i’m glad it’s easy to do!(and cheap) i’ve got a new clutch for my 2020 coming in today (starting to noticeably slip in 5/6 at highway speeds) it seems hot weather +lots of feathering eats them up quick

Nice video ..personally I would have done the oil change at the same time

Did you do anything to dampen the noise when you put that motor guard on? I heard they vibrate and reflect the engine noise back up at you.
@skrabill10 ай бұрын
I have strips of super thick electrical tape along where the frame comes in contact with the skidplate.

Did you drain the oil. Or it being on the stand was enough to tip the oil to the other side?
@skrabill2 жыл бұрын
I did not drain the oil. The full level is below the bottom of the clutch cover when the bike is vertical, so no need to drain it.

So after I did my my clutch lever was EXTREMELY loose. I had to adjust it a bunch to get it to engage. Not sure what happen that caused that.
@skrabill2 жыл бұрын
That doesn't sound right. I might be inclined to take that one back apart and reassemble just to make sure I didn't mess something up. I've done my clutch a few times and didn't have to do much if any adjustments after it was back together.

would this be the same kit for a 2017 model? I am getting some conflicting info about it. I lubed my clutch cable now the clutch will not disengage. I am pretty sure my clutch push lever is traveling far enough. I am wondering if there is an internal push rod adjustment?
@skrabill4 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are all the same for the WR250R since they came out. 2008 through current year models use the same clutch.

Is engine oil used to cool down and lubricant the clutch?!?! I’m so confused
@skrabill4 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. Any motorcycle with a "wet clutch" uses engine oil to lubricate the clutch plates. There are a few dry-clutch bikes out there (Ducati for one), but the majority of motorcycles have a wet clutch.
@daring2venture6712 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, cheers for the vid. I just did my plates also, but now I have no clutch engagement at all. Has this happened to you? What am I missing?
@skrabill2 жыл бұрын
Step one would be to check your cable and make sure it is actuating the clutch throw-out. If that doesn't work, you're going to have to pull it apart and try again because something is stuck inside the case. Good luck!

You went with oem plates? How much was it
@skrabill3 жыл бұрын
Yes, OEM. They're about $150 after taxes and fees from Rocky Mountain.

Excellent video. Very thorough, mine is starting to grab very low in the lever travel. Have you ever considered an aftermarket clutch? Any recommendations?
@skrabill3 жыл бұрын
I would only recommend OEM for internal parts, but that's just me. You can adjust the cable up by the lever to change where it engages. As long as you don't abuse it (like I did), these clutches last quite a while.
@MitchelCosta3 жыл бұрын
@@skrabill Ok... Thank you for the reply. I just hit 6K on her so I'll try and adjust the lever to see if it gets better. Other than that I don't have any issues with the clutch. Thanks again.

What sort of mileage did you get out of that clutch?
@skrabill4 жыл бұрын
My oem clutch went for about 20k miles, then I destroyed it in a slow race. This one only had about 2k miles on it before I destroyed it in another slow race. I'm done competing in slow races 😂
