If i remember it correctly Wynncraft is server side mods, so you can connect with an unmodded client and it will automatically download a resource pack, so there's no additional manual setup required.

You are basically correct. Just that the term for modifications server-sided is usually done with plugins at least that is what Wynncraft does. Plugins makes it so that the client doesn't have to have any modifications on their part. And a modded server requires the client to also have those mods. Therefore having a modless server with plugins instead makes it more feasible for the players to simply just join and therefore not limiting their playerbase to only a certain amount of players who are knowledgable enough to download and install mods in order to join.

Yeah like other’s have said, Wynncraft was my first mmo experience back in middle school and honestly, it’s as good as people are saying. The devs are all super passionate (most are volunteers iirc), really good at what they do, and prioritize quality over quantity. The quests are written especially well imo, and range from intriguing, to funny, or even genuinely terrifying. There’s also a decent amount of build diversity, and the gameplay is actually very visceral and satisfying by mmo standards since it’s all built in Minecraft. I’m in college now, and I still come back to it every once in a while.

Around 2014 someone made a generated 1x1 scale map of azeroth you can still download and play. It's not perfect and doesn't use any blocks that came out since then but its interesting to see the scale of azeroth in minecraft.

I CANT express how happy I am that Wynncraft is getting a little attention from a creator that i watch. Being somebody who first joined Wynncraft 8 years ago and play pretty often this is amazing. And the fact that he thought it was modded is funny he's mind is gonna be blown away when he finds out it's in vanilla. Although I will say that stream snipping in wynn is gonna be a major problem if he chooses to play, some quests you can barely see the cutscenes when you are 2 people imagine what a streamer with 80k viewers and maybe 0,1% stream snipers would do.

They have a way to combat this, they can choose to do [/toggle ghosts none] to disable players themselves that's from other servers (this also disables cross-server messages). This does not prevent the ones on the same server from ruining his experience but that can be mended easily if the issue becomes great they can be placed into their own server by themselves.

Having played Wynncraft for pretty long time, I can tell you that the combat system was pretty good, though it still had it's issues, which I believe are addressed in this redesign, which will be very fun to try out. In all honesty, Wynncraft has been a MASSIVE project for it's dev team, considering no one has done this before, and now they're completely re-doing it.

I remember playing Wynncraft as my first mmorpg and really loving the quests. They aren't like in wow where they send you to kill 5 x mobs and colect 20 x rocks. They are fully fledged adventures with cinematics and cool stories. I was really bummed out when my friends got me into wow and I realized all the quests are the same. Wynncraft had some updates in the last years that added endgame stuff, but most of the content is the journey to max level, and that is something I think most mmos lost over time.

The part with the warlocks reminded me of a bug we found in classic. The elites outside BRD had no leash range so me and some mates kited one to Goldshire and waited for a few idiots to attack it then let it kill us. We watched as this mob slaughtered everyone in Goldshire, he could not path back so would reset to just outside the inn. Even when people spirit ressed he would chase them down and kill them again.

One of my first days in Stormwind someone had kited this NPC from Blasted Lands -- Servant of Allistarj -- and it was an unkillable guard magnet. Whole city was attacking this one mob and it wouldn't die. Went on for a few hours until a GM despawned it. Good times.

That footage of the guy with the snakes really bothers me (I've seen similar vids before) because as an animal lover who loves snakes, I have to point out that in those facilities, the reason why those staff members are so cavalier about walking in those cobra enclosures and disrespecting the animals like that is because they sew the mouths of the cobras shut to keep them from biting, then just keep them in there until they starve. That's why they're not afraid to abuse them like that.

Wowie, never would I thought that Asmongold would be interested in seeing Wynncraft! It was my first Minecraft server experience and I made so many memories from it, so to see a big content creator see what the server is like really has me excited to see what you think of the most well known Minecraft MMORPGs. All of it is free and made in unmodded Wynncrafft and 2.0 update has me really hyped. Do note however that Wynncraft honestly does feel a pretty different feel than other MMORPGs, and it's really interesting to see someone with lots of experience in other MMORPGs to give their opinions on Wynncraft. :D

