@@j.n.3577 You have to understand the Bible and the sequence of events. Old Testament deals with Israel being under "The Law". They were far from perfect people, but they were chosen by God. For them, God issued 10 commandments and 600+ laws because they were so corrupted in their hearts that no one would survive if every sin was punishable by death. Those laws were made for Israel and they are not to be taken out of context. Those laws don't reflect the personality of God, they just reflect the corruption of Israel. Jesus on the other hand reflects the personality of God, He gave the 2 commandments that overwrite all 600 of them. Matthew 22:37-40 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. People try too hard to depict God anything else but love. You have to study the Bible and see for yourself.
@j.n.35774 жыл бұрын
@@tygerovi Those evil laws cannot be dismissed since it was cruel behavior condoned. There isn't any context that makes it morally acceptable unless you condone/passively endorse human (sex) trafficking which the Scripture there clearly does. I'm not claiming it reflects any god, esp. since the Bible was written by men. Ceremonial laws may have been abolished, but that is the only thing I've seen, such as certain dietary and clothing restrictions.

Yeah - God defines marriage. It does not need to be re-defined.
@jean-pauldebeer81514 жыл бұрын
Please may I share my testimony with you. I always knew that I was gay, and from a very young age I prayed to God asking Him to take these tendencies away. Many years later on one particularly bad night, I believed I was going to die. In the depth of my despair, I asked Lord Jesus for forgiveness and to my surprise He answered me. My spirit has burst into such powerful flames of love and mercy that it has seemed as if I was totally dissolved in Him. By this stage I was already in a loving relationship with my partner, and when I asked Jesus if I should leave my partner. The Lord told me to regard him as my husband

@@jasonhockly8655 Unfortunately many do not possess the correct orthodox understanding on scripture and Christians feel that repentance is a once off act. Repentance is a life long struggle, one that continually demands that we analyse the sinfulness within our selves and seek the mercy of God to overcome these sinful tendencies. Pointing out the sinfulness in others is a judgmental sinful tendency that needs to be repentances of. The Pharisees were very happy to point out the sinfulness and shortcomings in others but failed to see their own. Jesus condemned this behavior. By pointing out the sinfulness in others we become like the Pharisees who were very happy to have St Mary Madelaine stoned. We behave the same way when we throw scripture to others to highlight their sinfulness. But Jesus said that those are are free from sin may cast the first stone. I always find it helpful to regard myself as the worst of all sinners. As this puts me in a position of humility and powers where it makes it easier to never judge others.

@SavioursWon6 ай бұрын
It really doesn't apply. While he quotes 1 Cor 6 he forgets 1 Cor 5:9-12 I wonder how many people invite unbelieving friends to their Christian weddings, does that then make their wedding acceptable and unbelieving, well looking at the divorce rate maybe they are unbelieving to begin with, or valid why would we think our attendance in some way means affirmation. When you protest something you can do it in many ways I would have taken a Bible as a gift and highlight every passage. We are to make disciples use your opportunities as you can. Maybe it would be good to sit and cry at these physicalist humanist "weddings" or "marriages" or "unions" because it is truly a sad occasion. It should be attended as anyone attends a funeral.
@mhwt5656 ай бұрын
@SavioursWon but what you're saying when you state, "use your opportunities as you can" is that the end justifies the means. But we know that we have to do what is pleasing in the eyes of the Lord. Just because we we might be able to "disciple" them by showing love at their wedding (if we can call it that), doesn't mean it's the right thing.
@SavioursWon6 ай бұрын
@@mhwt565 ("use your opportunities as you can" is that the end justifies the means) that is clearly a false equivalence, making disciples is pleasing to the Lord. It is the duty of all Christians. Further "17But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. 20But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. 22Be merciful to those who doubt; 23save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear-hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh." Try to understand, Christians are like people who have a cold and are contagious and they go around to others who also have a cold and they sit there giving each other c cold when what we are supposed to do is be contagious to others. You cannot live in isolation and be effective in the ministry. This is the reason I previously posted 1 Cor 5. God bless.

