I get why some people would get upset over catch up mechanics but honestly for me they’re a god send. As a single father who works full time nights and goes to school during the day I don’t get very much time to play so when I do I like having things I can log in and immediately do, upgrade, etc.

If you actually play the game, you won’t need the catch up mechanic. By your logic, there’s no point for you to play the game at all.

As someone that has played sparingly since BfA, didn't play SL, and am just getting into DF, I'm quite overwhelmed by how much content I've missed out on, and how much new stuff there is. I feel like I need to play the next 10 years uninterrupted and with no new content releasing in the meantime just to get caught up.

Right now there are several catch up mechanics implemented by blizzard the last seasons and it's a bit overwhelming, because they are still in the game and if you explore a lot it can get confusing. But the good thing on DF you don't need to do any story related stuff anymore to get the best gear and the video shows you a lot of information how to get gear. But the best gear still comes from Mythic+, Raid (and crafting). The crafting part is new since DF and important to Min-Max your char but this is a complete other topic. So don't get stressed out about all the new stuff you can do now. Catch up ilvl with the things mentioned in the video and if you start to Min-Max your char play M+ and push your keys up to +16 to get the 447 ilvl out of your weekly vault.

Just a quick suggestion if people want to use the piggyback method of mythic plus, try if possible to use a +17 key instead of a +16, as the gear you can get from the chest at the end will be a heroic raid equivalent as opposed to a normal raid equivalent, and the difficulty increase is negligible.

If you finish the Zaralek campaign the final quest will award you with a 437 crafting crest from killing Sarkareth on any difficulty, LFR included.

The Sunless/Moonless/Skyless/Starless (leather/cloth/mail/plate), neltharic, deeprock and trinkets also can drop as an i379 version to save a few Flightstones (if you have the gold to spare, as they're around 1-4K, rather than 100-1000g).

So funny all these systems. Wotlk had it down. Say what you will about the LFG tool that was added, but it was a blast to queue with friends or guildies. ‘Wanna some dungeons?’ ‘Sure’ group up, queue up to get some randos, run them all night collecting some marks and gear, then boom. You got cool gear for yourself and your alts via heirlooms. They have been trying to reinvent the wheel since and haven’t done it

Well. This is great for me. Since i want to complete my Lfr, normal and now heroic mode armor sets on my alts. Managed to use the boa tokens from Forbiden Reach for the Vault of the Incarnates armor set.. So this is very nice.

best way i found to get endgame gear efficiently is to spam +17's so you get heroic drops then mythic vault.

They theoretically reworked secondary stats for the beginning of dragonflight such that supposedly a piece of gear with a higher gear score should always be of greater power than one of lesser gear score, regardless of the secondary stats on it. Trinkets will always be an exception and some classes are still a bit dependent on specific stats, but for the most part replacing a 410 with a 420 should always be a dps increase even if the 420 has your worst stats and the 410 has your best stats. No more wearing boots 30 ilevels lower than the rest of your gear because they have haste and the higher level boots don't.

No no no. Stats are still pretty damn important. If you hit say 440 Item level with no regard to your secondaries, sure you'll do more damage than you did at 400 but someone else with "correct" stats will easily double your damage or healing output. I just started Dragon Isle on a new level 60, I had ilvl 135 when I started (rogue). Chromie time only gave me armor up to ilvl 120. I bought stuff to get to 135. I'm getting killed all over the place. I've finally reached ilvl 180. Everything in the Auction house costs a minimum of 2,000 gold. I only have 12,000. I'm really not having a fun time. Just trying to grind through it. As a returning player, this is not fun!!

