Another great informative video . Thanks for testing all of the things you do on your channel. I've just recently begun to get into the WPL and similar brands of RC in the smaller scales. I've always had what might be called (here in the USA anyway) mainstream 1/10, 1/8 scale bashers and crawlers from the "brand names". These smaller and less expensive cars and trucks are great for a number of reasons. Lower cost, great selection of hop up parts and spares. Lots of options for custom building to fit a specific project or just to improve durability. Channels like yours are invaluable to me as I get to see what works best on certain models. I love driving them but equally love building them. After watching your tire test with the rtr, kit and wheel weights I've decided to upgrade my C24 with weighted tires and the gearbox. And I just ordered the steering servo upgrade (I have the rtr with the crap steering servo and radio). Thanks again, please keep those videos coming! 👍

What a difference those springs make! 20-odd years ago my wife & I each had a leaf-sprung Lightweight Land Rover, and a set of parabolic springs was right up at the top of my wish-list, second only to a set of gnarly tyres. I loved the way you gave us a view of each system in operation - great job!

@@TomleyRC It was very noble of you to go back and redo some footage so we got to compare the two directly. I did wonder how you managed to get that terrific shot of the two trucks climbing the ramp together, driving both trucks and filming at the same time. After much thought I concluded that you must have three hands. I trust this assumption is valid? I´ll be interested to see what weighty solution you come up with for the rear body on this lifted truck : )

I recently bought and upgraded a B24, some lessons I learned... If you upgrade the plastic frame parts to the aluminium ones the extra weight will bottom out the upgraded suspension - to the point of bending it out of shape. You can fix the problem by trimming the old suspension to create leaf suspension and doubling up, it's stiffer but doesn't deform. The steering arm is a nightmare, get the threaded bar upgrade and bend it as needed. I would recommend minimum upgrades, the truck comes in pretty good shape as standard now. I found the more I upgraded it the more I needed to upgrade it lol. Even the 370 motor upgrade isn't enough if you upgrade to metal everything, keep it light. The truck runs well straight out of the box tbh, don't bother fiddling with the thing unless you know what you are doing. Paint it however you like, I went full upgrade mode and wish I hadn't. It runs just as well unmolested. =)

Got these yesterday, exactly three years after you posted the video (so I don't expect you to see this comment any time soon). Another nice video, and will definitely be helpful when I get around to installing them. Also got the upgraded metal lower springs and metal spring mounts for the axle. Hopefully it'll help with articulation, and not be as stiff as the stock stuff. Running metal axles already, and RES V3. Dually wheels in the back, stock wheels with weights in the front.

My friend I must compliment you again on another fabulous video as long as you're spot-on. Informational you don't waste a lot of time rambling about your neighbor's cat lol or hogging the limelight front of the camera. after watching several of your videos I'm thinking about getting those wheel weights myself although I'm still not too sure because I'm thinking about upgrading to the fayee style wheels and tires that come off of their version of the d90 but we will see as far as my c24 project is concerned haven't really been doing much myself I keep tinkering around with the steering and trying to lift it and lower it finding different ways to mount the body I did get the metal gear box but I think I'm going to upgrade to the two speed and add metal gears that way I have the choice between the slow crawling speed and a Quicker top speed gear depending on my mood. I also added an extra link to my front suspension like the new wpl c34 has to help keep the suspension lined up. Anyway that's all for now always a pleasure to see your videos my friend best wishes from the oven, Arizona US

Interesting. Those new leafs look like semi-parabolics which, if they are, should give you more travel and softer running. Reversing the fronts _may_ make it more prone to backflip in extremis as it tends to ping the nose up rather than down. Shouldn't really be a problem on that truck though.
@TomleyRC6 жыл бұрын

I just installed the new metal leaf springs on my B24ZH, following your instructions Tomley. They seem pretty nice, but tend to lock up in the rear at the back and on the front where the articulation is.... has this happened to yours? Your kit appears very shiny where as mine looks like matte machined aluminium, the edges are sharp...perhaps that´s why I am having problems with them getting stuck when I push down on the vehicle.
@TomleyRC5 жыл бұрын
Maybe you have them a little tight? Do they sit flush on the chassis? I filed the plastic chassis brace to move the leaf spring mount in a little. If they are off set slightly they may stick.
@leirameirarc5 жыл бұрын
@@TomleyRC the plastic chassis braces are shite. The original screws wont even hold fast anymore, some of them are falling out. I have replaced some with various screws I had laying around but there is still that problem of the articulated parts of the metal leaf setup locking in down position.... I think I may have to buy those metal braces to make it work... Will post photos of how it looks now in WPL RC soon. PErhaps you could show me what you mean by filing the chassis brace down to move the spring mount inwards, I can´t quite picture it in my head. Thanks for your quick reply mate!
