WOW! First Day Metal Detecting For Artillery And I Found FOUR!

Join me as I explore a creek in search of American Civil War relics and especially artillery rounds or cannonballs from a battle site that I had researched and wanted to search with a metal detector. I found four on this first day looking for them this year. Included in my finds are two 3 inch Hotchkiss shells, one 2.9 inch and one 3.67 inch Parrott artillery shells. None of them had fuses and are perfectly safe to find and handle.

Its a brake rotor - a modern one

Relitively modern anyway.

the whole wheelhub with brakerotor since the wheelstuds are still on there, could probably be from the 90sich since its a vented rotor

The round object with holes around the outside is a brake rotor from an automobile, alot of people use them for anchors since they're so heavy and easy to find!

Hey Beau! I love your videos, I'm confident I have seen 90% of them. I appreciate you sharing your adventures with us! Now, I do have an idea to throw by you, have you considered a camera on the bow of your kayak for when you tow it and dive? I think it would be a cool perspective to view your recovery of these relics, especially in situations where it may be a bit more difficult for you to film such as this one. Thanks mate.

I read that Parrott shells and Hotchkiss shells were very dangerous to advancing infantry if friendly artillery was firing over your head... they shed pieces. The Schenkl shell was preferred for for firing over the heads of friendly infantry because the sabot was made of paper mache.

Around 1820, free-reed designs began being created in Europe. Christian Friedrich Ludwig Buschmann is often cited as the inventor of the harmonica in 1821, but other inventors developed similar instruments at the same time.

That's some kinda rotor might be a truck rotor or maybe a car not sure, it's pretty big though that's all I know. But on another note I love your videos. I've been watching you for a while now I'm not even sure how long. I just wanted to thank you for all you do and for sharing it with us I love stuff like this from the bottom of my heart. I know your probably not gonna see this but if you do "keep doing what your doing and always look ahead... you never know what your gonna find." Also if you are reading this sorry it's so long. But for now HOLD YOUR BREATH!!! lol I love that saying I really do.

Chig, you should fabricate and weld a go-pro holder to one of those old boat anchors you keep finding. Then you could set it in the sand pointed at the hole you are fanning and have both hands free!

at 10:41, its a rotor for a disc brake. its what the brake shoes squez on to slow or stop the vehicle. you can see the bolt studs where the lug nuts would be tightning to hold the wheel on.

@07zx14White
@07zx14White 7 жыл бұрын
K0ester Yes sir we used them as anchors because they are made of heavy cast iron and they already had a hole molded on one side for the rope. Well, and they were free and that helps when you lose them often in certain places. I generally use actual purpose built anchors nowadays but they actually worked fairly well. I may need to test them next to actual anchors and see how they hold up comparatively. If so I'll just use them again. It doesn't hurt the wallet when you tangle one up in deep water and have to cut the rope to move.

What a great day,you make it so interesting by pointing out other nature things along the way. I am disabled so you make me feel like I'm right there with you. My hubby bought me an old bounty hunter I couldn't wait to try out,but can't dig and get up and down myself. He says doesn't interest him so will have to find someone else. Also my O2 tank raises cane with detector. So I'll watch you and nuggetnoggen ,! You are the best thing for me in the last 3 yrs . Loved the Alaska series,my parents lived in Fairbanks during Korean War ,dad was stationed there mom loved it. That was before it was a state ! In MN we don't have relics like you have tho😕.
