had a silly idea earlier today, they should do a "C-14 pro" version. the shock rods 6 mm longer, metal ball end suspension links, a hood that opens to accept battery weight forward (16500 2S lithium ion 750mah is a convenient size), wider offset rims.. like the Fayee rims but better quality rubber, gives extra 3/4" width. lot harder to side tip it. I do like the JJRC axles for being molded larger heavier with the much larger bevel gears, even though they're plastic they hold up well. the stock springs could be just barely softer for a little easier flex, but longer shock rods with wider axles/rims allows negative travel, and more leverage against the springs in the shocks. with M3 size 50 mm length half threaded cap screws, you can make the longer shock rods to see what I'm meaning about "negative suspension travel" giving more flex end to end. (gains about 8-9 mm of flex at each wheel, near 5/8" more total twist) C-14 is still one of their best crawler/climbers, with an opening hood to put battery weight forward, she'd climb stronger without adding more+extra weight, like wheel weights etc. extra weight is nice for some surfaces, not so great in loose stuff like sand. the "monster B-1" is DONE, steering servo arrived, electronics loaded into it. was "fun and games" to make the chassis+body fit together, trimming off the "solid" ends of the springs to drop it about 3/16", and very minor front wheel well trimming to clear the larger MN-D90 rims+tires. the "tan" gearbox does seem to be the older #316 stock gearbox, not the B-36 lower ratio unit I'd expected (still waiting on Ali-Baba for the two tan gearboxes ordered from them?). B-1 on a C-24 frame with the extra height and flex is definitely a neat arrangement, but requires quite a bit of plastic part modification to make that "marriage" happen.. extended body and bed mounts, upper front tray trimming, front bumper trimming etc. for those who missed WHY... needed to slam the B-1 frame under a C-24 body (axles atop leaf springs to lower it), for a direct driven #316 gearbox (8t 0.5 modulus pinion), and 20k RPM 180 motor... the WPL drifting mini truck is definitely one of a kind. quite a bit of "fun" custom modifying to make that happen, it drifts really nicely, its crazy! WPL "you MUST try this at home!" if you have extra spare stock rims, totally recommend slicing off the inside tire bead, sanding the mating faces flat, and CA those inner beads to the outside of a set of stock rims. it only gains about 3/16" total width (outer tire to outer tire) isn't a lot of help, but the tires DO stay on the now "deep dish" rims much better, the sidewalls closer to being flat are much more stable with more stiffness sideways (they don't roll under and pop off). also notice a little more softness down the center of the tread so the corner lugs can "roll up" to grip more. that action is there even more with widened stock rims, the beads further apart letting the center of the tread be softer more flexible tedious! but clipping out the "triple dots" down the centers of the tires, and the smaller corresponding outer lugs, gives the large center dots some space between them for some bite, same for the wider outer lugs having more "tooth exposure" with the smaller ones clipped out from between them (just at the corners). you'll get lots more traction.
@RunThatRC5 жыл бұрын
That would be cool!

lol which part? the "monstered B-1" is nice, a buddy saw my budget beast C-14, so we ordered up for him. if they re-visited their molds to make a "C-14 pro" happen.. oh heck yeah, include the longer shock rods etc etc. the rim mod and tread+lug clipping are totally must do's, even without the soft foam inserts I'm using the tires on widened rims have more sidewall stiffness for corner lugs to grab.
@RunThatRC5 жыл бұрын

@modelnutty65035 жыл бұрын
definitely, and had to make the hood open for the drift C-24 for 60/40 f/r weight distribution (or better?) anyway. same for climbing steep, the fronts need to stay down to help pull uphill and have steering. with the front upper tray shortened and hood opening, there was just room for the 20A esc and steering servo underneath, battery is on top of the softer tray. used velcro to mount the receiver onto the back side of that tray.. 1/2" above and an inch ahead of the gearbox (drift truck), so I know there's room to be made for accepting the battery pack right under the hood. seen the newer Land Cruiser suffers like the MN-D90 wanting to back flip if you don't do things to them, using an 18650 2S 1500mah in the D90 and the front Fayee rims double wrapped with 2 mm solder, it takes a LOT to keep the nose down! the C-14 budget beast just 1 layer to the front Fayee's on it, with battery under the hood it might not even need that.

