Bare knuckles don't have more impact force than gloves.... the gloves and wraps are there to ward off injury to the fighter's hands. I would argue the wraps fighters wear increase the damage. Gloves do help in preventing bad cuts to faces, but as far as greater chance of dying goes, they're the same.

Bare knuckle does not cause more deaths. It does cause more cuts and injuries like broken jaws though, because with a glove it spreads the force out and your entire head takes more of the shock then 1 particular spot. Deaths have gone way up since gloves were used because people are able to take more punishment over the course of a fight and end up taking more concussive or semi-concussive hits. It's also hard to throw full force without gloves, punching somebody in the head without gloves does not feel good and it's really easy to break knuckles.

If I was allowed to take a dive as soon as the first punch grazed my face, I’d attempt it. I think I might be able to partially slip one punch and then lay down. But if that wasn’t allowed, and we had to really fight and try to stay upright and punch back, I wouldn’t do it. A normal person like me, who hasn’t been trained as a fighter and is considerably less weight than Tyson, death is possible and concussions and potential long term head issues are likely. No money is worth that. People forget that health is the ONLY thing that matters, we take that for granted until we lose our health.
