One suggestion as a student, when you discribe something it would be so amazing to put a small example image on the bottom corner somewhere, say "glossary is such and such" then add how Glossary is used in real time. that way we see both before and after and things click easier :D Just a suggestions, I think i'd unsubscribe everywhere if I found a channel like that lol

Hi Paul, great videos! Your tutorials have been more helpful than the actual crocoblock tutorials. I find the whole suite useful depending on the project, but is truly lacking in support, documentation, and tutorials. One thing I have been trying to figure out is adding a featured, sold, on sale, etc tag in the admin columns such as they would have in woocommerce. I would love to be able to add this but from the information I 'couldn't' find so far tells me that is not possible with JetEngine. Am I wrong? or maybe you point me in the direction to achieve this.

Hey Paul, thank you for this very helpful video. At 9:15 you talk about the "Supports" and say that one can remove them by clicking on the X. I removed the "Title", but every time I create a new post it still asks me to create a title for the post, otherwise I can't save. Is there a way around that? I don't need a Title for my post types and it is confusing for the users. Is there some way to disable it?

Hi, I'm new to Jet Engine and need some help. I'm creating a custom post type for universities, which are mainly categorised by country. For country I like to use a "Selector" for meta field type and want to link a media field type to this "Selector", so an image (Country Flag) will be displayed when the relevant country is selected when a university post is created. I'm a bit confused 🤔 to how this needs to be defined, as there are Custom Content Types, Taxonomies, Meta Boxes. Could someone please guide me to how I can achieve. 😊

Hey Paul. Thank you so much for the quality content you always produce. I have a question for you or anyone else on here that may be able to help me. I'm not 100% sure how I would go about organizing and creating this but here goes: I have a client that I am building out a new website for, and he does a Book Club reading and commentary session each week. So Here's the hierarchy of what I'm wanting to do but not quite sure how to create it: BOOK CLUB > BOOK > CHAPTER SESSION I transcribe each session commentary for him and format it with images and whatnot... So I want to be able to display the Book Club section and within there there would be the different books they read and then each session within each book... Would this be a Custom Post Type or just using JetEngine? If there is another video on how to set this up, or if anyone has any ideas on the best way to do this - it would be tremendously helpful. I would like to be able to have the table of contents displayed for each book and then click on the chapter to get to the actual content that I've transcribed. Any insights or support on this is very much appreciated. Thank You!🙏👍

Would you go Jet Engine over ACF Pro?

It depends on the project and what tools you need or use. If you want more general coverage of the tool (ACF or JE), then it's ACF all the way as it's widely supported and doesn't have a relative on Gutenberg or Elementor. However, if you want integration with Elementor and not rely on multiple 3rd party plugins to do simple things (like conditional logic, listings, etc.), then Jet Engine would be my choice.

I can't blame them really. There's an awful lot of tools available in the full package and $1k for everything for lifetime, is still a solid price in my opinion. If you're using the tools as a hobby, probably a bit too expensive. If you're using them with clients, one decent specced job will pay that back and then everything else is profit from there on.

But another one pays back the Elementor Pro license, and another one pays back Adobe license, and another one... ;) I think the price is good as well. But to be honest I was expecting a little bit more. I just wanted to create some (in my opinion) simple things (which I have done before with plain php (like an event list with data of related post types) - I asked the crocoblock support and they just said, no, that's not possible. So I'm not sure if the price is good enough to just use it for standard things

@@WPTuts Thank you Paul, and after watching almost all your Jet Engine and Filters here and in Crocoblock page, I am looking forward to watching more advanced videos as well in the Future. :) I am strugling now figuring out how to add for example, a car part, that fits under multiple categories of car manufactures and car models with different specs. Example: Product Post type =. Car Part, Post fields = Car Part Segment (Breaks) that Fits on (Car Manufacture: Audi), (Models: A3 2.O Lt engine and 1.8 lt Engine, year: 2000-2002) and also fits (Car Manufacture: Mercedez), (Models: xyz, engine:xyz and year xyz). To create this in the product page, I would need to add more options depending on the car part. Some fits only in one manufacture and 1 model, but other fit in many. I know I can create a condition metadata, but I wanted to understand how to keep adding more fields as needed and not only one condition. I think this is more complex stuff. lol

That's a difficult question to answer as it depends on so many factors. However, with the advent of the Query Builder and less reliance on Elementor, things are improving in the speed department for sure.

These plugins with annual payments puts me off buying them, I would sooner just buy a plugin outright. How do you use these for customers? They have to keep paying every year for 4-5 plugins so their website continues to work? Am I the only one that thinks this is a really bad business model?

If every plugin was sold outrght with lifetime licenses the developers would continually have to source new customers and therefore not have the finances to reinvet into the companies infrastructure, product research and development or support. That business model is not conducive to longterm product lifespans.