@@KNIGHTFOX80 yeah long winded and sorry they never once show why going to this event was actually sinful, they just make weak analogies and make up things about what Jesus would or would not doand try and say that the gospel accounts for everything that Jesus did, they poison the well, make strawman arguments about what the sermon was about and I get they felt offended by his response but he really never needed to respond to begin with or apologise, nor should the church act like cancel culture thugs we see running around, what they have to do is show the sinfulness of being in attendance is sinful and this they are unable to do, the only reason I would not send someone to this event is because it may affect them seeing the degradation but not everyone is so thin skinned that they are unable to stand firm on the truth in the face of evil and show God's love that He came down and walked among filthy disgusting constantly sinning sinners in all their daily and constant filth and hatred and blasphemy of God. Please we really need to see God's love clearly and not invent this idea to not infiltrate and influence the culture the world or the church will become irrelevant. Hey but maybe I'm just not so bright and all these clever people are just far too smart. You have to deal with 1 Cor 5 and other passages which tell us to influence the culture. Hey Craig, Wow. Someone's done some research here. I'll reply to this but I really can't let it turn into a debate. As for it being my opinion, the Scriptures say what they say. It's pretty clear. Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Judges 19: 22-23, 1 Corinthians 6: 9-10, and there are a couple of others. The scriptures never use the word "homosexual" in the original languages because the word wasn't used then, just as it wasn't in many of the earlier English translations. But the truth is there. As for them being "unchanged by man," they were translated into English. But that doesn't invalidate the meaning. God intended man to be with woman in marriage and sexual intimacy (which is only within marriage). I highly recommend reading the scriptures I listed above in many of the translations you listed. Read them in light of both Romans chapter 1 and Jude vs. 7. And also search out the meanings of the words in the Greek and Hebrew, including the moods, tenses, etc. Honestly, I doubt either of us will be able to change the opinions of the other but as I said in my previous comment, if the scriptures contradict what I've listed or said here, I'm certainly open to seeing them. And please understand, as I said, it's not about opinions. I follow Jesus Christ as my King. He is the Word of God. And if God says something is against His will, I must line up with it. Thanks for the comments Craig.

What a great answer: thorough, Biblical, loving, humble. When I became a new believer in Jesus Christ in the early 1980's, my mother invited me to attend "an exchange of vows" between two women. Of course, it was not "legal" then, but some homosaxuals were exchanging vows. I gave similar reasoning for not attending, and my mother exploded with profanity and accusation. I think her reason for inviting me in the first place, was so that she'd have a reason to unload this animosity against Christ, primarily. How sad. But as a new believer, it was difficult for me to choose loyalty to Christ first, since she was the only (birth) family that I had. There is sufficient reward in Christ for choosing what honors Him, and of course the whole body of Christ is my spiritual family. But I can certainly empathize with believers who are put into this circumstance, and the family implications that surround it. Thank God for the clarity of His Word. And thank God for Pastors who are courageous and do not cave in to the world and society.

I came across your comment as i was watching the video. Currently my fiance is in a similar situation, his sister is getting "married" she invited us both, in which i say thanks for the invite but i can't attend. But his mother said he needs to go, even though she knows he does not agree with this union to begin with, she "believes in God' but she is not a firm believer. My mother in law is permitting this, and she is okay with it or seems like it, and i think her way of showing love is by going and being present. My fiance's dad is more of a solid believer and sound in scripture but he pretty much does what the wife says or feels obligated to go because is his daughter and also bc my mother in law makes it seem like a "you must go" My mother in law even told my fiance that she wouldn't come to our wedding if he doesn't go to his sisters, that broke my heart tbh. We both know we would not feel comfortable at all attending and pretending to be okay with it and how piper mentioned "lying" about it being okay. I can see he is very hurt by this because is his family and to be put in a situation like this "if you dont go... then i wont.." especially from his mother. I just pray the Lord continue to give him the strength to stay firm and faithful to the Lord and do what honors him.

