A good analogy for misgendering in my opinion is stepping on another person's foot. Like this is not a nice thing to do, but if you do it by accident - you just say sorry, and try to not do it again. That first video is my whole issue with Transphobia. It's amazing how these people have no issue trying to "show up" a trans person by talking about their genitals. Then in the same breathe want to say that trans people are trying to hurt children. One person was existing and the other is trying to figure out someone's junk. So WHO'S THE PERVERT?!?!. I had someone on Facebook say they didn't think gender affirming care for children was a good idea, because they are a cis woman and dressed "masculine" as a kid (standard), she then said that what people should do is just let kids figure themselves out, let them dress however they want, go by new names if they want and see if they still feel trans after a few years of that. @@littlemoon4386 (edit: your reply just talks about clothing, my original comment mentioned several more things, my reply here has assumed you meant all the things I mentioned) for young children, that's a large part of trans affirming care, alongside therapy. The only pills kids might get access to, and it's quite rare, is puberty blockers and weirdly those only get prescribed once kids are about to go through puberty not kids who are under 10, and surgery is practically non existent for any kids, certainly not until they're like 16 at the earliest and even then it's vanishingly rare. Unlike the anti trans propaganda would have you believe, no one is performing surgery or giving hormones to 6 year olds. And while we're at it, it's certainly not fast tracked, I've known people who've gone through the system, you're looking at about 5 years before you even see an NHS prescribed hormone.

I'm trans, and I'm completely immune to misgendering or deadnaming. I was able to archive that by realising my gender identity is intrinsic, doesnt require people validating it, no matter what they might think, it's not gonna change who I am. I see a lot of people who suffer from gender dysphoria mistake this with social intolerance and open themselves up to mental distress as a result. Proper therapy is what's needed here. Developing skills to draw one's own value from within not from the outside. Low self-esteem issues are very common amongst young trans people.

I recently had a trans girl over (she's very early in her transition and still looks very masculine) and I have a cat who doesn't like strangers at first but she took really well to this girl. I told her the cat warms up more quickly to women (which is true) and her face lit up. I'm so proud of my cat.

To offset the transphobia, here is a heartwarming story from Comic-Con this year: I went as Kiki from Kiki’s Delivery Service. There was a little (trans) girl who was also dressed like Kiki, and she seemed a little self-conscious about her costume. Her dad got so excited when he saw me and said “See! There’s another person dressed like Kiki!” I said hi and complimented her outfit and she seemed to relax a little, and anyway it just warmed my heart to see such a supportive father!

I have been on a date with a trans guy - it started me thinking more deeply about what signifies a man to me (as a cis gay man), and my attitudes, hence being here. I found myself wondering whether it would matter if we dated and it turned out he had not had lower surgery, and how relevant the various physical ‘typical’ aspects of ‘manhood’ are to my core attraction toward other men; and indeed what constitutes a man to my primitive brain. The answer I came to is ‘I’m not sure yet’, but if handled with a bit of thought, kindness and sensitivity, I reckon these things can be navigated in a way that respects all our differences, core needs and experiences.

As a trans guy, i think it's totally fine not being attracted to someone because their surgeries, or really any reason whatsoever. We can't choose who we're attracted to and why. For some people even something like a certain haircolour or voice can be a turnoff. It's completely logical that a person's genitals can be something important for attraction. It's fine if you don't wanna date someone because they're trans, it's only a problem if you start disrespecting them in normal day to day life, like misgendering them or treating them different from other friends. Attraction is important for dating and isn't something we can change, but it isn't important for platonic or professional relationships. And not being attracted to someone doesn't make that person any less of a man. He's just a man that isn't attractive to you. We aren't attracted to every person in our lives after all, regardless of gender. It's basically the same as being turned off because someone's junk size or height. Is it superficial? Maybe. But most physical attraction is. And thats fine. You might not date someone with a small dick or certain stature, but it doesn't stop you from being friends with them and respecting them. Summed up: it's fine not being attracted to someone for whatever reason you have. It's better to stay as friends than to be in a relationship without attraction.

