When you compare newer to old SpongeBob, it’s insane to see how much has changed. What made the older seasons so much fun was how simple and well-timed the jokes were. Which is why I love the Doodlebob episode is such a masterpiece of comedy. It’s just hilariously well done. The newer episodes feel too rushed and bright. It’s like every second there’s a new joke that feels forced and exaggerated. It just doesn’t feel right. The characters feel too one-note and the jokes aren’t as funny as they used to be. Yet the upcoming episode, Squidiot Box, had controversy due to it retconning and missing the point of the Idiot Box episode that we all knew for about 22 years. I think Doodle DImension would have had a better concept... without the dimension angle. Like maybe Doodlebob, bored of being forgotten in the picture on the wall with nothing to do, wishing Spongebob had drawn him some company, goes out to find it. He could maybe find a version of Squidward from one of his paintings, maybe a doodle of Sandy from some of her blueprints, and it could have been interesting to see their different artstyles and how they play into how the characters move, and how they fight when they inevitably get caught by the originals. It could have even had a similarly touching ending to the original where they're all ultimately caught on a canvas together and get to remain friends in their new home so they're not so lonely.

@dullsunrise88208 ай бұрын
Ngl newer SpongeBob constantly relying on referencing and following up stuff in older seasons is sad. I get it’ll never reach the heights of the first three seasons no matter how good recent seasons become, but to get to that point of desperation shows how thin the writing staff has been run. They don’t feel like jokes they wanted to make rather higher ups trying to keep that relevancy as much as possible. Even more sad since the animation team showed how creative they could get with set designs and all.

The only characters I want them to bring back is Squilliam Fancyson (even though the showrunners said they have no plans on bringing him back) because his bickering with Squidward was hella funny and Stanley, Spongebob's taller cousin, I thought he was hella cute when I was a kid. He was so nervous and awkward, I felt so bad that he kept blowing stuff up accidentally because he genuinely wanted to find something that suited him for work and he just happens to be a victim of circumstance. Maybe he could take up photography since that was the only that seemed to not be affected by his presence. Ngl I kinda want them to bring back Blackjack too because the twist with him is so funny and he'd have the funniest beef with Plankton. Imagine Squidward giving Spongebob problems and Spongebob brings up his cousin Blackjack in conversation since he's visiting again, Squidward then gets worried that if he isn't nice Sponge that Blackjack will beat him up, funny antics ensue, Blackjack finally visits Sponge's place of work, Squid gets hella scared and thinks he's done for until he notices Blackjack is literally the size of Plankton.

To expand on your point, Nosferatu has only recently started to become a word that's synonymous with the word "vampire." The actual origin to where the word came from is actually unclear, with there being many proposed ideas on the origin of the word. According to an interview with Polygon, the guy who created the original Nosferatu gag in SpongeBob (Jay Lender) chose to call him Nosferatu instead of Count Orlok because it is a more recognizable name and because it sounded better given the tone the characters would say his name at the end of the episode.

I think Bubble Bass not being caught was because being shamed was punishment enough I only just started watching your videos a few days ago and I've been enjoying your humor and content! Your art skills are lovely, too!

Oh boy, I heavily relate to the whole letting other people's opinions dictate mine. There were a couple things in the past few years I didn't watch because people kept saying they were bad. But in 2020 and 2021 I checked out some movies that people kept complaining were bad and most of them were either decent or really good. After a while I stopped letting people online try to shape my opinions on something I hadn't even watched.

Ever since I saw you reference Team Starkid's Hatchetfield, I keep thinking how much that entire series needs a lore video. I know it's not a kids show but someone has to do it. 😭

The thing about modern SpongeBob is that the animation style is so weird. It’s very much giving ren & stimpy in that they’re all hyper expressive and gummy now and I’m just not a fan of it.

Ok the Bubble Bass Review Show is literally just the Nostalga Critic, and Nosferatu was originally from the 1922 movie, however I think they made a costume for the later episodes. Also youre so brave and slay girl boss for watching The Patrick Show.

They really needed to obey the original creators wish of ending the show when he passed. It had a long run already it would’ve naturally gotten to the place that shows get to when they’ve run for too long. They have gotten to that and also disrespected the creators wish
@AthenaPOfficial8 ай бұрын
I agree but that’s on the network. Nickelodeon is very disrespectful when it comes to their creators. I don’t want to blame the writers and animators because I think they are trying their best to honor the original while also having a job
@maem74628 ай бұрын
@@AthenaPOfficial The writers and animators are doing the best they can. This video showed that there is still some passion in the show. I feel like there was a year or few where the passion wasn’t clear. That could’ve been the ppl trying to figure out what to do. Ya it’s definitely way more on the network than the ppl making the show

I feel like Doodle Dimension could have worked if they took the approach of the doodle dimension being the 2nd dimension instead, composed of drawings, written word, etc, with them eventually ending up on the page on Spongebob's wall with Doodlebob in it, which allows him to escape using Sandy's portal. He wreaks havoc again, and Spongebob gets the idea to have Sandy use her portal to obtain a live-action pencil to combat him. He can still steal the pencil and create evil copies, even still have the same resolution, but still, anything besides a glorified cameo in a white void

What is Patrick hates Squidward because he's an octopus named "Squid"ward, and his sister is apparently an actual squid so that's offensive to him? 🤔

The bubble bass sequel made me explain to my 5 year old that when the episodes they choose have the “lines on the side” (4:3) it means it’s from when mommy was little, which is why I knew who bubble bass was. More often than not my son chooses an older season “with the lines” than not if that tells you anything. He also likes the Patrick show and Camp Coral though… He’s also noticed the coloration differences and gets mad that they changed Gary’s slime color over the years