Love is NOT accepting EVERYTHING about a person. There are things that I will not accept even in my own children. That does not mean I don't love them. My love FOR THEM is unconditional. However, I don't have to love everything they do... just them. I'm sure that most of you calling this man a bigot or whatever would not and do not accept certain behaviors from people that you love. They cannot do whatever they want to do to you or around you. That does not mean that you do not love them. It just means that some of their behaviors go against something you believe in. If you don't want to be a Christian, then don't be. You don't have to believe in the Bible. But as in every type of organization there are rules you must adhere to to be a part of that organization. If you want to actively participate in that lifestyle, then you cannot be a Christian. We are talking about a lifestyle... there are certain lifestyles, homosexuality is one of them, that I do not support. That does not mean that I don't love the people who say they are. It just means that I don't /won't support what I don't believe in. I don't have to love homosexuality to love them as individuals. I love my God more than I love sin. I have friends that love the New York Giants. I HATE the Giants and all that goes into supporting them. But I love my friends that support them. Same premise. So stop calling people names when they don't love EVERYTHING you do. That is not a prerequisite for love. Love should be unconditional. Also remember that everything you "LOVE" is not always good for you... Just because two adults find common ground in something doesn't make it the right thing to do, especially as it pertains to the Bible. If you don't want to be Christian, then don't be. But don't level dispersions at those of us that want to be. Something to think about.

I was still a young Christian and I never felt like it was my place to directly tell them they were wrong, since my cousin is quite a few years older than I am and we were never really that close growing up. But I can say that at the wedding, I did not really enjoy myself. I felt like a huge part of what marriage is meant to be was missing and it just didn't feel real. I ended up dancing for one song and then sat at the table and wanted to go to bed. I feel sad for my cousin and I don't really know how to help him. And now, he and the guy he calls his husband have created 2 beautiful baby girls via in-vitro fertilization and a surrogate mother, and I also don't know how to react to this process. They are innocent babies created in the image of God and I am trying to celebrate their lives. But at the same time I am heartbroken that they aren't being raised by their mother and instead have two fathers. Also I'm scared that they won't teach these precious babies about Jesus and that when they grow up, they will only see a god who is against their fathers. Please pray for my family and these baby girls. Thank you!

Perverse and mentally sick world we live in, when we even consider the abomination of 2 men getting married as even close to legitimate. Marriage is for a man and woman. Adam and Eve, NOT Adam and Steve.
@wiiu7640 Жыл бұрын
I have to ask about your ideology. Do you believe that there is a difference between the soul of a women and the soul of a man? If the answer is yes, do you believe that it is possible for a women to be born in the body of a man? Personally I don't think that there is a difference. If the answer is no, why is it wrong if the union is joined in heaven? When you go to heaven will it matter, or do you even believe marriage carries into heaven? Do you believe if a women can not have babies that she can never marry someone? What is your definition of biblically moralized sex? What is the purpose of sex if procreation is no longer possible for an individual? Do you believe that people who are unable to have babies must become eunuchs? Do you believe that divorce is wrong? Do you believe that the reason God created women was solely for sexual enjoyment? What do you believe the Bible is talking about when it says that he made man and women in his image? Did God make man and women physically in his image or spiritually? Why would God create a difference in gender in the first place, considering that some animals reproduce with only one gender and sometimes even asexually? I mean I'm not someone who can easily answer all these questions by myself. I think these questions are very complex and require an understanding that only multiple people can truly answer. I do know that Paul also wrote to look at the principles of the Bible and not get hung up on specific lines. Keep in mind that the word homosexuality wasn't invented until at least a millennium after Paul had written parts of the new testament and even then, what they would have defined that term as would be closer to adultery than monogamy. Unfortunately, we can't go ask Paul what he thinks about modern day homosexuality. We can, however, follow translation throughout the centuries. People used to translate those parts as child molester. It seems to me that further study is needed to verify that this is the case. There are documents from the ancient Roman era that explain how men of status would raise the status of young boys in exchange for sexual favors. Is this the abomination that Paul is referring to? Again, I believe multiple people have to dig into this and come up with more arguments. There's a lot of evidence and some of it makes sense while others don't. It's hard to make an argument because we don't really have a definition for love. Sure, you can find it in a dictionary, but believe me I've tried to define love and it still never quite grasps what the words really means. I supposed it's because you can't tell someone what love is without first feeling it in some way. It's like explaining what the color blue looks like to a blind man. I think we should let people decide for themselves if they truly love someone, and hope to God that they'll listen to God. It is not our place to judge someone based on their beliefs. If it is a family member and it means a lot to them, I think you should go. It's not to approve of the couple being together, it's to be there for someone because it matters to them that you're there. Ultimately, you have to be the bigger man and do what's right even if you disapprove of what someone else is doing.