I'm very happy to hear about your openness! I am a GNC woman who is dating a trans man. It's perfectly fine if you aren't sure if you'd be in a relationship with a trans man or not. I would only suggest communicating that with any trans guy you happen to date, explaining you're open to the possibility but are still learning about it and you just aren't certain yet if it honors your own identity or not. Some trans people are totally open and willing to answer any questions one might have about transitioning, especially if you establish you're an ally and want to learn more. Of course no one is obligated to do so, and on the flipside of that it is many trans people are tired of having to answer everyone's questions or being the one to educate people. my boyfriend came out to me after we had already been dating for a while, but I'm pan so it didn't really impact my attraction or feelings towards him. I would not only date a trans person, but as a cis female, I happen to find the trans men I know almost irresistible, and the trans women glorious and inspiring-regardless, I am horrified that any person is treated with less than respect for any reason other than acts of cruelty against another person. Asking about someone’s private areas in a public forum is much more abusive than informing kids about the existence of LGBTQ+. Creating a false dichotomy of “chaos” vs. sex-as-assigned is is abusive and pedantic. But, most of all, homing in on what you see as the shortcomings of others and using it as reinforcement of your privilege, or pretending to use it in the interest of children or cis women, particularly when it serves your own social cred, is just cheap and childish.

I am a biologic woman. I cannot get pregnant due to PCOS, Endometriosis and uterus fibroids. I identify as Non-Binary as my "gender" when asked. “Female/male DNA” is a misnomer anyway, as there is technically no such thing. A person may have XX or XY chromosomes as part of their genotype, but that doesn’t actually mean that a person is female or male, respectively. About 1 in 20000 cis women have XY chromosomes. Males with XX chromosomes also exist (though they are rarer than XY females). It’s called de la chappelle syndrome, or XX male syndrome. My son was assumed female at birth. He had what appeared to be female genitalia. From the time he could talk, he told us he was a boy. Oddly, his birth certificate has him as "male," which pushed me to have him further tested. It turns out he is intersex - he has xy chromosomes. Literally every single thing that is used to say "this is male/female" can be challenged... *All women are born with a uterus - nope. *All women have ovaries - nope *All women have xx chromosomes - nope *Only men have xy chromosomes - nuh uh *Only men grow facial hair - nup. And then when they say, "oh but those people are in the minority," - well, guess what? There's more of them than there are trans people, and no one is screaming that they can't receive necessary medication, and that they're going to cause the downfall of civilisation.... I live in a conservative society where being gay is viewed as repulsive. When I was growing up, everyone around me was homophobic, transphobic and even denied the need of feminism. Being bisexual, I felt horrible growing up because I had this inner conflict of those views imposed on me and my true feelings. I wanted to understand it, I wanted to learn more. I started speaking to other people about their experiences, I started watching videos (in English of course as it's basically illegal in Russia to speak about LGBTQ+). I became a feminist (though I always felt that women should be treated better, now I share my views with other people who still don't think that feminism is good and I hope to change their minds too). Maybe it's because I'm old, non-binary, had gender dysphoria for the longest time, am pansexual, or have a many loved ones that are trans...but the question 'Would you date/sleep with a trans person!?' always irks me the wrong way. I never got it. My answer; Yes, and I have in the past. It's like for the person asking, being 'trans' is being less of a human... I do understand that people have preferences that they cannot change, BUT there's a respectful way to share it...and there's transphobia. Nearly 2 decades ago I had a lesbian friend who was hit on by a trans woman. They clicked and it was going smoothly, but she straight-forwardly cut it off and said she could only be friends when she learned she was pre-op trans. At first I was really put off by it, but she explained to me that she simply 'couldn't do with penises'. She also told me 'I may sincerely fall in love with her, but I would never be able to love 100% of her, and she deserve to be loved wholly' and I understood. Of course it's okay to not be attracted to certain genders and biology...but don't be awful about it.

I remember as a child I "identified" as a horse and as a dog at times. I acted fully as an animal, went on all fours, and like barked at people, I was that weird child. But I've never been a problem, I wasn't treated differently either, sometimes my parents went along because it was fun. But I have never been confused about my identity, I know who I am, though still figuring out what label fits, i never once hurt anyone by saying I was some type of animal. Honestly, I agree. The funny thing is, when I was a child and played with my friends (we were all girls), either I or my friend would sometimes take a male character role. Lol it's laughable to me when someone equates being a woman with having periods and babies. A coworker got so mad at me last year because when she was outraged that I take meds to not have periods and she said periods make me a woman, I responded with something along the lines of "fine, according to you I'm not a woman, but I don't care to be one so move on" and that was so triggering for her because how do I dare not care about my womanhood 😂 for context, I'm cis, I just don't give a shit about my sex or gender and I always said that I'm fully happy being a woman but if I magically woke up one day as a guy, I'd be confused for about 5 minutes and then just get me some new clothes and move on. First of all one small correction: You are talking about a trans man. Someone who was assigned female gender at birth but identifies as male. Second, if you call them a gender that they don't identify as, that is misgendering. If it is an honest mistake (because for example they are pre-transition) then it's not great because gender disphoria is a thing, but it's also not a big deal. The moment one does that intentionally one becomes the asshole.

