I had the most pleasant day with them, I worked at an airport in northern Minnesota and we got blizzarded in, they were there as they'd had a concert the night before. We were the only ones in the bar, got the cards and a bottle of bourbon and had a marvelous afternoon. It was so dim outdoors that even with the huge windows they didn't need to wear sunglasses, Edgar's eyes had a hint of pale blue but his brother's didn't. I have seldom spent time with such perfect gentlemen, courteous almost to a fault. How many guys stand up when a lady leaves the table?

Between Edgar’s multiple instruments and Johnny’s amazing guitar skills, I don’t think there are enough adjectives to describe these musical siblings. Their father had the right idea when he chose to nurture their musical talents since he needed to keep them out of the sunlight most of the time. Thanks Harri 🌺✌️

@@ronforeman2556 I saw a wonderful documentary on Johhny. According to the manager who basically saved his life, Johhny only did heroin for a year or so. He did methadone for close to twenty years. The manager finally bought some empty capsules and started shaving a bit off of the methadone tablets each day and putting them into the capsules. Eventually Johnny ended up taking empty capsules for a year or so, until he was told he had been clean for over a year.

You may be referring to an early rendition with Johnny, from this same 1970 set, of what would eventually be called "Frankenstein," which The Edgar Winter Group would record for the album "They Only Come Out Night" ... sans Johnny ... in 1973. That band's drummer, Chuck Ruff, is credited with coming up with the name "Frankenstein," from all the snippets of recording tape from which the final album edit was pieced together.

These two Brothers from Texas were so damn talented. Johnny Winter is right there with Jimi Hendrix, as far as Blues go, and were considered the two best in the world in the late 60s. Edgar has the voice, and he can play so many instruments at a high level. The Brothers are Albinos, as you can see, and had to stay out of prolonged exposure to the sun. Johnny died first about 10 years ago in his mid to late 70s, and I think the younger Edgar has also passed in the last few years. They were so Blessed with musical talent.

As Young Teens, Johnny and Edgar would go to the, Black Nightclubs, Blues Joints, Roadhouses and wait patiently for that Bands to give them 5 minutes onstage. At the end of the night sometimes they would be allowed to take the stage. The 2 Whitest of White Long-haired kids. At this time, Superstition was common and just their appearance would frighten people.....and then they would play! Now people were Convinced they were some kind of Demons or had signed a Contract with Old Scratch like they said Robert Johnson had done. xNo Demons No Contracts, just 2 Brothers who loved the Blues and Practiced until they had developed their Own Style........

I was fortunate enough to have seen both Winters brothers. Funny/unique circumstance…the pre-band for the Edgar Winter show was a brand new band at the time…BAD COMPANY. It was fifteen minutes into the Winters show before we, the audience, could focus on him. Needless to say, Bad Company took second place to NO band, and that night was no different. The mind numbing music by Bad Co., stayed with everyone there and Edgar Winter could only listen along with us. Both were fantastic!
