That judge SERIOUSLY said that she wouldn't make him pay any money back because it would just result in him conning again??!!?? What kind of an IDIOT judge is she?? He's going to con other people regardless! He's a CONMAN. That's what they do! She just basically gave him permission to do it again, knowing he wouldn't face any consequences. These woman are facing financial repercussions that will last for years, and he just walks away scot-free, after barely a slap on the wrist, to do it again. My best mate and I were on the same online dating site at the same time for a short while. We happened to be approached by the same men quite a few times (they didn't realise we were friends) and used to catch up and compare notes about what we'd been told. In most cases, the details we'd been given were different and it was a real shocker how many shallow fraudsters there are out there. We're both happily settled now in our respective relationships, but I'm so glad we had that realisation moment back when we were a lot younger and more open to believing a load of guff.

All romance conmen are either a doctor, a pilot or a secret agent 😂 For the brief period of time in my early 30's when I did online dating, I've met several so-called conmen and emotional wanna be manipulators. I'm very grateful for my strong intuition and the ability to read people well. I'd kick them out of my life after few dates. By the way, if a man seems not to rush which is seen as a good sign, there is actually a reason for that. He is seeing other women so there's no rush for him. Another red flag, overly too polite ones who perfected their conventional romance skills taking you for trips, flowers, door opening, chair moving, etc...That's why I also stopped online dating because for me personally it felt like a waste of my energy and time. I'd rather invest in myself and people who are already important part of my life. No time for loosers!

Same here. Except for my husband I'm very happily married to now, my 2 previous relationships were similar Guy had a job, that he quit to move in with me, promised to look for a job immediately, and had savings plus a credit card paid for by his parents to tide him over until he got a job. He lived with me for a year and a half, without any effort whatsoever to get a job, not paying for much (like, he'd only eat rice + beans and cheap shit like that, refused to pay for anything 'not his' even if it was something I used to make dinner for him or something ('I don't use stick butter, I'm not paying for it' etc, bullshit like that), and though we both had cars we almost exclusively drove mine, he did not want me even to ride in his car w him, it seemed. And, being my car, it was my 'responsibility to pay for gas', even if I was taking him somewhere! And if my car was out of gas or in the shop and I needed a ride to the emergency room, he refused to either drive me or let me use his car.) When I kicked him out, I didn't speak to him for days, except for approaching him after about 5 days to ask him if he had started arranging to move out, and he just looked at me and said 'oh I didn't think you were serious. I didn't think you meant it' He ended up moving back in with his parents.

I’ve worked since the age of 16 and always paid my bills, rent, car finance etc. I can’t even imagine anyone- family, friend or partner living with me and not contributing financially. Not victim blaming but no matter how much I love someone or think I love them, if we move in together, they would have to contribute towards the costs. I respect the women for sharing their stories though and nobody’s perfect, we can all learn from our mistakes. Men and women scam and con money from people through their looks, personality, MLM schemes, and in other ways so we just have to learn to act on their red flags, be guided by a person’s actions instead of words, and love ourselves enough to know what we deserve in a relationship. Someone who cares about you won’t watch you struggle in debt or lie to you, or take everything from you.

I’m just trying to remember when I first met my ex. I was 24 then. Would I have leant him money? At the time I probably would have. I was very naïve then and I thought I was ‘in love’. Eight years later, we bought a house together. He turned into a monster. A drinker, gambler and a liar. I had bailiffs at the door and he was taking loans out to fund his habits, and not making payments. He was also a bully and a cheat and nasty. We split up in 2000 and I stood out for a payment from the house. I am 67 now, still single and love the single life. No man would do that to me ever again. I've had at least 20 random men ask me for money. I say what my dad told me to say: "I don't hang out with bums". It works every time. They always get offended which is exactly what I want. Then I block them. Seriously if a guy is bumming money, he clearly doesn't have his financial life together.

Even if you fell in live with a poor man, if he's even half a decent person, he would be gratefull for living with you and have the house expenses and food payed for. Then he would make a good starting point of that, by getting a job and geting his life together. A conman is never gratefull, he keeps stealing.

In psychological terms, it's called "idealizstion". We are brainwashed by movies, social media that there are people living perfect lives out there somewhere. People are not perfect. And really, opening a door is free, moving a chair is free. It takes time to get to know someone. Moving in with someone a month after you've met them or their family is just nuts! Don't rush into any relationship until you've had time to get to know a man and they've EARNED your respect and trust. Many women are too quick to commit their hearts and their means and jump into bed. Just STOP and take your time. This is why these conmen succeed. Forget the charm. That's normally nothing but a facade to get your attention. Yes, it's flattering that they will make you their project. Not because they're genuine about you, but because they're focus is to scam you! Also, do your background checks and do not run round after strangers or lend money or pay for stuff. Scammers always create constant mystery to conceal their lies and have fantastic, exciting sounding lives!

This guy is a sociopath! Sounds just like my ex husband, the only difference is his name! Manipulation and charm are their "tools of the trade" and they look for women who have compassion and empathy (they have neither of these). I am a giver, never a taker and he used it to his advantage. Most of them stay just under the radar and are not brought to justice. Cold hard fact of life. Those who think they would not fall victim, beware these people (men and women) are a step ahead of the honest person.

At the point where she lent him money and he “repaid” her into the wrong account and then said “it’s your fault you’ve lost it all now”… why didn’t her feelings for him immediately turn from affection to hatred? There is something wrong with these women. They see terrible moral flaws in their lover - and then choose to continue the relationship. I think it’s an indictment on the women morals actually. It reflects on who THEY really are too.

Many European countries have court systems that are WAY too lenient on some criminals. I know that here in the US we are often TOO harsh on some crimes, but I am left flabbergasted at times when I see some of the super light punishments of criminals in Europe- ESPECIALLY violent criminals that perform SA (or other terrible crimes). It's always gone on and always will. In the Victorian period there was something of a tradition of it. Rich unattached ladies on holiday at seaside resorts like Bournemouth, would be swept off their feet by a handsome stranger. After a whirlwind courtship, the charming man would then set about depriving them of their fortunes and sometimes their lives

It IS her fault! She gave money she didn't have to someone who made her feel bad about herself because she was desperate and was hoping the charming and generous man she had first met would re-emerge. A month of bliss, the.months of misery. She should have figured out who the real person was. When will women stop buying into the idea of a prince charming who will come and whisk them away to live happily ever after? When I see little girls wearing princess outfits, in 2022, I want to scream! STILL? Mothers: teach your little girls to know their own worth so that when a conman comes round, they will see through the disguise!

Many guys will get married to you, then pretend to be entitled to half of your assets, incl. home, retirement accounts, 401k, and your bank accounts. A very plain woman I knew, showed up for a visit with her new husband, who was VERY good looking, and I knew immediately that something was up. Then her husband flirted w/ me, and I thought oh no. He’s using his new wife for something. A couple months later my woman friend found out that her new hubby wanted her to pay for his daughter’s private school, and more. Oops. That’s what can happen if you marry someone b4 knowing him.

So many people get scammed in one way or another, that means how little allerted we are. It was me too, fortunately didn't cost me money, just the shame of being so naive. One year later after it happened and I'm grateful for that experience, because I've learned the lesson, and lowered my trust in people, and increased my boundaries. Sometimes I still feel angry when I hear someone was hurt in that way, but I realize that I don't have any control over that except just protecting myself from such people. That's why I continue learning about those kinds of behavior, and stay away from such people whenever I recognize them.
