Chet Atkins recorded the album (Neck & Neck) in 1990 with Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) that shows the great talent of both men. Chet Atkins was known as "Mr. Guitar" & "The Country Gentleman". He was an American musician, occasional vocalist, songwriter & record producer. His legendary career spanned six decades from the 40s-90s. He was known as as one of the best guitarists with his electric speed, melodic playing & unique finger-picking guitar style. Chet Atkins also played the mandolin, fiddle, banjo & ukulele. He won numerous awards & influenced a lot of artists & musicians.

Chet's family was too poor to afford a guitar, so he fashioned his first guitar from a ukulele strung from screen door wire. His innovative fingerstyle guitar playing covered all elements of country, pop and jazz elements. Amazing !!! From the 1990 collaborative album, " Neck to Neck", Mark and Chet display a variety of guitar techniques. Playing with a jazzy sensibility and complete lack of egos, the album is a masterpiece of their shared guitar supremecy. Beautiful song. Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤ Beautiful choice Agnete ❤👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦

Agnete, this was an absolutely fabulous submission. Chet was a pioneer and talented singer, songwriter, and producer. It was a real treat to see Mark Knopfler, Michael McDonald, and so many others play with Chet. As good as it gets.👏Harri, 👏 for you too.

Chet was so much more than a country guitarist. He appreciated talent and good music in any genre. I have an old cd he produced that includes performances with Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh, Mark Knopfler George Benson. It's called Stay Tuned and it remains one of my favorites nearly 30 years after its release. I snagged a used copy on eBay to replace the one I loaned and never got back. Seriously, you won't regret getting it. There's only one track on the album I could take it or leave it.
