I was really impressed by the speed, clarity and soundstage of these headphones. Overall, I felt their voicing was quite even/ balanced, especially compared to the Meze 109 Pros, which were overly bright/harsh by comparison. Deep-bass was a smidge thin compared to some other headphones, but for the speed & clarity I'll gladly take the trade-off. I'd have to listen to them for longer sessions to see if that continues to ring true, but I was quite impressed with the Moondrop Venus.

@hoth21122 жыл бұрын
@@dustinmihalcheon5013 the Meze were far too forward/bright for my tastes. Treble was very sibilant, far more than any of the other headphones I was comparing them too.(Verum, Erzetech, Sennheiser, moondrop) I never got to use them for gaming, but I imagine that while they may be sibilant, it may help with spatial awareness in some cases, but I worry that their heightened treble will require lower volume, hurting the spatial awareness of the lower frequencies.

The placement of the cable connection has to be a cost cutting measure, as it only needs one identical model for both ears. If it is to get higher end sound into a semi affordable ranges, it is reasonable.

You continue to improve as a filmmaker. I noticed and appreciated the subtle yet effective sound design, and little keyboard flourishes. I think you're doing a great job of capturing moods and opinions visually, when you cut away to the headphones. Yet the textures and colors when you're in the shot convey a very different feeling, and the contrast seems meaningful. I like how your shirt in particular conveys texture, and contrasts the texture of your facial hair. Just really nice work. Also, you look good in those glasses. I think they're good for more than occasional use.

Joshua i dont know if you read your comments i hope you do and can answer some questions im currently using the dt 900 pro , ive been meaning to upgrade thinking between this and the meze 109 pro in the 500-800range what headset would you recommend for metalheads listening to bands like ( trivium , in flames ,korn,mastadon, dope ,machine head, sabaton, soil, etc)
@PantsaBear Жыл бұрын
I'll answer for you, because Josh is too busy editing his videos to look pretty to answer a single comment on any of his videos (or make relevant headphone comparison despite his job to be inform people on how a product fits into the market) Both those options are solid, but it's kind of hard to say what's "best" for you when it seems you have not tried a Planar magnetic headphone to this point. You might be better off buying a planar for around $200 or $300 before jumping up so high in price, but if you really have your mind set on an expensive pair, then yeah the Venus will probably be a good upgrade since you seem okay with treble heavy headphones like a DT 900. The Meze is also bright, but I don't think you're going to get that same excitement with Metal like you would with a good planar. There's also Hifiman Sundara, Amanda, and Edition XS as well, just be aware Hifiman QC and headphone usability is just as bad, if not worse, than Moondrops. They're also similarly tuned, so not really sure what Josh is talking about when he can't recommend a Venus but will highly recommend midrange Hifiman products

I have owned the following Hifiman headphones, He-500 He-400i, Ananda, Arya, sold them and only kept the He-400i for value for money and as a reference monitor. I also tried the Monoprice M1060-M1060C and the Goldplanar GL2000. I have just completed the correct cable-amp pairing and the Moondroop Venus are spectacular: the precision in spatial placement is impressive, natural, fast and transparent. I can hear details that other headphones dream of. They have a sound halfway between a planar and an electrostatic without the defects of both. They have no brightness compared to what was found with the Arya and a bass that is too colorful and not very precise. In my opinion they are perfectly tuned. Too bad about the side grills which seem designed for cutting thin slices of vegetables, otherwise very comfortable to wear. I would give up all desktop amplifiers to be able to make planar headphones sound worthy. Even though the Venus has a sensitivity of around 100 db I found it less efficient than the Hifiman he-400i which has a rating of 93 db, and both need a robust amplifier with a good current output to be driven correctly. I wouldn't buy Hifiman again and I'm sorry I wasted so much money in the past. My personal setup: Mac+class A solid state amp + silver RCA signal cables + Wireworld occ copper power cable + occ copper balanced headphone cables. My ranking: 1st Venus, 2nd GL2000, 3rd Arya, 4th Ananda, 5th He-400i, 6th M1060C, 7th M1060. for spatial reconstruction and price it would perhaps be right to place the M1060C in 3rd place.

I tested the Moondrop Venus 2 ties, but did not really had the feeling it needs to be an planar to be honest. There are dynamic driver headphones in this price range (or slightly above) that beat the Venus in most aspects. For me personally, the only reason to use a planar is, when it outperforms an dynamic driver which, for me, the Venus doesn't. Especially with an driver that size it did disappoint in terms of bass performance (which is basically the only reason to have a driver this size, to have good impact and sub bass qualities). For its price it sounds okay, it is worth the money imho, but i don't see at all how this needs to be an planar with that driver size. I have the feeling that more and more companies, especially Chinese, use planar magnetic just because their target audience thinks, it has to be better automatically. Planars actually have a lot of downsides and you should only use planars if you make them do what they can do best. And the Venus, to me, does not do that.
