I have a question! Do you tend to book flights last-minute? Or a combination? If you do book flights last minute, is it to allow for the unpredictable nature of travel? Are there other reasons? I've enjoyed learning from your family, you're all such seasoned travelers!
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders8 ай бұрын
Almost always last minute. We’re literally planning things as we go. Mainly because of cash flow and also because there are so many moving parts. Available homes (we often do home exchanges) We’re also visiting many countries now that require visas so it’s important to only book once we have everything in order. I wish we could plan more in advance and have everything lined up but we don’t. 🤪😂

Oh no 😂😂 our next video (not this Sunday but next) we’re going to put only Korean songs. 👍😎👌
That red tteokbokki is not traditional Korean food but modern korean food. Tteokbokki was originally a royal court dish made by stiring rice cakes, vegetables, and beef in a little soy sauce. However, in modern times, tteokbokki has turned into a spicy and sweet junk food. Most of Korea's spicy foods originated after the Korean War. Kimchi originally didn’t have chili either. Paradoxically, Korean food was so bland in the past that red pepper has come to be used a lot in modern times. However, even now, chilies are generally not used in beef or traditional holiday foods. Lastly, tteokbokki is the most trashy food among Korean foods and the most harmful to the body. Korean food is a vegetable-based diet that does not use oil. Korean temple food is a representative traditional Korean food.
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders8 ай бұрын
Oh wow! Thanks for these insights. We don’t know Korean food at all so this was all new to us.
@익명-p3g8 ай бұрын
Are you Chinese? It is true that tteokbokki is a modern food, but is Korean food boring? Gochujang, soybean paste, and soy sauce are very old.
@gaweekin5248 ай бұрын
@@익명-p3g I think you are communist chinese. I like Japan. Anyway, soybean paste and soy sauce are really old in Korea. However, although red pepper paste appears in old books from the late Joseon Dynasty, only a very small number of people used it at that time. Gochujang became widespread after the Korean War. The sauce for bibimbap, bibim noodles, and tteokbokki was all soy sauce until the 1950S-70s. And foods with pepper sauce, such as stir-fried pork and dakgalbi, also appeared after the 1970s. These evidences show that red pepper paste has a short history as a food that has spread in modern times. What is important is not when it was imported, but when it was widely used. Even though coffee was introduced to Korea during the Joseon Dynasty, most people did not drink coffee at that time, so no one considers coffee an old traditional food.
