So glad I'm not the only one who got reminded of Annihilation! Shinsenkyo and Area X are portrayed very similarly so far, the expedition no one comes back from as their normal selves as well... so interesting. I'm anime only so I really have no clue what the plot will do from now on. It is fascinating.
