There are a lot of better alternatives out there then what are recommended here. Since there is that neck from Sethekk Halls quest its not out of question to get Steamvaults quest head and there is the belt from Cipher chain so it would be feasible to get Blades Edge Mountain legs, cant remember the chain name but it ends with Showdown and gives insane legs. Pvp gear also is insanely good for feral tanks. Only tank class that actually benefits from resilience and makes those Spirit shard rings and heads viable for them outside of pvp situations. I know, I know, Im going to get lot of shit from people saying pvp gear is good for feral tanks because it is. You can achieve def cap with ferals by combining resilience and defense really easy. Resilience even gives more point value then defense rating, it works on pallies and warriors too but their pvp gear lacks block, parry and other good things so they rarely use it.

Please remember you can use resilience instead of def for feral bears, so the blue PVP gear from quartermasters (that needs honored only, easily to achieve fro quests) is usefull and beats quest.

The Engineering trinkets are amazing for Bears pre-raid. They are worth mentioning. Something like 90 stam is nuts since they are not unique.

I seem to remember agi being a bigger deal. It's surprising the avoidance it offers is not mentioned here. Green stam + agi I thought was the gem of choice. I was resto BC but in WotLK, had close to 50% dodge stacking agi as bear. Stacking all that agi like your life depends on it (because it does) will help you show up on damage meters too if you're into that.

Tier 4 is all health and stam, by T6 you move towards Agi and push 80% dodge.

You should use the crafted Stylin' Purple Hat instead of that garbage hood. :) Your also way overcapped in defense, you only need 415 to be def capped with survival of the fittest.

I remember playing feral druid in TBC and the best staff you actually can get is from a netherstorn quest. It's the Fleshling Simulation Staff: hit rating, expertise and more form attack power. Expertise is rare at those levels and it's a really important stat for threat as a feral druid.

I rarely see that staff in various preRaid BIS lists - i really don't know why?. When I leveled my alt feral i dug into quest rewards a lot (lost of research) and was surprised of that jewel: It has 26 hitrating, 17 expertise and 457 feral attack power! Even the 15 less stamina, and like 3 points less in agi + strength should'nt keep you from getting this one ----> its from the "nexus-king salhadaar" quest line

yes and no. it really depends on the encounter. Palis rule most of kara, as in you cant pull off of them unless they let you. Warriors are fantastic til t6. Bears are generally ots til t6, then bears and palis become mts due to wonderful scaling. Bears get the highest effective health pools, and are the quickest to armor soft cap, and the only tanks to get to hard cap on their own, but we don't have a shield and swipe only deals a fixed amount of threat, and does not scale. we do get quite a bit of tps though, even if we are not taking damage. tldr- if it hits fast, or their are a lot of them, or they shit magic, give it to a warrior.

@@jameswinslow6937 Swipe threat scales with attack power, and also the tier 6 set bonuses buff it significantly, until then you just spam lacerate instead of swipe on single target.

There's a trinket that's definitely better than the two you've mentioned. It's called Badge of Tenacity and it provides a ton of extra armour for feral druids. It's definitely something a feral tank wants to pick.

@@ksherman51 yeeah i know what you mean but SRS that are the one you can really farm for because in calsssic (still to the End) Druid suffers from the jack of all Traits its really sad but thats how it is i mean most of the Raids / HC doungen Relics gives you just just like these you get from questing or the once for Bandages. So yeah mb you get some but mostly watchout fpr leather gear +amor in classic (good luck with that) and that waht really get. Sorry that i cant inform you with better joices

When a druid is in bearform they multiply the armor from all gear they have. I think it is x4 the armorvalue. When he say "green armor" he means that the armor value is green not green gear. If the armor value is in green it means its much higher than normal, so u can have green armor value on green, blue or purple gear. Look at 10:59 and u see blue gear with green armor value meaning its much higher than normal blue leather gear.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has them. that being said this list is kinda whack. the heavy clefthoof set has enough defense all on its own. since bears cannot block or parry, being above d cap is really super unideal. also, we are assuming that in the thought experiment, this character just dinged 70? i also assume they did not level any profs whatsoever? (if they did, the engi helm is amazeballs) but the bis trink for the whole xpac comes from ubrs, which is soloable from lev 66+ on as a feral. Are we assuming this fresh 70 did absolutely zero regular outlands dungeons? ramps ring is bamf , among several other pieces. there is also a tailoring boe cloak "resolute cape" (also a good thing to remember for feral tanks is that resiliance actually turns into defense rating in tbc. it scales better to make you crit immune. It will not push crushing off the table, but you never will be uncrushable in tbc as a druid) i did like the inclusion of the fact that the smv questline may not be available at the start, very astute. (lets all hope if tbc classic goes live, we can start with swift flight form, i believe that came out between t5 and t6 is memory serves.) With the shit sandwich out of the way, i do appreciate what you are doing here. You have probably helped a lot of players in classic decide to rekindle their "good old days" and even play specs and classes that may not have been meta back in the day. That being said, there are quite a bit of very good resources out there for tbc and it would be useful for any up and coming feral druids to know the right way of doing things, as to not push the class and spec back in the eyes of the community at large. It will be nice to ideally see tbc classic launch and have feral tanks not be a meme from the non private server playing populace. endnote - if the tbc classic server is not ramped up in difficulty (ie-netherwing server) then defensive stats will not be as important as most think. they are still fantastic, but you as a tank will need to keep some hit and expertise pieces on you. any casters will be wearing shadowweave / spellstrike which is t6 equivilent. you will need to hold that threat. (earthwarden and the lower city faction ring helps quite a bit for ex cap.) ex and hit cap also helps against parry resets, which also helps surviveabilty.

lol in BWL I had 11,100 hp and 18,200 armor world buffed with priest crit and armor pot. So my 60 bear is as good as a quested 70 bear.
