Wow! Awesome Glitter Stencil Tutorial! {Use what YOU have DIY!} Today I am using inexpensive glitter and a stencil to make a one of a kind bookmark! You can find the supplies I used at our sponsor Papermart: www.papermart.c...
Supplies:
Shipping tags www.papermart.c...
Glitter www.papermart.c...
Double sided tape or adhesive sheet
Stencil (mine was from Stencil Girl)
Washi Tape www.papermart.c...
Organza Ribbon www.papermart.c...
Tulle www.papermart.c...
Directions:
1. Cover tag with double-sided tape.
2. Coat stencil with embossing ink or glycerin.
3. Remove liner from tape and place stencil ink side down on the adhesive.
4. Carefull add glitter filling in the stencil holes with the colors you want.
5. Press glitter in to the stencil and shake off the eccess then wip off the excess with a baby wipe.
6. Remove the stencil and cover the rest of the adhesive with clear glitter. Tap off excess and burnish glitter in.
7. Hear with a heat tool (optional) to be sure the glitter is secure.
8. Finish by adding a washi tape border and ribbon/tulle.

This is one of my favorite of your craft videos, Lindsay. I have wanted to do it and was excited when I saw some feather dies for sale online, bought them, received them today, and applied doublesided tape to some paper and die cut the feathers. Then I watched your video again since it had not watched it since September of last year. Ha, ha, ha! You used a stencil, not dies! And you had a tag, not a die cut. So glad I watched it again to see what materials I'll need to copy this project. But, I am excited to glitter the feathers I die cut today and see what treasures I create! Thank you for such inspirational crafting ideas, Lindsay!

I love that stencil. The tags turned out beautiful. Lindsay and swiffer duster cloth works wonders for getting up glitter and I cut min in half or thirds and use them all the time.

I was watching another utube video, I think it was one of Jennifer McQuire's videos, and she was using glitter, but she had a great idea for cleaning it up. Swiffer wipes work really well to clean it up. Because they have the static cling to them the glitter stocks to them really well, and to save a bit of money you could even cut them into smaller pieces.

I love this tag and I love glitter and embossing glitter but the mess and getting it everywhere is not fun. lol I never thought of using the embossing ink to hold a stencils down. I will have to try this out with some of the stencils I have. I have a fall leave stencil and it would be perfect to use up some of my Martha Stewart glitter that I have hard forever and not sure what to do with. time to get glittering. lol thanks!!

Loved this project video...there can never be enough glitter. I have a request...would you consider doing a tutorial on how to paint glass (bottles, jars). Every time I search you tube I get how to paint ON glass, not how to paint realistic looking glass. In acrylic.

Can this method be used with metal stencils? When using glitter, I use the little baby spoons from Costco samples they give out. I have about 10 so I don't have to clean off between each color until I'm done. Then use Swiffer wipe to wipe off the spoon. Shake project over swiffer wipe or into plastic container to use on other project. Clean your desk mess with swiffer.

umm. . .Lindsay, of COURSE Papermart has double sided adhesive. It's all I use anymore. I buy the 1/2 inch and the 1 inch rolls. It is fantastic! Who needs score tape anymore?? Thanks for introducing me to this place!

If I don't have a plain pad to put glycerin on, can I rub some on the stencil with the cosmetic makeup wedges from the dollar store? Was the green you used Apple Green? I bought the iridescent glitter. Is this the same as the clear glitter you used? I got washi tape at Walmart and had to throw every roll out. It did not stick and just came off where I put it and made a mess. Where could I get good washi tape, please? The tags come in 3 sizes; what size should I get? What was the width of your tulle and organza ribbons? And FINALLY (honest) what do you call your hole punching tool and where could I get one? I know these a lot of questions, but I am a complete no nothing beginner at everything. Is 66 too old to learn?

Just thought that I would also let you know that scrapbookingmadesimple.com now carries their own brand of the same tape that is much cheaper and more on the roll in all the same sizes. It is made so that it can also be heat embossed as well. I bought some and it is great. Their shipping has gotten MUCH better, only took about a week to get my orders from them unless it is one of their major sales that they do occasionally.

I got glitter in my eye and it swelled and hurt for days. Might want to wear goggles. Also, fixative spray does not hold down glitter, fyi. But I love this method, I might try it with goggles on. lol
