I have a theory on the parent thing. I believe the parents may raise the child at a very young age (like we see with moo moo and his very young child) and then may leave when they are old enough to fundamentally exist. Since this world is far less dangerous than the one we live in, parents don't have to worry about any harm coming to their offspring and can trust others with their child. Also, one thing I'd like to mention is the episode "Widget gets the Blooey Blues", the same episode the "Be Happy" song is from, where they describe the Blooey Blues very accurately to depression with Walden saying that when someone has the Blooey Blues, they feel so sad they don't feel like doing anything. Fun fact: Bob Boyle is also the creator of the Jetix/Disney show called "Yin Yang Yo!" That show had a lot of similarities with Wow Wow Wubbzy, such as the artstyle and animation as well as some similar-looking characters. Yin Yang Yo also premiered in the same year and month as Wubbzy.

Sadly a very true point about girl lead characters having to be boys so the males don't get upset. As a male, I really don't mind when there's a female lead what so ever, especially Disney's princess movies when the music is stellar! I loved Pixar's Turning Red and still found it relatable. It's like how Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (which don't get me wrong, very much deserves all praise) got praised for handling "mature subjects" while Turning Red was attacked for doing the same. Gee, I wonder why men were so upset about Turning Red? But that aside, the fact that the innocent Wubbzy has the same voice actress as such an evil character like Azula is my favorite fact about the show. That she worked on those two shows that both aired on Nick around the same time is like seeing two sides of her (like Wubbzy going Wow Wow Wow during the day...and wanting to burn the whole planet at night). And the thing is, the UK dubbed over this show despite it being English because they feared kids would pick up American accents. Not the only American show to get dubbed over in British English as they did the same thing to The Backyardigans and Disney's Little Einsteins. The US has done the same to British shows like Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder. But as shown with the popularity of Peppa Pig and Australian series Bluey in the US and the Pokémon anime's popularity in the UK and Australia...kids really don't care about the variety of English they listen to. If anything, they're fascinated.

If they had any actual proof of this it’s more likely “picking up accents from tv shows” was just the kids who had a speech impediment and just never adopted the accent of were they are from yet or afterwards. I had pretty much every common problem with sounds to pronounce, and keep those problems way longer then most kids did. Therefore I speak in a way that is more in line with British or sometimes new New Jersey accent then my southern heritage. I mean I also can’t read phonology so depending on who or where I first heard the word it will probably be in that accent, and due to the fact that I’ve always read a mixture of American English and British English I’ll randomly spell things the English way making a lot of my teachers highly confused.

So Wubbzy is basically this show's Izzy. Who's Izzy? Good question! So in 1990, Atlanta beat Athens to host the Centennial Olympics in 1996. In 1991, they did a mascot contest so they'd have a mascot in time for the 1992 Summer Olympics closing ceremony handover. You'd think for the Centennial, the mascot would be gold, amazing, and ambitious, right? Well...not quite. Izzy was created by Atlanta local John Ryan, and Izzy is short for Whatizit. Izzy isn't a creature, Izzy isn't a human figure, Izzy is...something! A blue tear-shaped blob with rings around his eyes and tail and wore big red sneakers. No one liked Izzy, to the point that a cartoon (Izzy's Quest for Olympic Gold; aired only once on TNT on August 12, 1995) that the organizing committee created to tell his backstory and legitimize the mascot was considered LOST MEDIA until someone in 2020 discovered they had it recorded on a tape. They even released a game surrounding him on the SNES and Sega Genesis and it was...poorly received. The Olympic marathon route that was marked in blue was joked to be Izzy being dragged out of town. Honestly an Olympic mascot lore video would be phenomenal.

