Nobody is talking about how it's illegal to pull a skier within 200 feet of another boat. Something makes me think the person towing the skiers is probably more negligent than we are being told. That is possibility. But the Driver pulling the Poor Girl can't control if another boater is not obeying safety measures. I grew up on the Tennessee River. Some people don't use their brain's in the water. And there always has to be someone watching the skiers. And to the point that the boat pulling the poor girl wasn't able to turn quickly to get back to her may be liable also. And you did make a good point the about the driver pulling her. They have to be aware of what is coming at them. Just all around neglect.

@@adotintheshark4848Yes there is blame here, the driver who was pulling the two girls had no business allowing them to wakeboard under those conditions. It’s a horrific tragedy. And, unfortunately, the adults operating her boat sound like they hold the blame. For them to allow wake-boarding in choppy water, near a channel, on a busy day, AND towing double? It’s insanity. There’s a reason you need to take safety courses and know what you’re doing on the water. There are so many ways things can go sideways. I agree with others it’s quite likely the other boater did not see her in the water due to chop, swells, and wake. And it’s also very possible not to have heard or felt hitting her. And then to hear that there were 13 people on the boat, most of them young teens-this is a set-up for disaster. How tragic. When my pops or grandpop took us out, we had a spotter at the back of the boat and someone stationed next to the captain to communicate. Everyone else knew to stay out of their way and line of sight. The second someone goes down, the spotter waves and yells to the front while keeping eyes on the person in the water. I’m gonna go ahead and guess very little of that was happening.

As a lifelong boater, as much as it pains me to say this, the decision to pull a skier through a congested area in choppy conditions was what led to this tragic accident. There is most likely 2 victims here. The skier, and the poor soul who was piloting the boat that hit her. Some folks may not believe that the boat Captain that struck her must have known he hit someone in the water. Those folks have almost certainly never piloted a large boat in rough waters. This is tragic. I don't think the boat owner intentionally hit and ran from the scene. I think he did not see the girl in the water. When I take people skiing as the captain, I make sure to stay close when someone falls to make other boaters are aware of the downed skier. Was the young lady wearing bright colors? were the seas rough causing her to be obscured? Sometimes people do things that put themselves at risk like jumping out into traffic. It's not always the driver's fault if they are not given time to react. Were the kids being unsafe? Was the driver of either boat drinking? Why have charges not been filed?

Yes, absolutely correct. Legally, you are required to take many actions when towing, depending on state and local laws. Generally, you are required to operate in non-congested areas, required to keep a certain distance, required to have a spotter, and required to raise a tow flag. If you don’t do those things, you are absolutely responsible. Once you take your boat into water, whether it’s a rental, borrowed, or your own, you are required to abide by these laws. It does not count as an excuse that you didn’t know the law and safety requirements; you assume legal responsibility.

And when I said earlier, if I had a boat where I could not see over the hull, I would try to avoid the area where people are water skiing, but on another token, I’m not for taking a lot of risk in life I would not be out there waterskiing either in this busy congested area, plenty of other places to go if you’ve got the time and money to do something like that…

The man who owns the home where investigators found a boat that they suspect struck and killed a 15-year-old Ransom Everglades student was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, according to a report released Wednesday by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, owns the Coral Gables home where the boat was docked behind when FWC agents seized the boat Tuesday afternoon. He was the only occupant in the boat at the time of the hit-and-run crash, the report said. (Miami Herald) The report, released Wednesday, identified the operator as Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, of Coral Gables. The report states that Adler had been wakeboarding with someone else who was further away and both “fell off at different times/locations and both were in the water simultaneously.” Officials said they continue to investigate and have not announced whether Alonso will be charged; it’s not clear whether authorities have determined if he was even aware of the fatal crash.(Channel 10 News)

@@michaelplunkett5124 At this point is anyone sure this guy hit that girl? He looks really hunched over in the video. Thats a lot of boat for a guy that's having issues walking. The "water ski area" (not an official area) is north west of the Rickenbacker bridge. Next to the condos in Brickell. They may not been able to ski there because the water is shallow and the boat they were using was large. I don't see people using a boat that large to waterski so just that is unusual. I think there also needs to be some review of the operator of the boat the girl was on.

With how choppy the water gets with white caps, it’s a hight possibility she sadly could not be scene. I’m wondering if this will be classified as a accident when the investigation ends or they will find issues. Like the boat that was pulling her, weather, the area she was in (high traffic).

I really really hate absent minded boaters that pull there children around a busy boating lane. To see a small object bouncing around is almost impossible with a large boat!!! Sadly for both parties this is a life changing event.

yatch driver should be charged with reckless and murder of boat operation and illegal towing waterskiers. He was towing 2 skiers on fell and the other dropped farther down. And admitted its a dangerous area and he didnt turn the boat around quickly enough to protect the water skier towed behind the boat! THIS DEATH IS ALL ON HIM NOT THE OTHER BOATER!

Ban all High Capacity Semi Automatic wakeboards. Pass a bunch of laws that’ll never be enforced. Implement restrictions that limit the amount of boats in a given waterway to hold no more than 10. It’ll save countless lives..

What are people doing playing water sport games where they can even see any other traffic /boaters first and second why would we be playing wakeboard games in a known high traffic area that is to be entered into with extra caution and care? I think showing off and trying to be an entertaining source for passing boaters is a reason as to why we think we have to be right in the middle of everything and everyone instead of somewhere else in the billions of options for ocean space for playing because people are so narcissistic and so just I don't even know what the word is these days for everybody has to make sure that they're shopping everything down everybody's throats yourself have a nice time with your family you got to be making a scene everything's for content make the content get your video cameras out look at me everybody look at me look at me and now look what happened I could be totally wrong but I'm just saying I know that there's no reason to be anywhere near Eddie high traffic or known areas of high traffic especially when it comes to being in damn sea

Interesting that nobody is releasing the name of the boat owners...maybe I missed that part? What happened was probably an accident, but it still requires the boat owners to stop and render aid doesn't it? Seems like the owners are rich and well connected that even the news won't release the name of the boat owner...maybe i missed that part? 100% the lawyers for the boat owners are telling them not to say anything and getting statements from other boat captains that the water was unsafe for wake boarding.