My spirit has burst into such powerful flames of love and mercy that it has seemed as if I was totally dissolved in Him. To make it even more general, would Piper say that a Christian should not attend the wedding of a non-believer? How is their union (or perhaps he would say "union") as unrepentant sinners, any different than a gay couple marrying? Equally, would he claim that sitting down to dinner at a gay couple's home is sinful because it "blesses" their sin? I think his approach to this question leaves a gaping hole regarding how Christians love sinners even in the midst of their sin. Which is, of course, exactly what Christ did for us.
@swtor204 жыл бұрын
@Ann As a devout christian, I see no problem with attending a marriage where the couple sinned before their union they will have together with themselves and with the Lord. Sinning or making a mistake does not make their marriage any less valid or beautiful or real in God's eyes. But when talking about a gay "marriage" the whole thing is an absolute fraud and a rebellion against God's holy created order. God defines marriage because he created it, we have absolutely no right to change it or practice it in any other way then he decreed.
@590654 жыл бұрын

I agree with you @swtor. Paraphrase the bi le if you are burning you should get married. That means to correct all wrong. So if you are in fornication you get married. Marriage is still to create union, if they marry then it is a repentance because they will have sex the way it was meant.

I am not a Christian but I hope my thoughts are welcomed here. I thought Pastor John presented an empassioned case for what naturally follows if one accepts the tenets of Christianity. For me, my means of empathising with this is to liken Christian tenets to mathematical axioms in that, if they are accepted, what follows can be internally consistent. But what struck me more and what motivated me to comment is not necessarily this consistency, but more that I discerned an earnest compassion and a heartfelt remorse in John's voice imagining his son spending an eternity in hellfire for following a path towards a sincere, if axiomatically misguided, conception of love. This must be a struggle for Christians when love is invoked in support of acceptance of LBG+ lifestyles for, of course, who would dare argue against love? That's the definition of hate. But if one wholeheartedly accepts the tenets of Christianity, the most loving thing one can do for a loved one is to guide them on a pathway away from eternal damnation. That must be so tough to grapple with day-to-day. I do feel for you. I know we're all just trying to do what we think is best for ourselves and our loved ones.

He said it as politely and calmly as possible, just clarifying that it is a sin based on the information found in the Bible. That, to God, a marriage is between a man and a woman. So while the “marriage” is a cultural, or lawful marriage in the eyes of the culture or government, it is not a Marriage as defined by the Old Testament nor New Testament. In fact, both Testaments define it as sin, so to attend and pretend it isn’t sinful in accordance to the Word of God is just that, it would be pretending.

WAIT! So your saying that not accepting someone for who they truly are is full of LOVE? How does that make sense? If anyone in the comments can answer me that, I would greatly appreciated.
@dawnelliott72088 жыл бұрын
Alex, you can love someone but disagree with them, or believe they are doing something wrong. If your dog chews up your living room, you think that was bad of your dog but you still love him. If someone you love killed someone, committed adultery, robbed a bank, etc., you might think those actions are wrong, but you still love them and care about them. Tolerance is being civil with that person, even if they are doing things you don't accept as moral. If your brother keeps annoying you and you take it patiently, you are being tolerant. To be tolerant suggests there is something you are being tolerant of that you dislike, or else there's no need to tolerate it. You are happy! Did that give clarity? Another thing to note is that there is no evidence of a gay gene. People are not born homosexual or lesbian. It's certainly a multifactoral thing, very complex, but this is something that God can heal.
@johncraske8 жыл бұрын
Dawn, I fully accept that the reason you think that homosexuality is wrong is because of your religion. It says in the bible that it is wrong, ergo it is wrong. But I do wish that people of your persuasion would not then make unsubstantiated statements such as ' people are not born homosexual or lesbian' Really? Are you an expert on homosexuality? If not, what research are you quoting? I assume you must be quoting convincing scientific research, otherwise you wouldn't make such a statement as if it were an undisputed fact. And what exactly do you mean by it's a 'multifactoral' thing? Explain, please.