You're just recycling the same old tutorials. I thought that now that you're redoing them, you'll go more in-depth on the settings. All you do is read the descriptions of the settings and then skip to something else. You never explain them better or show use cases, just like in the Crocoblock series. The CPT one is a classic, "leave these as they are". You NEVER explained the other settings like "Show in Rest API, Register Query Var, Rewrite, Rewrite Slug, Capability type (maybe do something with another capability type other than the post or at least explain a use case? and this applies to the other ones mentioned earlier too)", and I'm not talking about the obvious ones that are clear and you also talk about, because it's like those are the ones you know and you skip the other stuff because you don't know what the other ones do either, or at least it feels like it. I'm following you for a long time, I learned a lot, but I get annoyed every time I watch a video of yours and see you just skip over the stuff I'm interested in. If you're doing a tutorial, then do a tutorial, go through all the settings (and again, I'm not saying that you should go through every meta field object type and field type, I'm talking about the advanced stuff I mentioned above). It's not like the world is full of tutorials like this, their documentation is bad too, but if you pretend to know how to use their stuff, go through all the possible settings, show what happens when something is on, off, or at least explain with a use case. Add value.

I understand where you're coming from Alex, and while I partially agree with you, I do need to draw your attention to the fact that these are BEGINNER based tutorials and not aimed at the more intermediate user who has a solid grasp of the core tools and settings and wants to go further into understanding the more advanced settings & options. But I take on board your feedback and will certainly try to cover more of the features in the remainder of this series and potentially look at creating some more intermediate level tutorials on those higher level features.

Hi Alex, I 100% agree with you, it would be great to have more advanced tutorials available. Given that there is demand for intermediate and advanced level content on these topics, perhaps you could spend the time asking questions on the forums, and even propose to the devs to create some clear documentation and tutorials for them. I get the impression that Paul spends a lot of time in the various Facebook groups, Slack channels, Discords and forums where he learns from others. He also mentioned being in regular contact with the developers, asking about features etc. Essentially, he seems to put in a lot of time actively engaging with the community and devs to find out how this stuff works, then he shares (for free) probably the best tutorials on KZbin about Crocoblocks, ACF etc. Paul also explained in another video that it takes him up to 1 week to produce every 'deep-dive' video he makes. That's 1 week of his time for us... I know from working with various devs in the past that they are often happy to have someone with an active interest in their apps come in and create tutorials for them. You can always follow Paul's lead and create the content you wish was already there for others to benefit. By making tutorials f yourself, you would learn more about the advanced features directly from the devs, AND help out the community by explaining in detail how this stuff works. Being proactive in your learning is the key really, and watching KZbin videos is only one source of information available out of many. Talking directly with the devs is another good one. There may also be some mileage in posting your queries on www.stackoverflow.com too. I'm sure you appreciate what I'm saying, and I acknowledge it is hard to learn about tech tools without having prerequisite knowledge about databases, APIs and other coding principles. Like you, I'd also love to see more advanced features explained in detail, with various use cases described. Paul, if you did dive deeper into the more advanced features, you could easily put together a paid course and people like me and Alex would buy it. ​ @WPTuts thanks for considering my feedback. What I want to say is that whoever looks up for JetEngine, already seeks advanced stuff, even as a beginner. Crocoblock's documentation is bad. I, as a single person cannot do anything about it, I told them, they don't consider my feedback. But this beginner stuff that you show, is also in their documentation for whoever wants to look there. Their problem is on the intermediate stuff. I'm not asking you to do specific intermediate tutorials. If you want to keep the stuff beginner-friendly, do it, but at least at the end of the video, or while reaching the other advanced settings, take some time to go into that too, don't just skip and ignore. @@PatrickLauruol I'm watching these tutorials because I don't have time to look up for stuff myself (I usually watch them when I eat, lol), and when I did, I got disappointed that I didn't find what I needed, because there's nothing out there, other than what they have on their website. While trying to understand how it works, I created and changed stuff in JetEngine while looking at the database in real time to see what happens, what's getting created, I'm not saying that I didn't try anything myself and I just demand info. I don't know what to say about that 1 week to produce a video thing. I got full websites finished in one day or more, and I'm not talking about boot websites, I'm talking about websites that look and feel good. Also, I'm not saying that time is not important, but he's old enough to know if spending time for this KZbin channel is worth for him or not, either if it's for revenue or philanthropy. Regarding what you said about a paid course, I totally agree with that! I would pay for good info.

Crocoblock's documentation is bad") Like you I watch these vids in between other work and activities. :) It sounds like you're already proactively learning in between your other commitments. I'm sure in time more advanced tutorials, and better documentation will be created. @paul - Reading through the comments on many of your videos, there's definitely demand for more advanced videos.

@@PatrickLauruol and there will definitely be more of those coming this year. But, it makes my life considerably easy if I have dedicated videos covering the core tools I can reference when I get comments about a certain feature that I need to assume a level of understanding of during the masterclass videos. There is method in the madness. 😉
