Hi Scott. If you are thinking of getting the Mafell - in particular because of the scoring cut - have a watch of Peter Millard's video (400 Festool v Mafell track saws) where he shows that the full depth cut is slightly offset from the scoring cut leading to a gap when joining two pieces at right angles.

I can’t currently can’t afford the mafell p1cc (I have a big mortgage and 3 kids and a wife to provide for) but as a carpenter that owns a few items from mafell (mt 55 and kss 60) has had the privilege of using the p1cc please let me offer this advice..... if you can afford to buy mafell tools do so you will not regret it. The p1cc is not a jigsaw it’s the reinvention of the jigsaw it does things that other jigsaws simply can not do. I can’t speak for every tool they make as I have not used them all but the mafell tools that I have used feel like something other than a tool, they feel like machinery that is used in big factory’s to manufacture the timber and products we use daily that costs thousands and thousands not like the tools we use daily. Simply put the tools mafell produce are expensive because when you use them they feel like you can’t afford them because every detail has been considered and they do the job they were intended for that much better than any other tool.

Carl Postins. Well written Carl. We cannot get mafel here in Australia. Although can import from USA. Metabo will bring out a mafel style plunge saw which I will be interested in seeing. I consider buying the mafel cordless plunge saw. The jigsaw perhaps could have a cordless version. Also if it had all the accessories it will be worth it. If you could achieve a perfection then workership will be at a premium level. The difference in price between say mafel and festool. Both rather pricey. You would put your mind to it and buy the machine on laybuy.
@Stevieboy7

I'm just so confused on why someone would buy this jigsaw vs a similar tracksaw. If you're always doing curved cuts (reason for jigsaw) then you dont need all the accessories. If youre doing straightlines, this jigsaw cannot cut anywhere as nice as a circular blade.

The machine is fantastic, simple and accurate to use, with the 12mm dowells you can use for light construction, and with 5mm drill shelf pins in cabinets if you need to(although I normally use a router on a drilled rail). With all the extra parts you need for the Domino to do the same was almost $500 more!

To the people saying the jigsaw isn't worth it: if you do any amount of custom circular cuts in thick sheet materials, it'll make back the cost of the saw in a few days of work. Mine paid for itself in 2-3 days. The special blades seem expensive but then you get one and put it through ~600m of 20mm plywood cutting circles and it just keeps going, all the cuts are at 90 degrees with little to no blade deflection.

It surprises me to see that saw not more often in any videos. As a German carpenter you are used to Mafell Tools and prices. But especially the KSS40 is worth every cent. I have the 18v battery version of the track saw. It was a larger cost but a great investment. The dust collection is excellent even with just the supplied dust bag. I’m still getting used to using it. Although I have previously used DeWalt and festool track saws, however I prefer the Mafell. If I was buying again and only if the Mafell wasn’t in my budget, I’d go for the corded Makita track saw based on reviews and colleagues opinions. I use the Festool Midi Vac so a corded track saw is also suitable for me. The key to all of these saws (or any saw) in my opinion is to use top quality new sharp saw blades.

I have a Bosch blue jigsaw which I love. But with the loving comes also the excepting of it's flaws. Which is bending, mostly when cutting circles. And that's why I use my router for circles. The Bosch blue I found very ergonomic and light enough to work overhead when doing carpentry in the work for instance on attics and such. My next will be a Festool or Mafell. But not pro anymore so it would be for the extra fun factor in working with machines now and then.

Mercedes Benz sprinter van, high top. Tools on the inside, a roll out awning, to cover the fold out work table, on the outside. I’d like to see hard wood flooring, in a herringbone pattern. The cabinetry made from different wood species, using different joinery techniques, that represent different tool manufacturers. Just an idea. Keep up the great work! Cheers!

Hi i have been a big fesstool user for the past 15 years but i have owned the maffell jigsaw for about 7 years and i have to say this is the best jigsaw on the market i cut regular 40ml worktops with a true 90 degre cut with the lamenate face down and i have complete trust in the blade to never wander even around the most tightest corners possible i would not swap this jigsaw for any jigsaw i actually own a fesstool jigsaw battery which i use for all my rough cuts

I bought the Mafell track saw inc rails for £589 here in the UK. I use it mostly for cutting 8' x 4' Calcium silicate boards when designing fire surrounds for inset wood burning stoves. I can't recommend it highly enough. You would not be disappointed although it seems expensive over there.. Shall I send one from the UK? ha ha

I got the mafell tracksaw love it. People always complain about cost.. But they buy a new car for 30k and it drops down 2/3k in the first year. I call that waste of money cars ain’t making your money only costing a lot. I never crappy tools... Makita for the all round work ( good quality money wise ) dewalt for their saws, festool for the system and accuracy and mafell for the big work.

The Mafell (& Bosch) tracks are brilliant - they join pretty much seamlessly, so you don't need to lug a 3m track around with you as well as a 1.5. I believe Mafell manufacture the Bosch GTK55, which is quite a bit cheaper, but remarkably similar (missing some of the finer features).

#TLock containers are manufactured by Tanos, a subsidiary of TTS Tooltechnic Systems. Other subsidiaries are Sawstop, Festool, Protool, Cleantec and more. Am not clear about Shaper. Many other companies use the containers, for examples Mafell, Spax and Deros. Even some of the older Makita power tools were shipped in T-Lock compatible containers

I've got the Bosch track saw, it's actually largely modeled on the Mafell, the tracks are the same , I've got the 18v Bosch circular saw too, that fits on to the Bosch and festool tracks. Especially handy if you want to cut up some sheets at the timber yard to get them in the van, which I have done a few times. Can't really see the point in a jigsaw on a track, if you want a straight cut, then use the track saw. The prices for the Mafell stuff are ridiculous, and you don't even get the tracks with the track saw

For me thats one of the premium DIY semi professional lines of tools, and that is a line i wil never cross in a DIY context. Here in Germany many carpenters, wood workers and contractors are using them.

But as times gone on and I've exhausted all the main tool brands these are now my considered options. A different way to build , new technique. The price is a shock because of what were used too, just suck it up, respect the quality engineering, move up a gear. The kss 50 first for me, I'll move onto all the battery gear. Thanks Scott I think you also have an eye for detail.
