Jim Morrison and The Doors are amazing. Pick the genre, they can do it. Rock, Blues, Soft Rock, and anything else. The greatest American 60s Classic Rock Band, and one of the Best in the world.

The organ Ray Manzarek used was a Vox Continental on the Doors first 3 albums. This song was of course on their first. Ray switched to a Gibson on the 4th album and thereafter, only very occasionally using the Vox. He wanted to explore other sounds that the Vox could not do, and the Vox was not as durable. Of course the Vox Continental was THE organ of the 60’s - used by the Animals, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Dave Clark 5, early Beatles and and Stones, Strawberry Alarm Clock, ? and the Mysterians, Iron Butterfly, Kinks, Monkees, and others. It fell out of use when guitar heavy bands became dominant. Elvis Costello picked it up in the 70’s for his many retro sounding songs, and also saw some popularity with some psychedelic revival groups, though todays keyboards can closely mimic the sound. After the organ was discontinued for nearly 50 years, Vox has reintroduced the Continental, which has many new sounds and effects the original lacked. However the classic black/white reverse key colors were not revived, and unfortunately can only be found on the old units. By the way, you mentioned the Howlin Wolf original version. The original was written by fellow bluesman Willie Dixon who played in Wolf’s band.

The Doors were among the most controversial & influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly due to Jim Morrison's lyrics & voice. They had a lot of hits including "The End", "Light My Fire", "Break On Through (To The Other Side)", "Love Me Two Times", "L.A. Woman", "People Are Strange", "Hello, I Love You", "Touch Me", "The Unknown Soldier", "Roadhouse Blues", "Love Her Madly", "Riders On The Storm". Sadly Jim Morrison died in 1971 at the age of only 27 but left a great legacy of music.

The Doors didn’t have bass player (except during recording sessions), so for live performances Manzarek played the bass parts on a Fender Rhodes piano keyboard bass. That true Doors sound was Ray’s Vox Continental combo organ

My favorite LP is "Strange Days," but I am a fan of all their work. They definitely had their own sound. Sometimes, the lyrics got a little convoluted, but art is art. Thanks for posting, Harri!

Morrison, and many others paid homage to the classic blues men. Wolf, Muddy, even Bo Diddley. The originals were never really played on popular radio. Now we can listen and compare, now we know how amazing those older artists were.

Great choice Harri! Jim just oozed cool, angst and sex. Why do so many of the great artists - the truly unique ones - leave this world so early? Maybe they lived so much of life in their short time here that they live it all up in a short time. (?). There goes my mind wandering again...

If I'm not mistaken my man this is song by Willie Dixon he also had written Spoonful which is the song Primadonna I don't know if you've reacted to that or not but anyhow I actually saw Willie Dixon on the show back in the early 90s and he did this spoonful classic it's funny he reminded me of my granddad the way he moved and everything he had his little elf Fedora Stetson hat like you used to wear in the 30s I don't know what you call those like a business hat you know yeah Jimi Hendrix did a song by himself called rock me baby he did that one at the Monterey Pop Festival back in 1967 when he was introduced to America even though he was American I mean you used to play the Chillin circuit with Curtis Mayfield and Little Richard and others many played little clubs like back in Greenwich Village Cafe Wha that sort of thing all right my man

I think you would be interested in checking out The Tea Party. The song Sister Awake Much More Music Toronto. The lead singer Jeff Martin looks and sounds eerily like Jim Morrison. They are a Canadian band and have a middle eastern feel to their music. Only three members and they use some very different instruments along with the usual drums and guitar. Cheers

Jim definitely was not referring little girls in the literal sense, and 'back door man' is another term for being a side guy, as in the lyric "The men don't know, but the little girls understand", he's saying that he's messing with girls that already have either a husband or boyfriend. Well, personally, I don't really care for this song's lyrics, but, I do like the music. My late husband liked The Doors, thanks for doing a reaction video of them.

Well the argument is that you know who I don't know if it was Howlin Wolf / Willie Dixon but whoever wrote it you know they were the original Riders but it is amazing how these bands had such an appreciation for that old music and he had taken it to another level and that's a wonderful thing that they had done they were so inspired because they love that music so much and of course that should be the case you know cuz all those black folks back in the day they came up with this music on their own date had nothing to work with they were stripped of their culture you weren't allowed to sing their songs from Africa and they were taken separated from their culture so they had to invent their own and by God they did such a fantastic job and doing that because they came from their feelings you know all that suffering that they had been through with slavery and all that oppression and everything so when they worshipped the came up with the gospel sing out in the fields where they were working I came up with the call answering response and then David Wayfarer Troubadours came up with the Blues and then Scott Joplin came up with a jazz and Ragtime and when they all moved North her lot of them are rather they came up with the Chicago blues and then you had swing and Bebop and all that but yeah the blues kind of got buried with the big band era unfortunately but it was great that these young kids from England and Beyond this case these young kids stateside with the doors for example they really appreciated this music and they brought it forth and put their stamp on it and all those great Originators blues rock Jazz gospel they deserved no less

I always find it really weird when words of yesterday are so misunderstood and misrepresented today ... very sad really as language is being diminished. The song ''Baby it's Cold Outside' comes to mind as an example of this. The character assassination of so many people is truly awful. There is something so naive about this kind of misrepresentation but dangerous.

A “back door man” of course is someone who sneaks in the back door to have an affair with your wife while you’re not home. But supposedly Jim Morrison loved this song partly because “back door man” also served as a double entendre for his favorite kind of sex.
@mr.knowitall64403 жыл бұрын
"Back Door Man" means you're visiting a woman while her man's away... so you use the back door on the sly... 😎 It is not about anal sex... although I don't know what Jim was into... TMI
@BlGGESTBROTHER2 жыл бұрын
It's a well established fact that Morrison was into anal sex. The original song was about cheating but I'm pretty sure Jim wanted to cover it because of the double meaning.
