Literally no one in Florida is wondering why florida insurance is either going up or pulling out of the state completely. None of us are wondering why By 2026 every floridian will be required to hold flood insurance through Citizens or one of the other remaining flood companies like Neptune in order to carry regular hazard coverage through a separate insurance company, none of us are surprised that like California with the California fair plan (stand alone fire insurance) or Texas with TWIA (Texas wind insurance association, stand alone wind and hail insurance) that Florida is looking at getting a Florida based and backed stand alone flood insurance company or they can get FEMA coverage. I know Literally zero people who live in Florida who are surprised by the insurance situation in Florida other than that it's taken this long for companies to start pulling out of the state cause they underestimated how much flood damage Florida gets annually and improperly priced their annual premiums not realizing floridians will pay the whole years premium in one go so they can't back out 😂

Insurance companies shouldn’t have to take loss on these vehicles. There were flood warnings issued days before these waters arrived.. It was negligent for these owners to allow their cars to be by these flood waters. They should have parked them on high ground or garages the city opened up for people to temporarily store and park cars in to protect against this loss of property. Let the owner assume the loss on their own negligence if they knew there were flood warnings issued instead of passing the buck to others by raising everyone else’s premiums. That’s the way it should be and perhaps eventually will be 🤞🏼with increased flooding in the future.
@mguti0903 ай бұрын
If the policy says flooding is included when you have comprehensive coverage, then it is COVERED. An insurance policy is a contract between the insured and the insurer and cannot simply be breached at will just because "too many claims". If flooding was not covered, then many would think twice when deciding to purchase comprehensive coverage, which as you must know, is indeed way more expensive. I paid for it for years, now you cover my loss. It's as simple as that.
@USDiploMike3 ай бұрын
@@mguti090 I know full well how comprehensive insurance works as I have it on my vehicles as well. The policy also says (in the fine print you likely skimmed over) that the insurer is not responsible for gross negligence by operators. For example, if you purposely crash your car into your ex girlfriend’s car because you’re mad that she dumped you, that is not something that would be covered, even with full coverage/comprehensive. Do you understand now? Going back to my point in original post, if these people had plenty of time to safely move their vehicles out of the way, legal nuances like that should be considered before paying out millions on losses. I suspect many of those claims are FRAUDULENT because people have the duty to protect their property yet decided to leave their cars in lowest lying areas of Miami -not very cerebral. 🤔🤷🏻♂️ The only people who should be covered are people who had no clue a storm was coming and didn’t have opportunity to protect their asset. Obviously, these are questions insurance company should ask people if they want to lower their liability ans keep premiums down for the rest of us.
@USDiploMike3 ай бұрын
@@mguti090 comprehensive doesn’t = carte blanc to abuse the car and do whatever you want and then pass the buck to the insurance to cover for your negligence. Read the fine print in your policy. Insurance is very nuanced. Good luck and good day. 👍🏼👋🏼
@mguti0903 ай бұрын
@USDiploMike what are tou talking about? Why are you assuming everybody who got their car flooded did due to negligence? If the insurance company suspects that is the case on a individual basis then they will conduct an investigation and will deny the claim if there is evidence that is the case. I cannot speak for other people and neither can you, but I will tell you that I'm not stupid and I've had my car for 9 years and paid comprehensive coverage for those 9 years, and on Wednesday, I got my car flooded completely unintentionally. Yes. Believe it or not, regular people need to transport themselves even during rain and bad weather. Emergencies happen. If covering floods is part of the benefits of comprehensive coverage, then now PAY! Why would they cover flooding if they're going to assume you did it on purpose or due to negligence? Just don't cover ir then and expect fewer people buying that coverage accordingly. Imagine being so disconnected from reality that you expect people not driving during bad weather. 🤦
@USDiploMike3 ай бұрын
@@mguti090 no, what are you talking about? 😂 I said “The only people who should be covered are people who had no clue a storm was coming and didn't have opportunity to protect their asset.” Don’t misrepresent my position to try to bolster yours. 😂 Those who have legitimate claims should be paid. That’s not everyone though! Every case and every claim is different and needs to be scrutinized. Imagine being so disconnected and dim as to leave your car parked in a flood zone when you were told 2 days before that the whole area would be inundated. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ And then expecting everyone else to pay for your negligence. If it were a flash flood like from a dam failure and there was no warning of flooding issued in a reasonable amount of time for people to move their asset, then everyone should be covered under the flooding clause of agreement if the vehicle is indeed damaged. It’s key to realize there are different types of flooding, which you evidently do not know. In a situation like what happened days ago where it just rained for 3 days straight with government warnings being issued days before, higher scrutiny should be applied to make sure you’re not committing fraud. Nearly everyone had the opportunity to move their property and protect it from damage. Sorry bout your loss either way. 👍🏼