When I was in preschool, we once did this little game where everyone stood in a line and shouted out what they wanted to be when they grow up. Of course, everyone gave the obvious like a firefighter or an astronaut, but since at the time the wub girl special was out and I loved how pretty they looked I shouted out I wanted to be a wub girl when I grew up. Everyone looked at me and I knew they probably thought I was stupid. 1:13 As sad as it is, I'm kinda feeling guilty because one of the things I really appreciated about Wow Wow Wubbzy was that it's main character was a boy who freely had interests that were stereotypically feminine at times, and no one commented on it in a negative way in the show (at least I can recall). Like, He's a male character that isn't restricted to toxic masculinity. We need more childrens cartoons with female protagonists, but at the same time I liked the archetype present. Though when I was growing up in the 2000s-2010s they didn't care if it could be for girls/boys. Marketing was very 2-dimensional where if boys liked it, it got more seasons. If a show was 'made' for girls it would only stay as long as it could market toys. Which was a lot of shows! I think about how marketing affects kids shows/toys all the time.

Here’s a fun fact, @AthenaPOfficial, in the Nickelodeon Flash Game, Wubbzy’s Underwater Adventure, King Triton is a character that exists… So, he and the citizens of the Lost City of “Wuzzlantis” were all turned to stone by a Snappity-Snap Fish, this gigantic crab-like monster that is actually a small angler fish creature within… And in the end Wubbzy succeeds in killing the fish with bubbles (Wubbzy’s first canonical murder?), and returning Wuzzlantis to life… I’m not sure whether or not this is canon… But I believe Triton or the Merpeople of Wuzzlantis made an appearance in the series, sooooo… 🤷‍♂️

Think about it.. In the first episode, Widget doesn't take the time to help Wubbzy with his insecurities, instead cutting right to "fixing" the problem. When Widget gets the Bluey Blues? Walden and Wubbzy jump to help her right away. "She'll survive being sad for three seconds" What if she won't? Perhaps why the world of WowWow Wubbzy is so cheerful and happy, and why everyone is so quick to brush off scuffles and negative emotions, is because a depressive state is *fatal* to the creatures if this world if left uncheckes.

When I say this show shaped who I am today...this show was just as integral to me as Sesame Street was. I still say "that wasn't supposed to happen". I watched every episode and some repeatedly on DVDs. I had many toys and one big Wubbzy toy that talks. So I was especially hyped for this one. Sometimes he just appears at the most random times and it's the funniest when something bad manages to happen to him like that time he basically fell from the sky on a balloon and fell into a pond. I will deffo agree on that "Be Happy" song. As someone with depression I genuinely feel like the message just plain sucked. I loved the Wubb Girlz tho, they slay, IDC what people say about them they just do. The fact that they got Queen B herself never fails to amaze me. There's lots of things to say but I may save it for your potential other vids on it.

Dang, this was a fun video, especially when I used to watch the show and love it. Even I had moments where I thought "Where are Wuzzby's parents?" This and the show Oswald the octopus put me at ease watching but wondering how their world works. Like in Oswald there are foods for houses and a literal snowman running an ice cream shop! I dunno, if you haven't checked Oswald out I'd recommend it for the bizarre but chill as hell atmosphere.

I watched this show when I was a kid, but it has lived deep in the recesses of my mind. I vaguely remember the character types (cheerful one, handyman one, and smart one). And the only plot to an episode i remember to this day is someone wrecking their vocal chords by drinking lemonade after they had been practicing.

This show will always hold a giant piece of my heart because I loved it as a kid (I'm almost 21) and I decided to watch it the night I came home and told my family something traumatic happening to me at the time. It was definitely a comfort show as a kid.

The funny thing is, there is a Background song in the show (the one associated with Daizy) which literally has no words (unless you count occasional humming) that unintentionally does "Be Happy"'s job infinitely better than "Be Happy" does.

This show was my very first hyperfixation. I remember looking forward to the new episodes and making art of it and I had a Walden plush. I also used to use the words exclusive to the show irl, like I remember I would always ask my friends to play Kickety Kickball. Also I think Widget was my first crush??? For some reason?? The show just has a big ole special place in my heart. I had so much fun with it as a wee lass.