John, that's a fair question. Yes, I have done research on this very topic as I wrote a book called, "Fully Persuaded." www.amazon.com/Fully-Persuaded-Dawn-Foss/dp/1632688875. I had a section on homosexuality in this book. I'm also a family nurse practitioner. You see, science doesn't change, but perspectives on the data do. If you are anti-God, you will view it through those lenses. If you are pro-God, you will view life through those lenses. It's called a biblical vs. secular world view. The links below are statements from the Christian Medical and Dental Assoc. and then I also included a link to Focus on the Family's site on this topic as well. @@satellitesurfrockanthonyak5738 God hates the sinner not the sin. This isn't personal I try to tell people but people are so attached to their sin that it becomes personal to them unfortunately. We need to teach grace before judgment but if we reject grace judgement does come eventually and im happy your brother was able to repent from his lifestyle. Sin at the end of the day is just selfishness. People have becomes lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. Theres a fine line between being graceful with people and being cowardly. If there's a hole in front of your brother or sister it is your duty to tell them about that hole in front of them and not let them think that you agree with the lifestyle. The reality is some people just haven't had their ideas challenged and we shouldn't sacrifice telling the truth in order to appease a lifestyle we know is wrong for fear of offending someone. The worlds normalization of this lifestyle has really blurred peoples lines of whats acceptable and not when just a couple decades ago the answer was clear but now people are too politicaly correct to rebuke the LGBT religion. They've moved the overten window and im not moving with it.This is bigger than all of us and the sooner people realize that the better. Grace is important but just as important is the fear of God and thats the key element thats missing from people that live this lifestyle. We don't want people to deal with God's wrath because it is the worst thing that can be upon you. We want them to remember to appreciate God's grace and let those things go so they don't have to deal with that wrath that's coming. People are too shortsighted to see this thats why its our job to remind them because if you don't then you have blood on your hands but only God can change someone's heart. Its our job to remind people of God's grace but also his judgement. And if you understand God's judgement then it leads you right into his grace. Scares you straight so to speak no pun intended lol thankfully God's grace is amazing and people still have time to repent and im thankful for that and thankful your brother had one last shot before it was time to leave from here. Long story short you either get convicted of your sin in this world and repent from it or you'll face God with it when you leave and we all know thats a recipe for disaster. This is why Jesus said to forgive them for they do not know what they do. Because if they did know then they wouldn't be doing what their doing but let's hope and pray more people see the error in their ways so they may too be apart of eternity with God and not sacrifice is for temporary wicked pleasure.

Its something I truly feel at this time and its the words of the Lord Jesus Christ who is God.Amen. ssage Resources Hebrew/Greek Your Content Matthew 10 King James Version 10 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. 5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. 9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, 10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. 11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12 And when ye come into an house, salute it. 13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. 15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. 16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. 21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. 24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. God bless you and thank you for the verses. Mercy truly great thanks to God. It is one of many and maybe the most important gift of them all. With that being said may God have mercy on all of us. I have several gay friends two had children naturally from a prior marriage before they came out and four used a serrogate and the men used their own sperm so the children are also natural. Science is an amazing thing and your closed minded beliefs are old and outdated. Also there are many children that need a family and adoption is also a loving and wonderful thing. I think you may be a good person but obviously you just don't understand that you should not judge others. It's for God to judge and if he is a loving caring God then homosexuals have nothing to fear. Homosexuality is like Heterosexuality and is not a choice. It appears in nature and it's not evil it's part of natural selection which Darwin proved is how we all evolved. Only hatred (usually fueled by religious morals) think it is bad. This pastor has every right to believe as he does. My question to the reader of this comment is this: What is more important to you, the purity of your witness (which makes it all about you), or the redemption of the two souls you believe are in deadly peril. If I were your brother, or your son, or your father, and you distance yourself from me, and refused to welcome my beloved into the family, and dare to presume that you are closer to God and more righteous than the two of us, then all you would accomplish is to convince me that you are mistaken and that God is to be found elsewhere. However, if you tell the truth once about your convictions, then proceed to show us all the love and welcome that you would to any other members of the family, I might begin to suspect that the Spirit of God is actually speaking through you after all. I speak from personal experience.

