WPL C24-1. Overview and Hill Climb. Toyota Hilux

Here we go! Let's tackle this hill with the C24-1 Ready to Run. Completely box stock Run. They definitely are better than the original RTR and kits. This still gets the harder tires but they are affordable enough to swap them for a set of kit soft tires and your good to go! I really like that they made a white one. And it is a great update to a sweet little rig! I can recommend this for a small crawler to start modding. The Hilux is a sweet truck. .

Heads up for anyone that is getting this truck. The RC4WD 1.0 Scramblers fit on the WPL rims and are just a tiny bit smaller than the stock hard tires. They are also way softer than the stock tires.

Sotero Murguia it doesn’t need to be scramblers. There are other 1.0 tires that RC4WD has. This is one is like 2 bucks more. I think they have 1.12 inch wheels that can are a little bit bigger which makes it an easier fit on WPL rims but are 16 bucks USD.

For the $ right out of the box, it really is a great little rig. I know it's probably a better choice, but I actually bought the Axial SCX24 Deadbolt and returned it for this truck because it's so much cheaper and so close in performance. At the price point of the WPL C24 I can do upgrades and save money at the same time, I also bought 2 more, 1 for each of my boys so we can run them together :)

It's funny how most people don't appreciate most of these cheap "entry level" Hobby Grade RC!! It's pretty good, it's like the low end for RC which is good for ppl who don't wanna spend too much

I agree. No need to spend thousands just to get your feet wet in this hobby now a days. Back when I started this hobby it was only toy grade or expensive hobby grade stuff. Now is a great time to get into the hobby with all these options. You can start on a budget and if you enjoy the hobby your always going to get more. Also my experience shows most end up with some higher priced RCs in there collection if they get into it. I'm no brand snob or one to judge what people want to spend there own money on. I enjoy all aspects of the Rc hobby. I buy what I want and have fun with them no matter what the haters say. People who have time to spread negativity just don't have anything better to do and try to bring people down with them. Not on my Channel! I do what I want! hahaha

Awesome! Thank you! The WPL C24 is a bigger Rc. The scx24 is nice and better out the box but I usually don't mess with crawlers smaller than 18th scale. I almost purchased a scx24 for the channel but really couldn't pull the trigger on it. The C24 will need upgrades if you want to push its boundaries a little more but nothing will teach you how to tinker, build and fabricate faster than these WPLs lol. So Hobby on my brotha!

@@RunThatRC Oh for sure! I have picked up a used Axial Wraith Spawn and currently doing some mods on it to get good performance out of it but also a more scale look(Of an extreme rock racer!) But wanted to get something for some indoor crawling and then outside once it warms up again. It is VERY cold up here in Canada right meow. I'm loving the scale details and that this can be run around in my basement for now. Do you have some recommendations of some "must have" upgrades for this latest WPL? Was about to order the softer tires but would like to order a bunch of parts at once if needed. Again, thanks for the replys and the videos!

@@peterjames490 soft tires, metal driveshafts, and when they break or you get tired of gluing them back on then the metal axles upgrades(only really need the internals upgraded but can go all out with the metal housings for some lower cg) and wheels weights. Then it's a whole new animal.

really anxious to see their new D (drift) series I may have inspired :) not sure about the larger C-34 tires on the 24, they kinda look TOO tall and ready to take a bite up into the wheel wells when its flexed up 8:00 how the front wheel is so near the rear of the wheel well, like the "pull rods" could be near 1/8" longer to fix? know the wheel is slightly turned in that frame, larger wheels do bump into stuff quicker, and when you raise them up a little the wheelbase length gets shorter... just how it goes. David when you get a chance, check out the C24 and D-90 with the A285004 oil shocks, the much weighted D-90 also got the 260 motor swapped out for a 280 motor was a big power upgrade for cheap. D-90 really needed it with all the wheel weight and metal stuff, but the same motor swap into a 6x6 with weighted wheels could be really strong climbing.

are you able to find out the 180 motor rpm seems they put higher torque lower rpm motor on these new ones. Or maybe they used the gearbox from the B36 which has more torque than rpm comes with the milky white casing instead of the black stock transmission that was common.

