This is one of the most intense songs I've heard since I started my journey with metal. You can hear and feel the power of a Finnish winter pressing down on the singer. At the end, they finally succeed in overcoming. Great reaction to this amazing music. Please listen to Epica, another powerful symphonic metal band at Nightwish's level. Start with the song Unleashed from the Retrospect concert. You will be amazed.

Wintersun is always constantly on my playlists, because when you do complex, technical, multi-genre metal RIGHT, it is just masterpiece after masterpiece. Then again, they’re Finnish, so they were pretty much born with a guitar in hand 🤣

Genuine reaction, i see. And it got under your skin, nice. In a good way I mean. One thing I must say about Kai Hahto, the little drummer boy. Some say "The drummer just killed it, He is so great". I would say they almost killed the drummer :) Nice video, thank you. And you have very nice "shaali" on you.

I absolutely love this band and have loved Jari's stuff since Ensiferum days. This song when I heard it blew me away and after that seen them many times live in Finland and also in Wacken 2018 for example. Best gigs... Jari's compositions are just absolutely brilliant. It's really fun to see your reactions to the music I've loved for a long time. Cheers from a Gen-Xr... and you are lovely! What I feel with Jari's stuff.... All kinds of emotions. From crying to really sentimental... the whole scale.

Glad you found Wintersun and like it! In my opinion, Wintersun and Nightwish are the 2 best metal bands in Finland.There are many good songwriters in Finland, but I think two are composers: Jari Mäenpää (Wintersun) and Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish). My TOP 5 Finnish metal bands are the following: Nightwish, Wintersun, Amorphis, Insomnium and Ensiferum. All of them are worth getting to know! A few years before the pandemic, Kai Hahto was already touring as Nightwish's drummer (albeit still temporarily), and he couldn't participate in Wintersun's concert tour. So in those few years Wintersun had 3 touring drummers. But none of them played this song like Kai, but in a much easier and simpler way! 😂

There wouldn't be so many metal bands in Finland, if the musicians wouldn't be active in at least five bands. And they have different musical interests, backgrounds and roles in the band, which makes that understandable. E.g. Teemu Mäntysaari there is in Megadeth now, but he also has this more rock pop like band: "Smackbound - Change - Official Music Video". Quite often metal musicians have studied classical music: "Children Of Bodom vs Classical Composers", "Apocalyptica - 'Path' (Official Video)" and "Kalmah - Seventh Swamphony (Official Music Video)". Many don't understand how diverse genre metal is: "Hevisaurus - 100".

Oh, I remember the first time I watched this video. I couldn’t believe my eyes, and my ears. It’s so perfect! And even I’ve heard this for a thousand times, I’m still ready for battle every single time after listening to this one (don’t even know what/who against, but I’m at Jari’s side)! And yes, check also out Time and Land of Snow and Sorrow, these same sessions. They are just awesome!

Love your reactions. They are genuine, and you aren't intimidated by a little power or savage passion. Please keep going. Finland has so much great music. Also suggesting Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum, who share a very talented guitarist. Be The Sky or Rest in Your Heart, Frontiers or The Unknowing would all be fine first choices from Omnium Gatherum and Insomnium has so many... While We Sleep, Into The Woods, Out To the Sea, Godforsaken featuring Nightwish's Keyboard player's wife, Revelation... Just one of those bands without any bad songs because everyone involved is that good. Oh, then there's Epica, live with full orchestra and choir. You won't be disappointed!

Very interesting that you make the analogy to classical music. There are many(myself included) who maintain that metal music, in its various forms, is directly descended from classical music. And your English is fine. I don’t think anyone has any difficulty understanding what you’re saying. I’m just happy to see you enjoying metal. 🤟

"FOREVER THE FIRE BURNS IN OUR HEARTS!" is something Fëanor would chant :D! Have you listened to Eluveitie? I have a feeling you might like it, lots of symbolism, history and instruments! Seeing how much you enjoyed this, if you let me I would like to recommend you another melodic death metal band from Finland, this one more on the melancholic side rather than the epic. The name of the band is Insomnium, and the song I want to recommend you is quite heavy lyrically, but one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Pale Morning Star is the song if you want to check it out. I definitely think you should give it a listen even if you don't record a reaction. Cheers!

Kaitsu flexing his technical skills. Convinced by now that he's a left-hander, which means he's ambidextrous and thus able to switch up his playing style. As a leftie drummer boi, I can recognize certain things he does that a right-hander won't/can't do. Absolutely love the straight 4/4 over double bass triplet subdivisions, the permutations, displacements.. all that jazz. Great stuff. Still like "Time" (same rehearsals) better. Way better. Because technical mastery, however impressive, isn't the be all end all. I'm actually quite annoyed at times by his "musical" choices, like when he butchers a beautiful piece with those #!%💣blast beats. Nice to know he can do them well, but yeah.. absolutely horrible way to grab the spotlight imo. Guitar & vocal harmonies, the chord progressions in the midsection are truly stunning tho and save what would otherwise amount to overly technical "prog for prog's sake" showing off. Nice reaction as always Athena, salut et au revoir (also to Bouni). Oh & yes, please do one in French with subs AND another one in Dutch of course ;) Groetjes!
