Working in the supply chain field for approximately 11 years, I generally think of these things regularly. However, I would assume that the general population don't consider all of the modes of transportation it takes to get the products to the consumer. I would also say that most people take this part for granted and do not appreciate how much planning goes in to making sure all the products are where they need to be for consumer use.

In my job field I have learned a lot about this type of process. When you are trying to get a product from a vendor, there is a lot of different things that have to fall in place to get the product. You have to create a P.O. accept the order, make sure the order has shipped and many different things. Many different people have hands on this product before I even get it. The person at the warehouse creating the order starts it, the person pulling the order and then the person shipping it. From vendor to the store, dozens of people could touch the product and have a hand on whether or not the product shipping goes smoothly. There are many different variables that control who, what, when, where and why the product gets shipped and received.

I'm looking to go to college to get my BA in logistics and supply chain management. One job in this career field that interests me specifically is managing supply transportation. Typically, where would I start, after earning the degree, to reach that goal?

Coordinations has affected me in ways. For instance I requested an auto part from abroad that must be transported then travels via plane. The arrangement was pontoon, plane and after that auto. This was the course that was instituted and got me what I required.

ah youtube, even on a series of videos introducing supply chain management, the keyboard warriors rise to spew hate. Still, this is a great set of videos thus far and I am getting loads of information on where to continue my research, even in "The Toyota Way," as suggested below so, ahem, 'colorfully.'

So I understand that logistics is a sub domain of supply chain management. What I could with is some working definition of "logistics" cause it's still a little hazy what part of supply chain management it pertains to?
@Maaxwell1009 жыл бұрын
Logistics is about storage, transportation AND organization, basically. It's about all the steps a product takes from leaving the manufacturer to the store warehouse, and then the final buyer.
