hearing that Sean wants to be a teacher made me so happy. working in childcare, whether it be daycare or teachers, can be so hard. i’m a daycare teacher and it’s so easy to get overwhelmed and stressed. i wish Sean nothing but the best in his teaching endeavor and always remember the good moments. you might be changing those kids lives but they also change yours. i really resonated with this podcast. i had an immense amount of pressure and weight on my shoulders nearing the end of my senior year of HS & despite being a straight A student all my life, i almost didn’t graduate. i had so much going on and i knew i was not ready to go to a university but my parents pushed so hard. “you’re too smart for community college” “you have to go to a 4 year” and i went and blew my first year & ended up on academic suspension. i wish things could’ve gone differently for me. it took a long time to realize that school is not for everyone and that’s okay. the belief that there’s only one way to be successful (aka going to school) was engraved in my mind because of my family and i had to remind and reassure myself that that isn’t true. thank you guys for always being so open and vulnerable with us!!! i felt seen and heard.

54:42 Sage saying how he sees himself as someone not doing school things, sitting at a desk type stuff...is also how I feel like I thought I was the only one who felt this way especially considering that majority of my friends were already set on what they wanted to do, like going to University n such but I just knew that sitting down taking notes and taking classes is something I know for a FACT I don't want to do. So it's really encouraging and makes me feel hopeful knowing that someone who is older than me by a couple yrs is also where I'm at feels reassuring for sure. Along with what Sean said about in high school putting so much of your time doing sports and something you did for fun maybe turns to be the one thing you were good at but then to leave and not end up doing it is so relatable to me. As someone who did Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, Rugby/Touch for their whole high school years and to graduate and end up not doing it as a scholarship and whatnot is something I felt like was such a waste of my time and effort so. Hearing Sage and Sean say that they also felt this way gave me hope and reassurance so I'm glad that I'm not the only one and I'm sure there are many more of us who feel this way too. So it's okay guys, we keep moving and slowly but surely evrything will work out😊❤ Great podcast guys, love seeing you guys talk about anything and everything...fills my extra time I have😁

i find this podcast so comforting, i’m gonna be going into my senior year in september and anytime someone asks me what i wanna do with my life or what college i wanna go to, i feel like a failure because i have absolutely no idea, i’m a student athlete so anytime i’m not at practice i just chill out, and even then, i still don’t know what i want to do with my life, not to mention the fact that i constantly fear that my grades aren’t going to be good enough to get me into any college, i mean i thought i had it all figured out going into middle school, but then someone kinda shot it down by telling me that photography wasn’t gonna get me very far because people don’t always need photographers, so ever since then i’ve been so overwhelmed when thinking abt my future, i have this internal fear that i’m just gonna be a disappointment to my family and i’m not gonna get anywhere in life, but when i sit down and listen to u guys’ shared experiences, it gives me a little more hope for my own future

Another thing and probably the most important thing to do in college is to NETWORK! NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK! With professors, with people who are not your professor in your department, go to career fairs to get contacts (even if you’re not looking for a job), make connections (connections but does not have to be besties) with people in your class because when it comes to job hunting closer to graduation or even after these people will help you get a great job! They can be references! They can be contacts to help you land a interview with one of their past or current employers. Or people in your classes will land jobs at some great places and they can help you in the future to get the foot in the door.

the timing of this episode is kind of crazy for me. I just had my last official day at school before my exams and then ill be off to uni come september. I dont think it's really sunk in yet but all the memories are something I really want to hold onto. and Sean put it in a way that was really relatable for me at the moment. I recommend taking classes you normally wouldn't / sound interesting to you for electives, that's how I discovered my major and I'm really passionate about it. Don't worry if you don't finish in the normal 4 years because of this either! I had to take an extra semester because I switched majors and it was fine, most people graduate later.