The wow forums are a ghost town when it comes Blizzard's responses to class forums. Warlock, Priest and Paladin have gotten some responses this year. The other classes not so much. Blizzard is all too happy to keep adding useless items to our bags, or patch only events for gear catch up. However, when it comes to getting into the guts of class balance. Not so much. Having to sit through half an expansion or a whole expansion for your main class to get a real fix is depressing. Yet, hey here is a new spec that will be a mandatory must have for serious high end guild raids. Dragonflight is awesome story wise and game play wise (if you have a functional main class). Otherwise it feels like Blizzard is throwing a lot of shiny shallow things at us to distract the player base from the actual problems with the game. Classes and their viability in group content. I wont mention how terribly disappointing the Night Elf heritage questline is. No spoilers, but Male Night Elves still can't change the color of their markings?! Also, for the love of god, stop adding escort quests to the game. They suck.

Gearing is pretty unfun, goes fast, and mainly weekly players enjoy it, because they play for mythic or raids, pvp's just are there, nothing else there is, just some world arcade games and collectibles that makes no challange/fun, some lore quests that are good, but very finite. The community is very confused between rushing or not rushing, if you don't rush, then begs the question why don't you, we want to finish this asap, so why stat it, if you just want to finish it. I am quietly waiting what will change in WoW in this perspective.

still pretty weird to me that "Veteran" gear comes from all the new world content and is upgradable, but you can't catalyze it into the tier sets. You'd think the biggest impact on your character's power would be accessible to as many people as possible to keep people in the content loop, but wow does like to segregate its player base for whatever reason. LFR gear is the same item level and that can be converted. location of acquisition shouldn't be a limiting factor

WoW sure is great at making gearing unnecessarily complex and sucking the fun out of the idea of logging in. At this point, I think I’d… rather have BFA TF/WF WQ rewards as a primary way to gear alts or catch up on a main. To me hunting for good tf/we procs is more enjoyable than dealing with different currencies and activities and upgrades and how all of it works plus the crafting aspect for some items.

There was something more chill about the system of looking at a map icon and it showing you what you would get for doing it. It's still there if you're leveling an alt with world quests, but the progression cutoff is so low it's worthless at 70.

Stupid and pointless patches that add irrelevant content that only bloats the game, not to even mention that said content becomes unplayable a few days after it drops cause it does not scale and people stop doing it. (look at Forbidden Reach, Time Rifts, etc.) Likely confusing as all hell for new players, too. I dread anytime I log on an alt and see the hundreds of quests in Valdrakken, because every new patch adds a new one to follow. Honestly, the best thing with these patches is the cosmetic/customization options they add/change, and that is about it. Don't get me wrong, I like WoW overall, but the direction of these patches is just not for me.

My main is 415 ( which is very low by today's standard) and to be honest, I don't really see the point of farming or having the need to have a higher ilvl at the moment. I don't raid, I don't do mythic + and I don't play pvp, so what's the point? I really don't see why people put so much effort doing professions and all of that just to get a bit more item level when gear for the most part doesn't mean a thing anymore. For solo content, 415 is more than enough for me and I kill pretty much everything with ease, so why would I bother?

The only good thing about Dragonflight was Dragon riding and professions revamp (which now is nothing new and lost the excitement). New zones are boring with the same "assault" events. They use old dungeons for M+ which are broken (looking at you MoP dungeons). It's a total mess. Classic on the other hand is an adventure

DF is generally a 'good' expac but It seems to be devolving into a bloated mess regarding itemization. In the beginning, it was simple with the vault of incarnates, super fun and engaging but they kept adding system after system and the whole thing is an abomination at this point.

In what way? it seems fairly simple to me. You get loot from things and those can be universally upgraded by doing various kinds of PvE content. That's the only system and it seems pretty straightforward once you get how it works.

Taking your suggestion of a fresh lvl 60 buying Zeralak gear on the AH. Not a single piece came up on search that didn't require a lvl 70 Character. You guys are great at telling the story of how to gear up quickly but always seem to leave out the little detail that the character must be at max lvl to use any of it. Back to running old content until the sub dies and this game with it. Keep on trying!

The one thing that has pissed me off about modern wow of late is the static timed events. Not being able to do content when you have time/want to do it, is bullsh!t. This is removing player agency and freedom and it makes me want to unsib and I probably will because of it.
