Hi, Sand wit. Yes, BUD/S trainees overtrain. It's a 6-month overtrain. There is no recovery process that will help them proceed other than appropriate physical and mental preparation. That's part of the process. BUD/S students aren't being trained to maximize their health and wellness during training. In fact, they are being tested to see how they react to poor health. To hear more, visit the "survivingbuds" website at the end of this video for free videos. That's a good first step.

There is a lot of luck involved as well. You could get injured in training, you can have a bureaucratic hang up, you can incur the wrath or dislike of an instructor, you can fail academics, you can have family issues that interrupt training, you can have one moment of weakness, etc. Also, enlisted get to quit with the opportunity to return whereas officers get only one shot, but that rule may have changed, & the Navy is notorious for issuing wavers. Ultimately, you have to fight for everything if you really want it. Remember, if the mind is willing, the body will follow.
@michaelo1929

"Family issues" shouldn't be a problem. If the Navy wanted you to have a family, they would have issued you one.

+Gran Torino What do you mean? He already had a college degree. OCS, 2 months, BUD/S, 6 months, SEAL officer training, 2 months, SQT (STT back then), 6 months = 14 months total. He also needed time to recover, so lets say 4 months. Keep in mind, the length of training is always changing to meet current needs.

Real SEAL’s are they who don’t show themselves on public, they who don’t write books and telling stories about the mission’s like Rob O’neill (he tells about the Neptune Spear mission and how did he kill Osama Bin Laden, btw this mission was highly classified mission) . SEAL’s they don’t need to show themselves in public because they’re supposed to be quite and professionals. I have so much respect for all teams of SEAL’s especially for DevGru. In my opinion they should learn a little from Delta Force guys how they are real quite professionals. I think ST6 they’re are the elite of the elite but after retirement they don’t need to show the public about they’re mission’s. I don’t know why they tell about BUD’s training.? Respect ✊ and Salute 🙌 for these guys !

But it created a better me, I served active duty, reserves, active reserves, when I joined, sailors were retiring E 5, my quest, was to wear a gold, trident have four gold hashmarks and retire an E5. I wasn't asking for much. If I come across any young person interested, I'm buying all your video, I spent so much time in the gulf, I was diagnosed with a neurological dissorder, in plain terms, multiple sclerosis. As I tell folks be carefull what you wish for. Retired from navy active reserves, retired correctional officer, there's more than one way to skin a cat, and I still live in sunny sandiego ca. This guy had "IT" from day 1. You don't go to Yale without the mental fortitude and upbringing of someone from the top 1%. This guy had it all. I find it hard to take advice from someone like that. Before buds, he was doing what 99% of people can't.
