Thanks Adam, great job as usual and can certainly see your excitement for this new system. You may recall I’ve been seeking info on LD3 and I’m glad to see it’s finally released. Had I seen this last week I probably would have jumped right in and purchased it. However I’ve just within the last week been introduced to a new player in the space called Tutor LMS which I think could turn out to be better than this updated version of LearnDash. (I just watched a YT Video review which promoted using Tutor LMS with WooCommerce and Cartflows too). The Tutor LMS looks at first glance to have something very similar in design as that Focus feature you like so much in LD3. It’s very new and all the features haven’t been flushed out yet. But it looks like it will have great potential once they make a few adjustments. Anyway, glad to see LD3 is finally in the wild. But I think for now I’m going to hold off until I see how fast, or if Tutor LMS gets primed up.
@WPCrafter5 жыл бұрын
Yes from my buddy John, good guy, and great customer :-). Yea Tutor has a long way to go, very long way, and I hope they get there. I considered using it, but for something like this I personally rather go with the "big dog" that has the resources to dump multiple six figures into their product to make it the best. I do think Tutor is the best if you are trying to make a udemy or some course marketplace. That is more what it is designed for. And I have had conversations with them and made many suggestions. I hope they make it.
@WPCrafter5 жыл бұрын
The main feature I like from tutor is the ability to upload course videos to your WordPress website and secure them. This I think is great. Also the communication with the student and the teacher, really cool stuff. All great ideas that I hope to see spread.
@rocketgrowthstrategiesdigi45355 жыл бұрын
WPCrafter.com WordPress For Non-Techies Yeah, there’s most odd things about Tutor LMS that seem a bit odd. While not wanting to be a Udemy, being able to have multiple instructors is a feature we need and something LearnDash and LifterLMS at least in older versions can not accommodate. We are a coaching company and I have several partners which we all have our own list of clients. We all operate under the same brand but need to keep our client separate. My understanding is even with plugins this cannot be done with either LearnDash or LifterLMS. The only option we’ve been able to come up with is having a main site then each partner having their own sub domain. But that just seems like a lot of confusing moving parts.
@WPCrafter5 жыл бұрын
I'll keep helping Tutor and hopefully, they will act on the suggestions I have already made. You are right about the multi-instructor. While you can do it with LD I think you have to buy some addon from a 3rd party.

Question: my colleague and I have a project that have been asked to us... We need to have a user (probably not logged in) listen to a couple of videos BEFORE he can get a certain product (will be free in certain Canadian provinces and paid in others, because it's a governemental thing)... In order to make sure that they watched the videos before ordering, they want to have a quiz that asks questions about the videos... Then, they will be directed to the sales page. Question #1: We thought about using a LMS platform and will probably use LearnDash... I know we can create courses, lessons and quizzes... but I guess the way it usually works is that they go from one lesson to the other (do we have the option of the user taking the course without being logged in?) and at the end take a quizz... BUT, after the quizz, is there a way to redirect to another page (and not just stay in the course itself)? I don't know how LearnDash works, but at worst, if it shows the score right away, it could be a link to the sales page... (in better senario, after filling the quizz and a certain score, they would be directly redirected to the sales page). Can LearnDash do that? Question #2: Probably more a WooCommerce question (or CartFlows? Didn't have the time to check it yet...). Is WooCommerce the best platform to do what we want? Do you know if it's availabe (plugin?) that certain provinces (it will be available in Canada only) be charged a fee and others don't? I saw a plugin to spedify a different price based on country... don't know if it would work with provinces... Also, the taxes must be applied ONLY to the shipping fees (a fix rate of $5). So, not a problem for those who will have it for free (since only the shipping will have an amount), but can we say that the product is tax-exempt and still charge tax on shipping?

