I like the idea of the lip on the cap, I think that it makes it have a more smoother and custom look and will probably help keep the water out too. If you were concerned of water leakage why didn't you bring a couple of tubes of silicone for them to apply to the top of the box before they set the cap on. Anyway, I think the cap looks great.

I have the same leer cap on a 2018 F150 except it has a single rear handle. No leaks for 1.5 years. Btw looks good on your truck

Yeah it looks great on there,that would bug me to! I have 07 f150 with Leer cap and the windows leaked after 5 years.i pull them out and cock them up! The sides flared out a little ,but not that much..I got used to it.

Never been a fan of truck cap but I do like the idea of extra storage space. If you don't want the truck shutting off at red lights there's a button on the dash above the radio it's got a A with a circle around it, that disables the auto stop/start until you shut the truck off. Then it resets itself when you start it again.

U can also get an aftermarket disable bypass and it will let you still use it if you want

And there is a modification you can get online for $100 USD called the AutoStop Eliminator. basically it looks like it replaces the factory start-stop button and hazard (different versions are available for different Spec. trucks.) Bill if you don't know about it, check out forscan it's a aftermarket program it looks a little sketchy but it has a lot of the functionality of Ford's factory scan tool and it has worked great for me. You can disable the auto stop start and tons more items with the lights.

Bill, Had a Leer tonneau cover on my 09 ford (from same dealer you bought your cap; Was never impressed with their aftersales services.) The sides flared out the same. You get used to it but Leer should be doing a better job at it. Have fun with your new truck.

I dont like that it has 2 knobs to lift the rear hatch up. Why cant there be only 1 latch{knob} in the middle?. And yes, as others have said, silver is tough color to match. If you ever get hit and need body work and paint done to your truck do not expect the color to match.

Gel Coat color will be off a bit in most cases but still looks sharp.Locks also like graphite......I noticed my truck drives a little nicer with no drag on the rear end now.

That Transmission was co developed by Ford and Chevrolet. Bill you should get yours and your wifes vehicle dash cams. They can provide evidence in case of accidents. Personally I would probably have gone with a lockable roll top.

Bill what model is that ? Is it the legend ? If so , That's what I put on my Silverado and it has a gap where it overhangs the bed side also not as much as yours but it isn't tight against the bed . I added the carpet headliner and the removable front window options total price here in the states was 1775.50

@@billstmaxx ok that would be the legend that's what I have it's been on the truck almost a year and no issues a couple slight leaks not sure from where just have figure that out and seal them up I am very happy with it the paint match was a little off when new the cap was a bit darker but once the paint totally cured it lightened up a bit and is almost a dead match now... just remember NO high pressure washes or wax for 90 days so the paint will properly cure i think that's what my dealer told me

I'm just wondering why the brainiacs at Ford and the like decided that these pickup trucks needed a 10-speed transmission? Time you need that much gearing is if you're pulling very heavy loads. Otherwise it just seems like a lot more components in the gear shift to wear down and break with questionable results as far as fuel economy improvements are concerned

I would be concerned that road dirt and grime is going to build up under that lip. Even winter salt and muck is going to find its way up under there. When I had a Leer cap it came with a rubber bootie that went over the handle. It really helped keep funk out of the keyhole.

What's going to seize up on it? This system doesn't use cables! The parking brake system on this truck is completely different than your other truck! It is still not a bad idea to use it once in a while, but you don't have to use it every time you park. The electronic parking brake is actually a better and more reliable system than the older systems. It is basically an electronic motor that is just engaging the rear brakes. It is using the same brake pads that the vehicle uses to stop, not separate shoes like your other truck had for the parking brake.

Get you a can of that graphite lock spray from home depot and use that on the locks on the topper and your pad locks. Much better than that white lithium spray

That's a nice cap bill, redesigned because the old one was like a sieve lol :-D. No you can't have a dog wash, you are not ruff ruff enough :-D. Dam the new vehicle has a fault, i wonder if the clunk is the rear parking brakes. Perhaps just a spot of plain thin oil in the key holes would coat the lock nicely. Not wd40!!.

Never never never spray lithium grease OR WD40 in locks. Use only dry graphite powder in locks and you will never have them freeze, seize up or be hard to use. Silver is the worst colour to ever match to. Even if they get Ford's paint code and colour match it, it will still be off.