I do agree there is fun to be had in keeping it simple. But I am spoiled by the 2 speed lol and how it fits the bill perfect and also they are dropping in price everywhere. The metal upgrade is a hard one to swallow but has worked out good for me every time. Just getting the axles with metal ring and pinion for around 10 to 15 bucks is a good route to keep it simple but reinforcing for longevity. Someone just received a C24 kit and it had the metal ring and pinion included! So maybe the newer runs are going to be even more worth it!
@modelnutty65035 жыл бұрын
yup, last C-14 and C-24 had the brass bevel pinions and plastic rings is a major improvement. one gearbox was B36 low gears, the other tan casing seems same as a #316, near geared too tall. kinda hit-n-miss still for getting the better gearboxes. for single speed I'm thinking B36 low gearing, but bolt in a 20,000 rpm 180 motor so it can do 3 to 3.5 mph.

Gotta ask about the two speed trans for these trucks: is it a two speed for a lower speed crawler gear or adds a faster speed gear for kids to drive quick? I am interested in a lower speed power gear for crawling better I have a B16 flatbed and love the full locked axles it has but gotta bump up some obstacles or gun the throttle and id like a slower apporach for wheeling. Very curious of the transmission, maybe with time you can 3d print a trans with low gear setup for crawling?? Happy wheeling to you guys!!

Thanks for the video, I just ordered my first WPL C24 kit and a few upgrades to go with it. Went a bit overboard and threw the budget out the window but it should be fun to build it up and see where I can go from there. I hope I ordered everything I'll need as I am pretty new to this and have no clue what I'm doing but I've been building models for years as well as real cars so I'm pretty handy. Anything you know as a weakness right out of the box? I ordered the metal ring gears, axles, steering, drive shafts, upgraded servo, linkages, steering brace, upgraded remote and ESC. As well as the kit itself so I'm $189 in it so far and I'll probably do more later.
@RunThatRC4 жыл бұрын
welcome to the crazy world of WPL! These trucks are so fun for a person who likes to tinker, solve problems and just loves to customize and be different. The newer C24 kits come pretty well equipped compared to the first kit versions. They come with a decent servo and metal ring and pinion gears with beefier driveshafts (still plastic). You pretty much purchased all the right things for your build. The only other thing is the plastic axle truss. they seem to work for me and most but if installed with to much force can snap and then be useless. I purchased the aftermarket metal one and that eliminated that issue(won't fit directly without cutting the mounting pieces of the plastic truss to the metal one of your using the plastic links). If you get the metal links then they should all work together. I still use the plastic links without issues on all my rigs that came with them. Thanks for stopping by!

Frank the soft kit tires are about 5 bucks a set with the rims too in eBay, same for the wider slightly taller Fayee 6 spoke rims and tires (not as good for rubber but the width is nice and grip pretty good). edit: the Fayee rims+tires look overkill on a C-24 but really nice on C-14 (or MN-D90). for C-14 you'll want short spacers under the front suspension mount bridges (almost 1/8") because the Fayee tires are taller and wider. very good in sand, mud, loose stuff. for ROCKS, widened factory rims and lug clipped soft kit tires is great. there's barely room for 3 wraps 2 mm solder (9 turns total) between the beads of the stock rims, helps C-14/24 a lot climbing.

Nice! I'm a car and motorcycle technician as well. The 2 speed works on a separate channel so a 3 channel transmitter and receiver would be required. Look up the flysky gt3b, gt3c. the best option in my opinion. Specially if you dont own any radio gear is the KM kits available on the Official WPL-RC.com site. Pair it with the V3 esc receiver combo and a 1500mah lipo or li ion.