Very nice review. I want to echo some key points as an LMS Admin with near 20 years experience (sorry, Justin didn't coin the term, it's been around when he was just a wee lad). Most LMS UX is awful, and LearnDash REALLY just redefined it with focus mode. I have always been a fan of LearnDash's ability to skin per themes and integrate per WordPress plugins and also work with standards like xAPI. A t the price point they offer the tool- and the flexibility? A sure bet. Even moreso now with focus mode. I also wanted to echo the endorsement for SiteGround. I was running a WP forum, help system, and learning portal that ALL talked with each other through xAPI, and Siteground was a very affordable option for moderate traffic with VERY good support.

I usually like the extra styling flexibility that a pagebuilder provides :) Will you show that in your extended video? Another question: Can you have multiple iterations of the same course? Adam I was curious on what was the motive behind creating an entirely new website for some of your courses, rather than adding new courses on wpcrafter as it already has good visitors. I am asking because I have been debating between creating a paid course website or just adding it along with my blog website which has a similar content.
@WPCrafter5 жыл бұрын
Thats a great question. So the reason I am doing this is to move all the courses off of my main site and have a central location for courses. I have another brand / KZbin channel that will have courses associated with it as well. So this new site will be where course go for both brands because many of the students may be interested in. So if I have a course on making a website (WPCrafter) and a course on growing a KZbin channel (my other brand) now they can all be housed at the same place.

Adam, Your Videos convinced me to switch to Lifter LMS, now we're going back to elementor. I'm getting confused. All these learning modes they're not a big deal. Not much has changed here besides it looks better. Being able to freely build your course is something unique. Investing in elementor/divi integrations etc. it's something. The uniqueness will be if you can create an original experience for your students. Soon every learning site will be the same and boring. Changing the colors won't make a difference. So many great products out there, the future is interesting.
@WPCrafter5 жыл бұрын
Each person is gonna have their own requirements. According to my requirements, LearnDash today meets my need the best. But that's me, each person has to decide that themselves. The learner experience is important to me. Reusable lessons is a HUGE deal to me. But that is just me, someone else these may not be a big deal to. So if you have your site all set up, I am not suggesting switching. In my case, I was going to be changing things anyway, so it caused me to re-evaluate my needs. When LearnDash released their reusable lessons last year, it was not enough to move the needle for me, but now I am ready.

The founder of LearnDash is the guy that created the term 'LMS'. Could you please name the person you mentioned? I searched through LearnDash website but I couldn't get the name.

Do you use SocialLearner theme of BuddyBoss to use with the new Learndash 3.0? It's really awesome the new Learndash, Congrats to Justin Ferriman!

I personally don't, too many moving parts for me. But it does offer great community features.

Awesome review! I'm writing a comparison review on all the LMS inspired by your write up. One thing I noticed though, the newest LMS in town Tutor LMS seems to have all the features of the LD3 at a much affordable price. Are you planning to review Tutor LMS any time soon?

Why would you NOT recommend using KZbin for hosting your videos?
@WPCrafter5 жыл бұрын
Great question. There is no video security. When you embed a KZbin video all one has to do is click on the KZbin logo and now the link to the video can be shared.

I had some questions before viewing this video but it became more clear to me what to do. No LifterLMS or Memberpress but Learndash. Thanks again Adam.

I dont have video courses yet but I got email courses. Can I use learndash for that. Also I'm really interested in your learndash offer + video course because I plan to switch to video. thanks
@Kal-el235 жыл бұрын
Flo M. Why would you use learndash for a course you deliver via email? What would be the point of that.
@fmezy5 жыл бұрын
The Idea is to put thé content of the email course into learndash.
@Kal-el235 жыл бұрын
Flo M. That makes sense. Learndash can handle that.

Can you show it working with Oxygen builder please?

The new focus mode doesn't work with oxygen builder last I tested.

So I went to check your academy and can see that you moved from Learndash. What would you say made you leave it for what you're using now?
@WPCrafter4 жыл бұрын
No, I use LearnDash :-). I do have a few legacy courses on one of my websites using a different LMS that I started using 4 years ago.