The topic of leaving your PC running got brought up and I want to give my two cents: Computers are meant to be left on, it almost causes more _"damage"_ to your computer having to turn it on and off than just leaving it running; the power consumption to boot vs idle is negligible. Plus, nowadays _"shutting down"_ your PC doesn't even turn it off, it just turns it into hibernation mode which I suppose is the next best thing. Also, kW/h prices are so low and PC's have gotten very efficient. I know compared to servers, personal computers don't have the same redundancy features but OS's and technology in general has made it very far since PC's used to be fat and beige/gray with *tubes~!* As long as you keep your PC properly cleaned and running in tiptop shape, should be fine if not better than killing it and reviving it 😝 (SSD's/nVME's definitely don't take any hit versus good old wafers and needles). Similar to PC vs Mac, it seems it's a topic that has no _"right"_ answer just opinions and suggestions. I'd rather sit down and be able to use my PC, not have to wait for it to come back from the dead (that time adds up...) even if it were bad for the electronics, I'd rather it takes the hit than waste all that time waiting. Also, PC's are meant to be used like all electronics there's a life period for a product and then you get a new one. *Carry on, 🫥*

building things in the game was a large reason why SC1 was so danm popular. the map customization and things you could do in the map builder was out of this world for when it came out. half of the fun was just playing other peoples maps. SC2 enjoyed it for a bit but not as much success with it (story of SC2 lol)

There are always a bunch of Azeroth or WoW in other games with good moddability. There is so much WoW stuff in Skyrim if you search for I wont even mention all, but also wholesale overhauls in Paradox Grand Strategy games, turning them essentially into Warcraft themed strategy games, etc.

That's how I feel about it, the quests in the game actually feel insanely high quality and doesn't make you feel like you're wading through utter trash to get to endgame. That and the soundtrack is honestly top 5 video game soundtracks.

Wynncraft isn't modded if you weren't already told (I am guessing so) also it's been in development for 10 years from memory I've been playing it for 8 years so at least that. It's Co-owned by Grian (probs heard of him) and salted and last I was aware there is someone else but idk who exactly but i can tell you the city that got named after them which is Almuj I could be wrong on that I can't remember the actual name Almuj is just an anagram for it like a lot of the places in Wynncraft are just anagrams and/or references for stuff (mostly devs/builders). Also to do all the stuff they can do in Wynncraft they had to make their own coding language which I believe this update is them using the second version to make all the new spells and stuff because that stuff hasn't changes since the start of the server 8+ years ago. there is mods for this though the main one which is basically just what the game needs in order to go from almost it's own thing to actually it's own thing called Wynntils. It adds things that can't be added without mods like a mad better UI and HUD key binds for spells horses and other things and some extra stuff. A mod that is in development mostly done last I saw it was 93% done is called Voices of Wynn. The mod adds voice acting and what seems to be actually good at that. It seems like it should be done mostly soon and you can get access by getting a submission for voice acting into the mod if you want it before it releases. which is surprising because it's all volunteering like a lot of Wynncraft related things and Wynncraft it's self a lot of the build it volunteer work.

You know its actually better for your pc hardware to stay either on or off, not constantly changed, something about the spikes in voltage putting strain on parts. Do need to make sure your pc has sleep settings turned on though. Mine only turns off when an update goes in the middle of the night, several years this way

If your pc runs in sleep mode when not used it is using barely 3 watts of power, thats like 5 pennies a day..

Pretty sure base WynnCraft is very 'WoW-like', with actual gameplay, no editing tricks, etc. I played it a bit once. It was too 'MMORPG' for me, since I like Minecraft proper, but it was remarkable what they can do (I think it was WynneCraft, at least). This was like 6 years ago;no idea what's going on in the RPG server space these days, likely even better. I know there's also a major Middle-Earth server, and one of the first real RPG type maps was the Harry Potter interactive thing, which was like 2013 or so, and used all kinds of Command Blocks and other tricks to make it beyond base gameplay (but it's still 100% in-game, playable stuff). I would love to see a series where Asmongold just plays adventure maps and such, like RuneShark used to do. The Middle-Earth and Harry Potter ones would be top of the list, I think.

What you mentioned at 11:00 is where gaming is actually moving. Its called Metaverse. Most metaverses are also play-to-earn games. Games such as Sandbox are getting developed where players have their own land and can create whatever they want on it, like dungeons, pvp, marketplaces, whatever they want.

Wynncraft is great! It has a small, but dedicated community. The community is also very friendly. You might see some toxicity on the forums or the discord server, but I've never seen toxicity ingame.

If one ran the engine and addon's needed to patch the pixels up with all these goodies is possible on a private server with a mad ass bad ass PC with hardcore gpu to run it with full on play environment/full raid and instance functionality if anyone was wanting to know or try but seems to me, it was a work in progress and still is with functionality in full. It is a shame that only the WOTLK and lower expansions can be ran on one's own server and if you do not have players, you can bot populate in irony it is kind of fun to play alone with the option of semi-God mode in the console if need be