I agree so much and have been at a loss on how to deal with it ever since I was first exposed to this dynamic. It's SO common for people to fooled by it and I just do not get it. What causes people's brains to completely shut off to logic when they see that type of interaction? Maybe I struggle to understand because I don't get fooled by it? How do we even begin to break down that misconception? It is probably one of the strongest strategies in an abuser's toolbox, and it caused so much pain growing up, but I have not figured out how to wake people up from that form of manipulation.

That first one, has been all across the country every day of every week at every hearing. Trans men, women, non binary people, and drag artists come into places to speak against the hate bills and get bombarded with stuff like that. They have even proposed that primary school age kids get INSPECTED if they look androgynous, or if a little girl is “too good” at sports… sigh. I wanted out of america and move to the UK but then the UK went off the rails too. What a bizarre situation all around. And the Nick Merc thing… freedom of speech is not freedom of consequence. You can say whatever but there are consequences. Call of duty had an appearance package you could buy to make your playable character look like Nick, and he went on various streams and stuff and said kids can’t be lgbt, etc. same talking points about protect the kids… 🙄 someone said “let people love who they love and be who they are” and he replied that those people should stay away from children, etc. it started the stereotypical spiral

I have and would again. Our videos are still up on my channel but the reason I haven't posted in over a year is we broke up. There was a lot of trauma and mental health issues she had and once she got triggered the relationship turned toxic. However, I truly thought I had found my forever person until her behavior turned toxic due to her own unresolved past trauma. I absolutely would date a trans person again. We were gonna post her journey through her transition on the channel and I actually have unedited footage still on my computer that will never get loaded because we are not together anymore and it isn't my story to tell. I still miss what we had before things went sour.

I will also recommend the book Girl Sex 101 for anyone dating a Trans woman, particularly pre bottom surgery. It is very useful information about how to navigate the sexual aspect and still make her feel feminine. Of course if she has too much trauma or issues nothing you do will help with that, but with patience, knowledge, and experience you can help your mtf partner experience sex without triggering dysphoria. Just educate yourself and always practice consent before touching or attempting something new. Eventually you work out together what works for the both of you and you can have a healthy sex life together. But whatever you do, don't fetishize trans people. There's so much of that, making it hard for them when it comes to dating and trying to find true love.

Sorry your relationship ended, I understand. My fiance let me a few months ago and your issues sound all to familiar. Apparently I was inadvertently triggering her, she had been through some horrible realtionships and I think some part of her was always expecting me to be the same. So if I ever acted frustrated or angry about anything she would shut herself off from me. We tried couples counseling, had hours of talks with each other about our relationship but it just didn't work. For a while I was blaming myself, feeling like I was the reason why the relationship failed but I realize I can't fix her trauma. I did everything I could to show I was trustworthy, I called her when I got home from work, called her nearly every night ( we had not moved in together) so she always knew where I was, gave her a key to my home and never asked for a key to hers, I helped her set up security cameras around her home because she was having problems with vandalism, when she was working on her masters degree I helped her work through the stress of that, but none of it was enough and that's not my fault. I miss her though, we had some great times together. Best of luck to you friend.

I'm a cis guy who recently came out as pansexual so I'm cool with dating any gender identity but when I still identified as straight I matched with a trans woman on a dating app and had a whole internal conversation on whether it was somewhat gay if I dated someone who had a penis. I realized most of my concerns came from worrying about how other people would percive me because I was definitely attracted to the trans woman but it still brought up a lot of internalized homophobia. We didn't end up dating but fast forward a couple years and shortly after coming out I started dating a trans man and I had sorta the opposite internal conversation of "Is this fully gay since he hasn't had bottom surgery?" Then i had some doubt of my own sexuality and after being with a cis man and a trans woman I realized for me it still feels more gay to be with a trans man than a trans woman regardless of the genitalia situation. I definitely still have a lot to learn about sexuality and gender identity but it's been very eye opening experience to explore my sexuality. I still have a lot of prejudice to unpack and ideas to unlearn but I'm very happy that being trans is becoming more socially acceptable, we still have a long way to go as a culture but we have made a lot of progress and I truly believe I'll live to see the day where sexuality and gender identity aren't hot button issues and people can live their lives without fear of persecution.

I’m a 14 year old trans boy. I’ve been struggling most of my life with my hair, my leg hair. The way I dress. I literally get called an it at school. It is a horrible life to be a trans-boy. But you are born the way you feel about your body. Your gender is not based on your genitalia. Most people can’t get that. If I had the choice I wouldn’t be trans if it was such a hard life for me. But I feel how I feel. I’m just glad that I’ve settled with my identity at this age. I’ve heard people in their 60s still struggling with their identity.

