WPTF-TV (now WRDC) Sign On 1980

WRDC Channel 28, Then WPTF-TV was an NBC network affiliate from its initial sign-on in 1968 to 1995, and from then to 2006 was a UPN affiliate before becoming a MyNetworkTV station. This clip is not a "sign-on" in the traditional sense, but an announcement signifying the start of a new broadcast day (apparently it was on 24 hours a day most days at this time). By October 25, 1991, WPTF-TV became WRDC which was branded as TRI-28. Four years later on September 10, 1995, WNCN became the NBC station for 20 years before returning to WRAL-TV in February 2016 following a disagreement concerning a renewal of its affiliation contract with CBS which Capitol Broadcasting Company (the owner of WRAL-TV 5) ditched CBS in favor of NBC.
