What a pretty edge! Thanks for sharing. Also very entertained by how the backing track keeps threatening to be “Careless Whisper.”
@ArwenNanya9 ай бұрын
Idk if anyone in the comments has asked this, but how would you bind off in that pattern? I see so many videos about cast on edges, but they sometimes fail to show you how to bind off in that same pattern. If there is another video showing the bind off, I'll save both videos for later. Anyway, it is a beautiful cast on 😊.

That is a lovely edging! But I was more fascinated by your magical, easy purls. And then I realized your knits were through the back! I gotta get off here and back to knitting. I can't wait to try your method of K/P. And I'm wondering if that edging is stretchy enough for sox? I'm definitely using it on a pair of fingerless mitts I'm about to make. THANK YOU TONS!
@KarinMurati11 ай бұрын
Hello Cherry, is that edging stretchy enough for sox? Have you tried it? Greetings from Germany
@resourcedragon11 ай бұрын
That's an eastern European style of knitting, sometimes referred to as Russian Granny knitting. If you notice, the needle goes in the _back_ of the stitch for knit stitches, as well as doing a much easer yarn grab for the purls. I believe you do have to make some other adjustments for things once you introduce patterning.
@bonniekonjevich757410 ай бұрын
Yes, I watched in wonderment as my Serbian mother-in-law did this enchanting knitting style. Now at close to 80, I love it but still knit in American form.🧶@@resourcedragon

First row was knitted through the back loop until the last one, knitted through the front. Next row was purl, and slips or knits in the first and last stitches of each row. All knits look like they are through the back loop unless it is the first or last stitch.
@KenZchameleon Жыл бұрын
The purl is basically Norwegian purl

Out of all the knitting video and all my frustrations, searching for someone who knits in the same way as I do, I finally found someone who knits from what I call the front side of the stitch with both knit and pearl! The techniques on how they do their stitches, the Continental or English styles have frustrated me to no end. My stitches come out twisted when I try to knit with those techniques. Leaving me to figure out more advanced stitches on my own 😢 you have gained my subscription. Thank you so much. 😀😊. Now I'm going to watch the rest of your videos. I've watched two so far to see if you really do stitch this way, or was it just these two videos.

My high school Home Ec teacher taught us this knitting pattern but instead of a small knitting needle we used broom handles that were cut in ⅓ pieces and sanded down. She called it broomstick lace. It's the ONLY knitting pattern I can do.

I’m back learning to knit after giving it a go when I was a child so please forgive me if these questions have obvious answers to them. But I won’t learn if I don’t ask. Why did you leave two strands of white yarn & one of the two strands at the bottom? Can you use this technique to do rib stitches for sleeve cuffs for example?!

the only thing that might be see as special is the beginning. the rest is just simple german style or Continental european style of knitting. just one row of twisted right stitches one row of left stitches. I have heard many times that continental european knitting is easier compared to the Imperial style which is is taught in US and UK. I do not know if it is true. since i am from Germany i never learnd the Imperial style...