Im a mid transition trans guy whose demisexual and a top. Dating for us is actually pretty difficult at times because people get these preconceived notifications about us. I actually got rejected by a gay couple who wanted a unicorn, i told them i was a top. Their response "but your trans right?" Implying that i shouldnt be a top because i have a V or that i should like V sex too. Other times people will try to date me when they have straight and women on their preferences. Its pretty disheartening at time when the reason why people want to date you is because of what you have or the absence of it😔. I just want someone to cuddle.....

I was chatting to a friend the other day and ran into an interesting problem. She (cis woman) thought that as a teen she experienced gender dysphoria, but grew out of it. (She brought this up because I came out as NB and she basically was like 'don't worry, it will pass') I asked her more about what her experience of gender dysphoria was. She apparently was bullied and told she looked like a guy. She'd get asked at school if she was a t-slur. She was always being told she wasn't enough of a woman. She never felt like she could do enough to be considered a woman. Obviously a really horrific experience of bullying, and she was later diagnosed with PCOS, which was one of the causes of her high testosterone levels. Needless to say, amid the sympathy for her, I was the tiniest bit amused. So I had to explain that gender dysphoria as an AFAB was often the opposite to that. It was the pressure of society trying to make you a woman, and you knowing that wasn't right. Whenever I had people mistake me for a guy, I actually liked it, because although that wasn't my gender, at least they didn't assume I was a woman. Unfortunately she's kinda like talking to a brick wall. Unless you're a figure of authority in her life, she doesn't really take in what you say. But I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

I'm a cis woman that was incredibly shocked to read all of this, cause it reflects so much of my life growing up. What I just don't get is..... how did that awful experience of her make her _against_ trans people? At least in my case, it helped me understand a bit more. Nobody should suffer from being mistreated because other people negate your gender and misgender/make fun of you for it. If it was terrible for me in school, for the lifetime of a trans person it might be exponentially worse!! Society is already shitty with sexism, so why be a transphobe on top of that? She's very much pro self-love and body positivity, and I think she thinks that gender dysphor will just go away if you start working on loving yourself? It's pretty depressing really. We're both Christians but have very different views: she's someone who thinks God will 'cure' you of being trans, while I think God loves trans people as they are, and that it breaks His heart to see them hurting themselves by trying to force themselves to stay as their AGAB. Praying for her and continuing to chat to her still about it all. Hopefully one day she'll have that breakthrough and realise how much she's minunderstanding. Yep. I had someone accuse me of "describing sex to children" because their kid pointed at someone near me and asked "What's her name?". Said person was actually a cis man, so I replied "Actually he's a boy and his name is Michael" (random name). The parent immediately started screeching about how I was teaching kids to have sex and telling them all about [insert graphic depiction of anal sex here], and then was SHOCKED when security kicked them out.

I'm non-binary. I was afab, and it took me 34 years to realize that I'm non-binary, because it wasn't something that I ever heard about. I knew as 4 year old that I didn't wanted to be a girl, and I never felt like I belonged, but I also never felt like a man, and the realization that there are other options came very late for me. Yet at the same time, I never struggled with misogyny and was often misgendered as a man online (which I personally only found funny, since it usually came from women being mad I didn't shared their opinion XD). So despite being afab, and living "as woman" for 34 years, I never really had the "female experiences" so many cis-woman speak about that trans woman apparently can't relate to. Outside of horrible periods (which I'm THANKFUL trans-women don't have to deal with, because I don't wish that agony for anyone), I don't have the "female issues". So if I didn't had them, maybe because I was always enby, even if I didn't knew it, why should trans-women, who ARE women, be excluded from female problems or experiences, simply because they were amab? There is so much transphobia now that even other LGB+ people are hating me and calling me all these abhorrent names. I know countless young people who are trans and I'm young myself. You just need the right partner. When I first dated a Trans woman she had only just started HRT and had not had any surgeries yet. There are some really good books that help you and your partner navigate being sexual with each other and treating the female penis more like a clip. Maybe that's TMI but it's things people need to know. Girl Sex 101 is one of them. Rhe important thing for you is to be mentally healthy. And you owe it to your potential partners as well. So do therapy and work through trauma or issues you might have so you don't ruin a perfect relationship like my ex did because of not having dealt with her extensive trauma.

Come on, you know that is not what it means. Use some common sense. Humans are born with 2 arms and two legs and so on, however, a child born with one arm or one leg is STILL HUMAN. So even though you cant have children, you are still an adult human female. Women who are a certain age, going through menopause, cannot have children either, still women. Transwomen, however, NEVER had the capasity for producing eggs, something only the female of the species can do. The male of the species produce sperm. That is pure biological fact. Intresex people also produce only eggs or sperm.
