have a *lot* of needs, but if you stick with it now, they're going to be amazing adult dogs. With outdoor dogs who have access to 5 acres, it can be really tempting to believe they would be able to meet all their needs with that, but the reality is that most outdoor dogs who don't have a job are lacking in simulation which is why they do things we don't like. The vast majority of my client's dogs who have "problem behaviors" can be solved by making sure the dogs can have a good amount of mental stimulation, social interaction, and physical exercise. Mental stimulation is often the most neglected area for most dogs, but some great activities can be having dogs search for toys, as methodically searching for things is really, really mentally stimulating and should hopefully direct their attention towards those types of activities instead of finding Amazon boxes and ripping them up.

I have a black wardrobe as well. I add splashes of color, but only for church and co op day. And usually just olive green. Makes life easy. Our chickens only lay heavily 6 mos of the year. I like to keep 20 to keep us in eggs through the winter. I’ve been watching your videos this past week. I’ve been wanting to make the move towards minimalism. I’ve done a lot of decluttering and purging. Thanks for the inspiration. Today I decluttered and purged my 18 y/o’s room as a surprise. Hope she will be happy with it when she gets home. I have piles and bags for her to look through, but I think (hope) she will be relieved that it’s done. I did my 14 y/o sons a few weeks ago and he says she will be so happy with it!
