Wow!! 👀You Have to Try Embossing on Vellum!

Another awesome tutorial! I'll share a couple of hacks I came up with (as far as I know) regarding cutting mat placement. 1) If you rub a wide tip sharpie along the outer edge of your cutting mat, a couple inches down from the top left corner, it will leave a very fine black line that will help you visualize the edge of the mat. With a little practice with your particular machine, you can place the mat very precisely and repeatably by lining it up with the wider mark on the machine. 2) Unless I'm using the ES mat, I keep the roll feeder attached to my Cameo 5 all the time. It provides a stable and level platform and makes getting the mat fed in correctly much easier.

Oh, the placement guide was so helpful! I sometimes struggle with where to place things on my Curio2! So thank you! I also cannot get vellum to stick to the ES bed, in fact the list of what does work is quite small 😕 and generally I find myself just taping my material down. Also, those wraps would be great on a flameless candle! I bet it would show up beautifully with the light behind it!

I'm not a huge fan of the ES bed. Most people love it, though. I didn't even think of using flameless candles!! Those would be perfect.

Beautiful! I love the look of embossed vellum. Thank you for your time to teach us how to actually use our silhouette machines with working success. Do you know if the silhouette software will actually work with newer apple os again?, will be such a loss for both parties if it doesn’t…

I always struggle with Apple questions. LOL. I have heard people struggle constantly with the two, and others say everything is working fine. What version of both are you running? I can ask around and try to find the best Studio version for you.

Ok, so I gave the cameo 5. If I’m doing this on it would I first use the regular 12x 15 mat for cutting? Then do I switch to the embossing mat for design? Does it need to have the roll holder under so it sits more level?

Another question I bought the silhouette magnetic mat that someone recommended but I have no clue what I use it for with the cameo 5. Do you have a class showing how to use this mat-?
