I'm going to have to disagree with the pundits. Three different managers at the same club, going public and criticising their own players at the same club isn't a coincidence. The pundits only have a problem with Sarri going public because if they were in the shoes of the Chelsea players they would prefer being criticised privately so they would have an excuse to keep underperforming. The coach needs to understand that we can't play Arsenal the same way we played Newcastle, we needed a natural centre forward in this game. Our flanks bore no fruits today, y? as a Man United fan, I am starting to see that same thing happen here too (although at least your managers won the league) but the problem that most managers find difficult is motivating the players after 2 seasons or so (especially after they won the league) that is what separates the good managers from the great, that is why Fergie was one of the greatest, that is why I was worried when City brought in Pep and Liverpool got Klopp, because they know how to how to win trophies consistently. Why are people hating on him? Sarri has the right to say these things and if the players clearly aren’t mentally good for it, then he should be telling them off and pushing them to think “oh shoot, we’ve got a step up our game now he’s said this in public”. It’s like in school, getting told off from the teacher. So honestly, I don’t see anything wrong with it. The players know he means well and wants them to succeed. Money isn't enough of a motivating factor in any job it's just a short term motivator, once someone gets too comfortable in their job they become complacent, they take things for granted and become lazy, that is what has happened to those players. It is partially Sarri's job to motivate them by either dropping them when they don't play well or praising them when doing well, but there is no competition for places in this team, no squad depth, so they have very little to worry about.

Look at the difference today between the attitudes of Liverpool and Chelsea when they both went down. Yes, Liverpool are fighting for the title, but these are pros, that's no excuse. I watched both games, Liverpool did not stop running when they went down to palace, particularly after half time. They were aggressive, intense and hungry. Palace players could barely take a touch before they were being hounded. Chelsea looked like they were chilling out in the park, was too easy for Arsenal.

This is what happens when the players are more powerful than the manager. I have my reservations about Sarri and his tactics, but the guy has a point here. The likes of Hazard, Luiz, and Willian are more of liabilities than they are assets. These guys are too influential in the dressing room to the point that the manager must massage their fat egos otherwise he is fired. And as much as this will sound controversial, these players aren't as good as they think. They should be offloaded ASAP. And then about Jorgino and Alonso.. What do these lazy bones add to the squad? They should be benched at least. Chelsea was strongest during the era of Malouda, Drogba, Terry, Essien, Lampard, Ferreira, Makelele, Cech, Cole, among others. As much as they were talented, their main strength was that they played for the badge, for the love of the club. The current squad is full of glorified, self exalting babies!

To be fair, Alonso has hit the post the most times out of any player in the Prem. Like, I know Hazard’s our best player, but play him on a wing so we have somebody to cross to. Plus, Kante isn’t being played in his natural defending position.

As a Chelsea fan this is really frustrating to me. Whilst we do have players that are more than capable of winning games, I really don't think Sarri is playing them in the positions they should be played. Kante should be a CDM under all circumstances, if Jorginho is to play he needs to be ahead of Kante feeding balls through to the attackers. Hazard absolutely shouldn't be in the middle, put him on the wing so he can cut inside past players and feed the ball through to a strong middleman. CHO should be given a proper chance over players like Willian who really aren't playing with passion anymore. Whilst Sarri is correct about the players not putting in the work they should be, playing players in positions they aren't comfortable playing in won't help improve their mentality.

I may be wrong and am very open to hearing others opinions. Does this season not feel like Pep's first season in England but it's Sarri and Chelsea instead of Guadiola and City. I'm not saying Chelsea will go on to do what City have done but fans not having patience with this different style of play, wanting a quick fix and the club's need for new players for this new system to work. I feel this season will be the hardest for Sarri to get through as Chelsea manager if he does, hopefully survive it. He has to achieve while playing a style of football he has promised Abramovich with a squad built for a much more defensive style. As much as it pains me to say it we need to look at Liverpool. The success they are having at the moment didn't come from nowhere it took time and patience.

However, he has improved so much under Pep to how he is currently. Chelsea really don't captivate me given this is Sarri's first season. Wont end well for Sarri, this is Chelsea after all. The second it goes wrong for a Chelsea manager, it is never recovered. This is the third time we've seen it in 4 years with them. Really, we got knocked out the champions league as the holders and had to win the Europa league, which by the way we made hard work of, we finished 6th in the league after imploding at this time last year, we were just off the relegation zone as champions under Mourinho, how is that not a mentality problem? 3 of our managers have now had to go strikerless. I remember Mourinho played all 3 strikers against PSG to make a point to the board that I can play all of my strikers and not one of them would get a goal, which backfired because Ba scored, but the point was there, Conte stopped playing strikers and so has Sarri, this does not happen because a manager is bad, it happens because we have the same group of players and a poorly run club! We're doing well to still be in the top 4, I can only hope we ride this out and make it to the champions league.

Not only are Hazard and Kante are their best players, they are also their best liked players. And we saw what happened when Conte got rid of Costa. When Sarri first came one of the things the team was excited for was his attacking style and the fact that Hazard can shine under him. Chelsea started the season well when he had Giroud in the squad and granted he was not scoring Hazard played well off of him. Sarri is stubborn and it is a situation of my way or no way. But right now his way is failing.

Difference between this and Conte and Mourinho is that the players are, in theory, playing the sort of football they should want to play. In the past we've been playing turgid, dull football that gets results but not in the style the players enjoy. Hopefully the players respond to this, but I dont see this as the main problem at the club. Some of the players just aren't very good. Alonso, in particular, is somehow the starting left back, has proved time and time again to be a completely incompetent left back, yet somehow Emerson isnt even getting a chance. A striker is obviously a position that needs filling, Sarri is only playing Hazard there because there's no other real option. Sort those two positions out and thats a start, midfield needs a bit more creativity as well, very solid but lack a De Bruyne type player who can play a killer ball in my opinion.