Upgrade that motor!!! Get one of their 370 size one and a 2-sp metal trans. Don't worry about the choppers. If they wanted you, you wouldn't hear it coming. Then you wouldn't hear anything at all.

its for the balance port for charging. some escs connect to batteries that way but usually just for balance charging.

Yes they definitely are better. But the RTR tires on a heavy rig with some tire twisting and pulling they soften up a little bit.

@@RunThatRC yup, MN D-90 with Fayee rims+tires, stuck with their older harder tires because so much weight added. WD-40 bag soak and the twisting flexing got them nice and grippy, they feel like vinyl at first, is mostly the mold release from production, WD-40 helps remove that same time its opening the skin of the "rubber".

@@smob6969 really like the 6 spoke Fayee rims+tires on mine, the older harder tires with a little working them turned out pretty good. gains 3/8 to 7/16 width, square faced tread, is also a little more resistant to side tipping. they're only slightly shorter than stock MN tires. if you want a nice stock look, use C-34 rims+tires and wheel weights.. "The Higher You Crawl" channel runs them on his, so you can see both before choosing+spending.

these trucks are good when you get the kit versions. the RTR will not impress you compared to a scx24. They are bigger so can tackle a bit more terrain when modded right compared to a scx24. They are hard bodies so they are top heavy without wheel weights. I enjoy them and they dont break the bank.

yes most of them are with exception of the D12 and some 6x6 parts. Just make sure to order from the official site so you get good CS and genuine parts.

This is one of my favorite models from wpl. I am a Toyota fanboy lol. you can purchase the kit soft tires separately and you can use a 2s lipo battery with the rtr. Just use a low c rated battery to be safe. I use 30c 1000mah 2s usually.

These wheels came with the C24-1 and not the regular C24 and C14. These are the wheels that came with the C34 and C44 trucks as well.

The WPL C54(lc80) body is made for this C24 and the C14 chassis. So it will be a direct fit. The rtr electronics on the other hand may lower its performance. I always recommend the Res V3 esc receiver and tx combo for really good slow control.

if you really want to be safe you can plastidip your esc receiver board and servo board as well. Then your chances of coming out undamaged are greater. I know the urge to play in mud and water is hard to pass so if you must play without waterproofing them make sure to keep the electronics above the mud and water.

if you can gear it right and dial down the dual rates it should work. I have one with the plastic 2speed with a brushless 3500kv motor on it and it works ok.

Looking to get into the hobby with this or the C24KM Metal kit.... I really love and want this body but i want the best bang for my buck, the C24 kit is all metal and comes 2 speed. Should i get the kit and wait to get that body after??? And can you recommend an RC tool kit??

If scale looks and light trailing is what your after then a RTR may work. I personally would go C24KM and get a C24-1 rtr and swap bodies like I did. The V3 WPL esc receiver combo is also bang for buck a feature packed option for some great trailing performance. with lights and sound with a winch function that is proportionally toggled you can't go wrong. For tools some allen keys and screwdrivers is all you need to assemble the kit. Then a soldering iron for the electronics and motor wires.

Its actually because of him i stumbled on this hobby as i never knew RCs were such a big thing, especially with all the scale stuff. Here in my small country the hobby is non existent so theres no exposure. Maybe i can help change that who knows...lol... But i think thats what ill do, get the RTR so we can both start having some fun then ill buy myself a metal kit and a V3 and swap bodies... I already see im gonna be hooked...Toyota Hilux is a very popular vehicle here from old model to new model so im a bit biased there... why the 34 vs the 24?

I usually switch to the micro jst connector so more battery options. the wheels are 1 inch so 1 inch rc4wd tires work. The wpl kit tires on the WPL-RC website are also a good option.

You gave me a wise advice and I will surely switch to jst connectors for my personal rc car, but now I need to know the type of the original connectors in order to buy a spare battery and give to my nephew a complete RTR Rc car (i am going to buy one for me too, which i will mod later) About tires, on banggood/AliExpress there are tons of them, cheaper than the ones on the wpl site, but i don't know how to identify the soft ones without a code, or something else

there could be a number of things. Might be the esc, the steering servo or transmitter. Can even be loose wires.

hard to give a running time because it all depends on terrain and driving style. I get close to 30mins on stock battery sometimes.
