I feel they need to turn it into a museum instead of selling it. This way, everything can be preserved to honor Mr. Gleason, and fans can always tour the home as he left it ♥️

In the early 80s my friend Tricia lived next door to Mr Gleason @ Inverrary. I had the pleasure of stepping inside that billiard room. It has definitely been cleaned up. The walls and the curtains were heavy yellow with nicotine stain and the smell of smoke. And I vividly recall this very large floor stand ashtray piled overflowingly high with butts. All that aside Mr. Gleason was truly kind and kept asking "What are you kids up to today?" He would wave across the fence when he saw us out in the pool. Shows how much Lauderhill went in the ghetto toilet. Those homes were a million plus back in the 80s.

Speaking of bars: For awhile, Jackie Gleason had his own five car railroad train called "The Jackie Gleason Special" that ran cross country for ten days promoting his variety show. Somebody asked him, "Which car is the bar car?" He answered, "EVERY car is the bar car."

Jackie Gleason had owned a succession of at least several limousines, at least one or two others also painted maroon with a grey top. A very nice looking one was a 1978 Lincoln Continental Limo. A gentleman who later owned it took it to various car shows including the large Pismo Beach, CA car show for a number of years where I saw it many times. As a Gleason fan myself, we chatted a lot. He got to the point of wanting to sell it and we discussed it. But I just couldn't justify buying another car. Some years later, his nephew was trying to sell it and it appeared on the "Pawn Stars" TV show. Danny Koker (Count's Kustoms) came over to inspect the car for Rick Harrison. While the car looked good in general, it had many little rust and deterioration issues and Danny suggested Rick pass on the car which surprised everybody, including Danny himself. Then fairly recently a "Collectors Call" TV show featured a Honeymooners collector. He had seen the Pawn Stars show, contacted the seller, and bought that very car. So, it is now with a fervent Honeymooners and Jackie Gleason fan which is probably a pretty good home for it.

The house was located on Glea Manor, and his garage would accommodate, at least 4 limos. In the center of the house was an atrium, that was open to the sky. Gleason, had already passed away, and the gentleman who lived there kept it as a memorial to Gleason. The atrium, had gone to the dogs, it had been neglected for quite awhile. It was full of over grown weeds, and was a detriment to the house. It looks like it has become over grown again, in this video. It was around 2019-2021 when I cleaned out that atrium, and completely re landscaped it. I owned a landscaping co. (GREENER PASTURES) I turned it into a Japanese garden, exotic stone walkway, Chinese fan palm, Robellini palm, and I think there was also a fountain, I have the photos of the job somewhere. The one thing I remember quit well, was we had to bring all the rock, the trees, the plant material in through the house. We put down tarps in the long hallway you had to go through to get to the atrium. Getting the two trees down that hallway, without marking up the walls, was a trip,two of my guys were outside loading tons of ornamental rock, Urdl fiberglass boulders ( one of the boulders was used to cover up a drainage grate, in the atrium ) We even installed an irrigation system, that wouldn't get all the glass enclosure wet. The guys outside would fill the wheelbarrows with material, and pass it off to a couple guys inside, that had to work with their shoes off, so as to not track any dirt. They intern, would pass it over to a couple more guy's and myself who were in the atrium, with boots on. There wasn't going to be any sign, that all that material came through the house. I don't remember the name of the gentleman that was living there at the time, but he couldn't get over how good it looked, when it was finished.

I worked for a man who bought that pool table and had it in his house. I saw it with my own eyes and I believed him when he told me it was Jackie Gleason's. Why would he have made that up? I have no idea how he did it but that pool table is in a very rich mans house in Pennsylvania. How rich was he ? He owned whole blocks of real estate in Manhattan. Needless to say I was thrilled to see it.

Not at like I would have envisioned Jackie Gleason's home. I envisioned something like perhaps a "twentieth century modern", perhaps. Something that harkened back to his heyday, Florida style. Maybe something on the Frank Lloyd Wright order, but not this styling. Not that it's not nice, just not something that I thought would have appealed to Jackie. Something with a few more earth tones and masculine. I guess I was wrong.
@melaniemansfield33192 жыл бұрын
His wife probably had something to do with it and I hear he adored her. To me it looked like a collaboration of both of them. I liked it but a true feeling of a museum. Don’t know if you could but have tour’s like at Graceland. He was certainly famous enough for such a venture.
