After she had given, in English, a superb performance of James Brown's "It's a Man's World" in the previous round, Igor Krutoy said that he wasn't going to call her a genius until he had heard her sing in Russian. (She had sung "Derniere Danse" in French in the first round.) It makes me laugh that this was her response!

This is an old wedding ritual song, it's like a puzzle, it consists of phrases taken from ritual songs. Where it is sung in a whisper is like the words of a deceased mother, because in Russia since ancient times it was believed that the river is the border between the world of the living and the dead, as in the mythology of others countries. So the girl-orphan came to the river to tell the mother that she was being given away for the unloved, to a strange family, ask for blessings and cry.

Diana was both MAGICAL and Mesmerizing during this Performance. The concept is about an orphan bride going to the river to talk with her Mother’s Spirit. The other guy is Brandon Stone who has composed her Original Songs. He composed her first DA album. I love “Duduk”. I use to fall asleep with it on…for several moths. 100% agree with everything you said and I can't understand how anyone could attack her, she is a true phenom and should be celebrated everywhere. Besides that full rich and dark timbre she is just so damn good at everything it's unbelievable and when she decorates a song with vocalizations it sends you soaring! I pity those that can't or refuse to appreciate her.

One of my favorites by her is from the "Show Mask Go On" entitled "Oh, It's Not Yet Evening" kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZe3moShf9d_n5I. It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song. I'm not sure how many people appreciate the emotional gasps she produces here that absolutely melt me.