Genuine question: can't I still at least go to the gathering? I don't have to believe that it's a real wedding but being there for the people that want me there, isnt that important? To be there for the people you love? What if I'm just sitting there and not celebrating but just being there? If it's important to the families, why shouldn't I go? And isn't going showing love? Isnt attending the gathering going to demonstrate that God knows who we really are and sees us as we are and still died for us? Cant we at least be there for the people and then when they need our help, point them to Jesus?? Arent we all sinners and imperfect? Should people not come to my gatherings anymore because of my sin? I'm asking because I have been put on the other side of this before. When I was fighting with my sister, my Christian aunts did not want to speak with me and they left me feeling so isolated when all I really needed was for them to be there for me and not take sides. If it's true that God is great, why were they so threatened by our bickering? Shouldn't we as Christians not be intimidated by evil? We are not overcome because of God. So why do we act like we are overcome? Arent nonChristians just going to think we are afraid when we shy away from events like that?

I am in a difficult situation because I got saved 5 years ago and from the age of 4 I’ve known my dad to be homosexual, I had always grown up knowing it wasn’t ‘normal’ but I loved and still love my dad a lot I used to celebrate his sexuality and if anyone spoke against him or made fun of him because of it o would get very angry. My dad announced he was getting married last year and I couldn’t celebrate it, I couldn’t go to it or wish him congratulations because I know what I didn’t know before, I love my dad and I was bold enough to tell him why I couldn’t go or celebrate it, I tried to tell him in the gentle and kindest way I could and explained that we are all sinners in need of saving and gossip or lying is no greater than homosexuality, it has completely ruined our relationship I’m heartbroken and hurt because dad has taken this as a rejection from me and I’m a bigoted Christian labelled as hateful towards the gay community. I have tried to explain to him but I can’t do anymore he lives abroad so I never see him which makes it worse. This had been a testing time for me these past 3 years. But I know he needs saving I know he needs Jesus so I can’t celebrate what god calls sin and watch my dad walk into hell, I love him and want to tell him the truth even if that means our relationship is fractured. Please pray for me for wisdom and understanding and please pray for my dad Neil, thank you

Charlene Bains:stay the course, run the race, endure. We are to love God more than man, even our very own family. If your Dad truly loved with the agape love he should have for his child, then your opinion of his lifestyle would not stop him loving you. Sadly the human heart is more wicked, more deceptive than most of us begin to acknowledge. Sexual preference is not something we are born with. This one of the greatest lies of the devil. If people were born 'gay' then people are born 'pedophile'. Taste for certain things is not what we are, it is simply we get a taste and a liking and so have preferences through experiences and by how our minds process these experiences. Love your Dad, pray for him daily, never give up hope. Being reborn in the spirit changes not only hearts (love of evil) but changes mind (having the mind of Christ in us) and we turn from sin which is essentially everything that harms us and separates us from God.

@@craigd9896 the Bible does speak plainly on marriage. Unfortunately, your examples do not hold water. . Does the Bible speak about people engaged in polygamy? Yes. Does the Bible affirm polygamy? No. I cite as an example one of the patriarchs, Jacob. If you follow the course of his life, it was beset with arguing wives, rebellious and almost murderous sons, strife, and much sorrow. His grandfather Abraham was also married to more than one woman: and it did not work out well for him either. Jealous infighting among wives was common, and that lead to many sorrows. And King David...oh my. His sexual misdeeds caused him many problems. He lost the child conceived in adultery with Bathsheeba. One of his sons Absalom plotted his overthrow and death. Another one of his sons raped his half-sister. If you want to use David as an example, follow the whole story from beginning to end. He suffered the result of his sins many times over. Please do not confuse speaking about polygamy as condoning polygamy. . The practice of wedding rape was a concession to the then-tribal cultures of ancient Mesopotamia. In those ancient societies, if a woman was raped she was "damaged good" and no reputable man would want to marry her. Her choice would be to become a prostitute or starve to death. The law of Moses required the man who "damaged" her to take her into his home, care for her, and provide for her. This was an amazing step of mercy that would restore her social standing and allow her to live and have legitimate sons who could be heirs of a family line. The Bible doesn't condone rape: it provides a merciful outcome to a terrible situation. .
