I’m with Jeannie, same! I kind of had the same happen, but I couldn’t deal with the emotional part of it, not being able to find out what was going on, or communicate with him like I wanted to. It drove me nuts. I’m 21, he was in his teen years to give an idea of what the age for this was, he did something stupid with his friends and spend a week in jail, but just the taste of that was horrible.

If you ended up in jail for something you actually did knowingly, your character is already in question and that alone would deter me. It usually also means you as their partner were being lied to for years. You have two reasons right there to reconsider marrying him. Being married with a fam is another thing

I was dating before I was accused of a crime I did not commit. Awaiting trial was the most hellish year of my life, legal expenses were eating all I'd saved since college, and I lost my job when they found out what was going on. My then girlfriend proposed to me and wanted us to get married before we even knew what my fate would be. By the Grace of God ultimately the charges were dropped, but the fact that she would have married me and risked having an incarcerated wife was more than I would've ever expected someone to do. I have a different opinion of inmates now that I know how easily you can become one. We're all one sour relationship away from being falsely accused of something - and maybe not having the resources to fight it in court for months.
