I've never concentrated so hard at driving as I have in Thailand. It really is crazy the speed difference between vehicles on the same road - 20 kmh on the left and 120 kmh on the right and that's not even counting tractors, buffalo, carts and motorbikes.

Hi Chuck and Paige Enjoyed the video and the review what you’ve done to your fortuner and how it runs , after you adding 200000km onto it , seems still like a very good vehicle , been a good buy to you , I’m living 35 km from korat and the daily driving is horrendous, I don’t know how they stay alive on the roads , my girlfriend is a teacher here and I keep on about helmets on motorbikes and her reply is people wear helmets to protect them from the police (200 baht fine) not in case of an accident, enjoy your holiday and safe travels Regards Davy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇹🇭

Hey Chuck and Paige, nice to be back on the road again. I'll be doing that in the middle of next month. Be moving just south of you guys. I don't know if you noticed the cop car as you went past him at 15:03 if you were speeding you will get a ticket in the mail. I don't know if you know it or not but Korat is the second largest city in Thailand. I loved living in Korat for 14 years. It was a big mistake when I left. I apsalutly hate living in Bangkok. It is very dirty and a lot of homelessness. I will be glad when I'm gone. Enjoy your time guys and I'll keep watching.

I'm happy to see you finally gave Romyen Garden a test. I generally stay there twice a quarter, going down and coming back. However, living in Udon, I end up taking Highway 2 down and back as well. I've been lazy about food, given the restaurant is pretty good for dinner, but I'll have to give that next-door place a try. Your dinner looked pretty tasty. On my last stay there we walked over to the Thao Suranari Monument which is located along the near wall of the old city.

Hi, Chuck & Paige, I enjoyed your video. It is good to see you going on a trip with just the two of you. I can be around people but I must have my me time I tend to give it away and always regret it. Enjoying the freedom of just the two of you not having to think about others' needs just your own is a holiday in itself. I'm looking forward to seeing Kara soon and catching up with what she has been up to in So America. Sounds like she has settled right in and is getting around town on Kiat no problem. The solar panel for Kiat is a great idea she needs never has to worry about running out of power which I know is a concern for her. Look forward to you next video adventure. Great stuff as always Chuck. Have been to Ayutthaya on one of my prior visits to the Kingdom. What an amazing, spiritual place. It was towards the end of COVID, my Thai girlfriend at the time said there should have been buses and buses, hundreds of people. I counted maybe 30 people over the whole day. We stayed at the IuDia Hotel on the river. Awesome but pricey. Have fun

Yep, Chuck, one needs to be looking ahead, up, down, left, right, and behind all at the same time. 😵‍💫 Often seem to have to dodge a sidewalk obstacle while ducking something overhead at the same time. Can't afford to lose your mobility with age here in Thailand. 😁

Hi Chuck, you are right about Isaan driving. I've driven throughout most of Issan and the road I find most annoying is Chumpae khonkaen to Nong Bau Lumphu vis Ban Si Bun Reung. What a menace of a stretch. Have you driven it?

Safety 5th?? I think it is much further down the list like maybe 20th haha. It is about the same here in the Philippines. You need your head on a swivel here between traffic and holes and much more. Just saw my first fatal motorbike accident here the other day. I am surprised there is not more. This city has no traffic lights or stop signs.

In BKK the Japanese area up Sukhumvit way does not want other nationalities there. They charge steep prices for the Japanese and dont want the rubes to know. Many bar workers get paid off drinks and not bar fines. One Thai bar girl called Japanese men 333, three millimeters, three minutes, three thousand baht.

I often wonder how many apparently single vehicle motorbike accidents are actually hit and runs or where a bike has come down in avoiding a collision and the other vehicle has driven away. The son of a friend was killed hitting a small tree, subsequently it was identified that a car pulled out in front of him and forced him off the road.

Also can you imagine being the person who killed a motorbike rider who only drives strait out in front of you. Now you are at fault initially and have to live with their mistake.

Remembering a lady i spent time with .A few days later having a chat (Broken tinglish )And me saying about how crazy the Thai's are on the road .Then she hits me like a brick saying ''I lost 2 of my children on the back of my bike in an accident .She said it in a so matter of fact way (Like Thai's do )All i could do was hug her fighting the tears in my eyes .''You good man '' i nearly lost it im not ashamed to say 🥹Sorry chuck ,had to share this .Looking forward to Your's and Paige's journey as always 🙏

So your saying they need to pay them more to police? I wasn't saying I had the solution. You would have to be here I suppose to see what there daily activities consist of. Also There is plenty of funds here, Bangkok itself has quite a few businesses that pay tax...

@@notime2bsad I am not clear whether those business taxes would pay for everything though. There is a reason why infrastructure is so much better in western countries; because we pay a lot higher taxes. Just paying through business taxes won’t cut it. You are probably right that there are still inefficiencies in govt that need ironing out to make money flow more effectively. But paying no taxes and then complaining about poor infrastructure is a little silly IMO

@@jamesgulland infrastructures pretty good here, have you ever been to Thailand? I've been to many places in the US. I think you are just say I have no reason to complain since I don't pay tax. Fair enough.. I was asking my wife what do they do during the day when they're not doing the random road checks. Because because they're not policing.
